because he had his own slam dunk contest today…
What an exciting day of golf at the Genesis Open!
Though it did take us two days to play round 2,
but after an early morning delay and a little cleanup
we finally got in some golf out at Riviera.
Tringale might have had the low round of the day
with his 64 in soggy conditions, but he still
joins the field chasing Dustin Johnson…
DJ was getting buckets of his own.
Draining putts left and right, first from 38 feet…
Then 35 feet…
And how about one from 25 feet to end
his second round.
He did it all in conditions like this…
The grounds crew had quite the project on
their hands, after nearly 3 inches of rain
fell overnight in Pacific Palisaides.
Johnson isn’t just chasing his 12th career victory,
he’s going after the top spot in
the World Rankings.
In order for him to dethrone Jason Day
and become the new World No. 1,
DJ needs to win and for Day – who is
currently in the middle of the pack –
to finish about T4 or worse.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there…
DJ has several players on his tail,
including Pat Perez who had this gem
on 17 to move him into 2nd…
Matt Kuchar had one of his own on 18…
and then followed it up with an eagle on 1.
Sergio Garcia with a little surge of his own
from 30 feet on 9…
With the washy weather, guys were
finding themselves in all sorts of situations.
But few are escape artists quite like Phil…
Get ready for a golf marathon!
It’s looking like we will finish everything
up on Sunday.
With the leaders squeezing
in rounds 3 & 4 en route to the finish line.
You can watch it all on PGA TOUR LIVE
beginning at 10 am et and I’ll wrap up
the week on Monday in Trending On TOUR.
