Samsung denies it was ordered by Chinese court to pay Note 7 damages

Samsung Electronics has reportedly been ordered by a court in China to pay damages to a local
customer for a fire caused by the now-discontinued Galaxy Note 7 smartphone.
But Samsung is denying the report by Xinhua News Agency, saying the case was settled outside
of court.
Samsung said today that the court in Shanghai did indeed hold a hearing,... but that an
agreement was reached with the customer and the case was dropped.
The company said it could not reveal the amount of the settlement.
According to the Xinhua report, however, the court awarded the customer damages worth about
38-hundred U.S. dollars.
