Ri Tong-il [ ], the North's former deputy ambassador to the United Nations, spoke to
reporters in front of the North Korean embassy on Tuesday, saying he was also there to seek
the release of a North Korean man who was arrested in connection with the murder.
He added he was also looking to develop friendly relations with the Malaysian government.
The previously close relationship between the two countries has soured since Kim's death.
Pyongyang insists the victim died of a heart attack and that an autopsy on the body had
violated North Korea's sovereign rights.
Police are still investigating, but they say on Wednesday, they'll charge two female suspects
in the killing with murder.
