SK Hynix reportedly seeking to acquire stake in Toshiba's chip business

Korea's number-two chipmaker SK Hynix is reportedly seeking to acquire a stake in Toshiba's memory
chip business.
According to industry sources...
SK Hynix submitted an initial bid last week,... worth somewhere between one-point-seven billion
and two-point-six billion U.S. dollars.
In January, Toshiba announced it was planning to sell a 20 percent stake in its chip operations
business for as much as 300 billion yen,... or roughly two-point-seven billion dollars...
to raise funds.
If SK Hynix were to win the bid,... it would gain a competitive advantage in the NAND flash
market.
It's unclear which companies are competing in the bid.
While SK Hynix said it cannot confirm details,... Korea Exchange has requested that the chipmaker
make a disclosure in regard to the issue.
