So today we have this Aston Martin DBS that rolled into our shop.
It's black and it is really scratched up from poor washing techniques.
So, we need to do a three step polish.
Before we polish it we went ahead and we actually did a couple steps to get the surface prepped.
We gave it a wipe down with EcoSmart which removed all the dirt and dust and afterwards
we decided to clay the entire vehicle to make sure we remove all the contamination.
You want to remove all the contamination so that when you're doing a three step polish
you're not putting any marring or poor polishing but you get an actual true cut.
The cool thing is I laid out all my steps here.
I have an Orange Pad with V34, I have a Green Pad with V36 and I'm going to finish off with
a White Pad and V38.
We're going to be using a TORQ 10FX to complete all these steps.
My buddy Nick is also going to help me because this car has a lot of surface area to cover.
Cool thing is we are going to do a couple fifty-fifty shots so that you can see the
before and after on this beautiful car and see how much this black car shines.
To top it all off we're going to give it a coating of C9 so that this car is protected
and gleaming like none other for about two to three years.
So there is a couple tricks I want to tell you when you're taping a car.
To be extra safe we want to make sure this tape doesn't peel off any paint when it has
been sitting for a little while.
A cool trick I learned is rip the tape off and simply run it across your clothes and
this will pick up any lint and make sure the tape doesn't have a really high tact to it.
Just like that we are ready to start getting out fifty-fifty on.
I want to prepare my pad with this Pad Conditioner,
two spritz is all it needs to prep this pad.
Like I said I'm going to start off with the V34.
V34 is a hybrid compound so it has a lot of grit and a good amount of cut but it is not
too aggressive where I'll get a lot of micro marring.
Very little is all you need, just a couple dots, give it a good shake.
About four dots will cover this area.
I'll spread it out nice and evenly and then I'll start working it in on speed setting four.
So after doing our first step of polishing I noticed there are still a lot of major imperfections
on this vehicle.
We are going to be applying a coating so I want it to look its best.
I'm going to roll into my second step.
To do that I do need to pop on the Green Pad and using some Pad Conditioner because it
Then using V36 Polish it is the same amount of polish just a couple dots will go a long way.
Just like that I have enough polish to do this spot.
We just finished doing our second step of the second polishing round.
?????????????????????
We just finished our second round of polishing and now I want to jewel up the paint.
I want to make sure I remove any little micro imperfections in this black car so it truly
looks like a mirror.
Cool thing is that I have my polish ready and I have my Pad Conditioner.
I'll give my White Pad a spritz because I did get a new pad for this beautiful car and
Now I'm ready to handle this area.
So I want to make sure I stress that you break down each and every polish til it is about clear.
The reason why is to make sure you don't get any holograms or micro marring or any other
marks from a bad polish or not working it in long enough.
So I'll spread it out nice and evenly and I'll work it in on speed four.
Then we'll take off this tape so you can see the difference.
Nick and I are going to finish up the rest of this car.
Cool thing is since Nick is here we are going to get this car done really fast.
You can see by doing three steps on these test areas can take a long time.
So I'm going to wipe off this line so you can get a definite vision of how it is going
to come out.
Nick and I just finished doing a three step polish on this Aston Martin DBS.
We got the black to really look black again.
Sadly, Nick had a five dollar box and had to go to the restroom so he's not going to
be joining me for this end process.
Obviously this car came in really thrashed as you saw.
The cool thing is that I want to add a protective layer that this customer really won't know
but it is going to add such a rock hard covering and protection that it is going to make it
harder for him to even scratch the surface.
Therefore, I choose Carbon Flex and what this is going to do is add such a good layer of
protection that I can easily top it and wax over it for about two to three years to come.
It is very easy to apply and I've already taped off everything for polishing so I'll
I have to do is prep it and I'll take my applicator and micro suede towelette and wrap it around
so I have a nice surface.
Now I'll open up my Flex and I'll make sure I don't spill it and the way you do that is
place the applicator on the bottle and flip then move the bottle side to side and turn
it over.
Now I have my applicator ready and now I'll come over to the vehicle and simple using
a line motion I'll apply the coating.
Keep in mind you just need a very thin layer to get the whole entire fender coated and
I can reapply as needed to cover more surface.
I'll let this cure for about ten minutes and while that is happening I'll do some other
areas of the vehicle and then you'll see me buff it off.
Two days later the customer brought his car back and this Aston Martin DBS still looks
wonderful but there is a couple fingerprints, some water spots and light dust from driving
around town showing off how good this thing looks.
What I want to do is give this coating a revitalization.
I want to use Vitalize and what Vitalize does is pick up where some coatings fall short.
It adds a hydrophobic surface and it also protects from any other fallout.
So it is really easy to use, all you do is spray and wipe.
I'll spray it, let it sit and give it a beautiful wipe down with my Happy Ending Towel making
sure to buff off the haze.
The cool thing about Vitalize is that not only does it revitalize your coatings but
it can be used for cars without coatings.
So if you don't want to apply a coating you can simply use Vitalize and it will add those
hydrophobic qualities to your vehicle.
So to conclude this Aston Martin DBS detail, we started off with the EcoSmart wash,
we went into the clay and then we started a three-step polish.
With the three-step polish we started off with an Orange Pad and V34 and then we moved on to
a Green Pad and V36 and from there we went on to a White Pad to jewel the paint with V38.
After all of that the car looked 95% better and then we decided to coat it with Carbon Flex C9.
That added a rock hard layer of protection to this car and as you can see an unbelievable
shine.
So, today I decided to give it a revitalization with our new C9 Vitalize and what that did
was got rid of all the minor dust and fingerprints and revitalized the coating to be truly hydrophobic.
So to conclude I'm going home, catch you guys later.
