romantic cues from men because — let's face it — it's hard to tell if a potential partner
is really into you at first blush.
Part of the problem is that research has shown your own personal biases and desires can shape
the way you interpret the words, actions, and romantic intent of others.
Basically, you may find yourself either overestimating or underestimating someone's true interest
in you based on your own wants and needs.
"I'm also just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."
However, the good news is there are a few can't-miss signs that can let you know whether
he actually is into you.
Facial cues
If you want to know if a potential mate is truly interested, the first step is to look
more closely at his facial expressions during your interactions.
Specifically, pupil dilation can be a major indicator that he has eyes for you — literally.
Additionally, if a date raises his eyebrows, licks his lips when talking to you, or smiles
in a way that reveals all of those pearly white front teeth, these seemingly small actions
can also be big indicators of interest.
"Ah!
I mean, AH-llo!"
And if you want some scientific proof, studies show that men who are interested in women
may literally be drooling over them, as testosterone levels in their saliva can increase when they'd
like to court a woman.
So if you sense he's swallowing more than usual or actually salivating whenever he's
around you, this can actually be a clear-cut sign of his attraction.
Body language
When looking more closely at nonverbal cues, it's important to pay close attention to a
guy's body language as a whole.
You know that leg-split maneuver commonly referred to as "manspreading?"
Well, this unspoken action actually speaks volumes in terms of his interest in you.
By sitting with his legs wide open, he's really showing that he's open and available to you.
Whoddathunkit?
Paying attention to the placement of a fellow's feet can also help you decode his true feelings.
If your date's feet are pointed toward you during your interactions, this can be a sign
of interest, as this type of stance demonstrates he's making himself completely approachable
and non-threatening.
On the other hand — or foot — if those feet are pointing away from you, this can
indicate detachment from the situation, meaning he might be more interested in the exit sign
than your company.
20 questions
"I'll just fire away then, shall I?"
When a person is highly interested in you, he will listen to you without interruptions
or distractions.
While that desire to listen can act as a basic means of attracting you, it can also give
a man the opportunity to show just how much you could mean to him.
Take notes as to whether he's absorbing specific information and details of your conversations
and prompting you with further questions of interest to your personal life.
The more invested he is in your past, the more interested he is in making it last.
Man with a plan
It might seem like a no-brainer, but it's still pretty important to notice whether your
date invites you to, you know, have another night out.
This goes both ways, of course, so your potential partner might be waiting on you to offer up
a second round at the same time.
But see if the hints are there — is he stalling the date's end or talking about what a great
time he had and pausing for some feedback from your end?
Or is he just cutting and running with no firm commitment to call you again?
A quick good-bye is a bad sign, but if the salutations are drawn out, chances are, he's
hoping to see you again sooner than later.
It's also important to note that if he seems to lean on last-minute dates, he might not
be interested in a serious romance with you...or anyone.
So, unless you're ready to become a booty call, steer clear of those impromptu invites.
"You're leaving too?"
"I'll stay if you can tell me my name."
"Have a good night!"
"Mhmm."
Doing favors
Another definitive sign a man is truly interested in you is that he is willing to go out of
his way to do nice things for you.
Whether it's bringing you coffee, shoveling snow off your car, giving you a ride, or offering
to help set up your new TV, when he makes a concerted effort to give you his attention,
he's actually showing his affection for you.
And — hopefully — rather than feeling like he owes you, or that you owe him, he
wants to do these things for you out of the goodness of his heart — because you've captured
it.
Like language
Sometimes, the best way to figure out if a guy is into you is to simply listen to what
he says.
And while the words, "I really like you," may not come directly from his mouth, there
are other key expressions that can clue you in regarding his romantic interest.
Does he text you to make sure you made it home okay?
Does he remind you to bring a jacket because it's a bit chilly outside?
Does he touch base just for the sake of saying hi?
If he's keeping the communication lines open, it means his heart and mind are as well…
So… does he like you?
The next time you're wondering if a man is truly into you, pay close attention to the
many facets of his behavior.
"You love him.
And he totally complimented you.
That is so fetch!"
When you know what to look for, it's not really that difficult to figure out.
And with these tips and tools at hand, the real question on your mind won’t be whether
he likes you, but rather if you like him in return.
