University could be impacted by
the travel ban. 27 First News
Reporter Cameron
Brown spent the day talking to

Abdullah Khalil is originally
from Saudi Arabia. He's now a
student at YSU. He says the
Valley- is his hometown.
I THINK THE COMMUNITY OVER HERE
IS VERY NICE. PEOPLE ARE VERY
FRIENDLY. AND I FEEL ITS LIKE MY
SECOND HOME.
That's why he was concerned when
he first heard about the
Friday's executive
order. It bans folks from 7
countries in the Middl East from
entering the United
States.
MYSELF I WAS REALLY WORRIED. BUT
AFTER PRESIDENT
TRESSEL'S EMAIL, I FELT REALLY
COMFORTABLE. AND I FELT THAT
WE HAVE A COMMUNITY THAT ARE
STANDING WITH US, NOT STANDING
AGAINST US. President Tressel
wrote that letter earlier
this morning. Seven YSU students
are from the 7
countries listed in the ban.
Leaders at YSU say it is
important to let all
students-- regardless of
national origin-- know that they
are valued.
OUR INTERNATIONAL MISSION AT
YOUNGSTOWN
STATE IS SO VITAL. NOT ONLY TO
THE SUCCESS OF THE INSTITUTION,
BUT
ALSO TO THE SUCCESS OF THE
STUDENT EDUCATION HERE.
The Trump Administration says
this ban is NOT motivated by
religion.
The Mahoning County Republican
Party agrees.
They say its about American
security.
SEVEN COUNTRIES, THAT HAVE
FAILED GOVERNMENTS, OR BARELY
FUNCTIONING GOVERNMENTS, OR
GOVERNMENTS WHO'S INTERESTS
ARE ADVERSE TO THE UNITED STATES
Christopher Anderson is with the
Mahoning County Young
Democrats.
He says he hopes the Trump
Administration realizes that
this ban is unethical.
I HOPE THAT IN THOSE 120 DAYS
THEY'LL REALIZE THAT WHAT WE'VE
REALLY DONE IS KIND OF
EFFECTIVELY TURNED OUR
BACKS ON THE MOST VULNERABLE
PEOPLE IN THE WORLD RIGHT
NOW. Mark Magie with the local
Republican Party
says that those refugees
shouldn't come to the US
Instead-- the US should help
create safe zones within those
countries.
I'M FOR THAT. GIVE A PLACE FOR
THESE FOLKS TO GO TO. GET A
BETTER HANDLE ON WHAT THE
SITUATION IS. RATHER THAN JUST
OPEN UP THE GATES AND LET THEM
FLOOD IN.
