I just wish I could’ve played on the weekend, because I really love this golf course.”
Yeah, that’s probably an understatement for a guy who has won at Torrey Pines 8 times,
including a U.S. Open.
Don’t let that get you down.
Tiger Woods, may have missed the cut in his 2017 debut at the Farmers Insurance Open
after coming off back surgery -- but let me put it in perspective for you.
He has almost as many cuts as majors, notching his 16th missed cut of his pro career dating
back to 1996 -- 23 year-old Jordan Spieth has 14.
It didn’t take 10 holes to make birdie on Friday though, in fact, he clocked one
on his first hole of the day…
He even teased us with this chip for eagle on 5…
Tiger was right, he did improve in round 2 -- notching only 2 bogeys, compared to Thursday’s
5 and a double.
He even hit 10 of 14 fairways, which was a big improvement from only 4 the day before.
But it wasn’t enough and El Tigre netted +4.
Time to cheer you up though...
Check out this shot of the day courtesy of Will Mackenzie.
Doin’ work from 98 yards out for eagle…
Brooks Koepka didn’t need his flat stick either on 10 on the South Course…
Let’s flip the script though.
Poor Graham DeLaet had a little dose of golf is hard.
Missing it not once...
But twice…
Heck even the leaders hopped on the struggle bus at times.
18-hole leader Justin Rose let this little one get passed him on 14.
And then defending champ Brandt Snedeker turned around and did the same thing on the same hole!
Holy moly….
Hey, it’s hard out there guys.
Trust me, I was at Torrey Pines this week and it’s nothing to blink at.
Other notables that missed the cut: Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Rickie Fowler & Jimmy Walker.
This thing is far from over!
I’ll see you this weekend, for The Takeaway.
