of animals over the years.
From alpacas to zebras, and everything in between.
My gecko, Larry, has lost appetite,
and there's something wrong with his eyes,
so I came here to see Dr. Pol to see if he can help him.
Desmond is bringing in a gecko that he rescued.
We just got him yesterday.
OK.
Hi, sweetie.
I'm feeling pretty sad, because it looks like he's
been treated pretty bad.
Oh, yeah.
So, somebody dropped them off there.
Seriously, the cage was empty except for a heat lamp
over the top and wet paper towel in the bottom.
Yeah.
His eye looks jacked up.
Of course, people don't know how to take care of them.
These animals have to be in an environment that
simulates where they come from.
That's-- see that?
All dried.
That's because his cage was not right.
You see how dry that is?
Right.
The gecko has an infection in the mouth and has a dry eye.
Moisture is important.
OK.
Heat is important.
What we need now is to put some save in the eye.
Just like that.
And if he licks it, no problem.
There, see that?
Clean out the mouth and get an environment
that is high in humidity and warm enough.
And wash your hands after you get done.
Always.
Reptiles carry bacterias that we don't like.
OK.
OK.
I hope that Larry will make a speedy recovery.
Thank you so much.
Yep.
I think Larry's going to pull through.
He's going to go in my bedroom and on my dresser.
I want to give them the best life I can.
NARRATOR: Despite a rough past, this abandoned gecko
is one lucky lizard.
