have not gone anywhere unusual or crazy today I am showing you how to make this gorgeous
self saucing chocolate orange pudding it is amazing. As usual you can find the full list
of ingredients on my virgin kitchen .com and I really hope you do give this a go, it is
stonking good as barry would say augustus gloop would be proud, or even the boy from
matilda you know when she brings out that massive chocolate cake and he sits there and
she makes him eat it all and his face is covered in chocolate do you know what I mean, barry
is looking at me like what are you on about I am sure you know what I am talking about,
so the first thing you are going to do is grab yourself a large mixing bowl, pour in
the flour, sugar, cocoa powder and the baking powder then give it a really good mix together.
Follow up with the zest of one whole orange and then you want to keep the orange to one
side because you will want to use the juice. Give this a mix together again and put the
bowl to one side. I have to say that smelt really orangey it
smelt so good already. Grab yourself another bowl and pour in the juice of the orange you
just zested, followed by your eggs, your melted butter, and then your milk, give this a real
good whisk together until the eggs are all incorporated and it is looking like a yellow
eggy mixture. You are then going to pour this wet mixture
on top of the dry ingredients giving it a really good mix together until all incorporated
there is no flour or sugar or powder mixture in there until you are left with a really
nice batter mixture, we then added in some chocolate orange pieces now these are barrys
favourite and I did notice I did not have a full circle of orange there was a couple
of pieces missing mr barry, yeah sorry, I think he snuck some for breakfast, we just
snapped these pieces in half and put them into the mixture giving them a good mix together
again. Pour this mixture into your greased dish and
the next step is where it gets a little bit weird I never made a self saucing cake before
so yeah this is the bit where we were like what are we doing but it does work out really
well, add your cocoa powder in with the muscavado sugar or light brown sugar yeah whatever you
call it, add that in and pour over some boiling water give it a gentle mix together and then
you pour this over your cake batter which is in your dish which looked a bit strange
it reminded me of tar a little bit, I poured it over and thought oh it is all black and
it smelt a bit like liquorice too which I do not like, but anyway it had chocolate in
it and had orange so fingers crossed I am sure it was going to be good, we then put
it in the oven for 30 minutes until the top was nice and brown and a little bit crunchy
looking and the mixture was bubbling away nicely.
We found this best served warm oh warm chocolate pudding we scooped a bit out and then drizzled
over some more chocolate sauce followed by a lovely serving of vanilla ice cream, and
it was devine I tried it and I love chocolate pudding, if you are a chocolate lover like
me out there the brownies all that sort of stuff you have got to give this a go, it is
amazing I loved it, so remember if you give this recipe a go please send us your pictures
and let us know how you get on and we will see you again next time, bye!
