It's Fevir..
Today we'll take a look at the first playable glimpse of the Black Desert Striker.. teasers
of a vampire game that just screams edge.. and some more Ashes of Creation information
has dropped including a crowdfunding drive- so it's time to talk about it.
So earlier this month at the Oasis Festival- one of Black Desert's offline events.. they
took some time to let people in on what to expect in the coming year for the game.. among
the announcements were some really cool things- a sea creature that is as big as one of the
cities- Heidal, mountable airships, a pve hold style gameplay activity.. they hinted
at both climbing and art as new life skills.. but more to the point they outright announced
the Striker class.. and teased the next class after it in silohette.
That Striker class became playable on April 20 for the Korean Client.. and dear lord is
he a lot of fun.
Pulling most of his moves and animations not even from just kung fu and martial arts..
but he seems to have his own kamea maya and Ryu's Dragon Punch.. and has a combo chain
playstyle that reminds me of the Kung Fun master from Blade and Soul.
That said.. this is pre-awakening.. no hints at what that awakening weapon or playstyle
could be..
I really hopeing we see something like sais.. or nunchuks... using the window of time between
the Dark Knight KR release and NA release.. we'll probably see him in about 2 and a half
months.
So make sure to reserve your Jet Li, Ip Man and Jackie Chan names now... and start saving
for weight increases for the inevitable reroll.
The thing about making videos are that random people contact you to cover a game they are
excited about.. in the years I've been doing this..
I have never seen as much.. over so little.. as with the the recently announced .. Code
Vein.
I took a second to look into it.. and I understood the excitement.. at first.
They released a heavily stylized and unique teaser trailer.. and then they end it with
the #PreparetoDINE.. hoping to draw hype from the iconic..
Dark Souls.. prepare to die.
Cool.
After the trailer was released they dropped some more information about the game and screenshots
that looked nothing like the trailer.. but information such as having a release on 'major
home consoles in 2018- whatever that means.. hopefully PC AND the Switch is included in
that... then they drive home some heavy sanguine.. vampiric.. like themes and build up this post
apocolytpic.. ish.. setting.
Which is all good on it's own since I can't think of games that really took on the vampire
theme and did it well since like Masquerades or the Legacy of Kain games.. which were incredible.
But.. outside of us seeing some underwhelming screenshots- a release date.. some background
lore and knowing it is an aRPG made in part by some of the guys from God Eater we know
nothing.
That hasn't stopped it from already being labeled things like an anime bloodborne..
or tokyo ghoul meets dark souls.. or.. what my expectations are probably more in line
with.. an edgy reskin of God Eater... but we know nothing.
One thing is for sure, nothing but love, this is the kind of game that is right up Cry's
alley.. so if you want to engage in wild speculation..
I'll throw a link to him in the description.
Ashes of Creation.
Oh boy.
I have held off on talking about this game for quite a while..
It's an aspiring MMORPG.. that without getting to far into it.. looks as if it's an MMORPG
made for gamers, by gamers.. one of which was a massive force in ArcheAge, alledgely-
and while he wouldn't know it..
I've interacted with him quite a bit.
Intrepid Studios.. or the Ashes of Creation team have been posting some videos going over
various parts of their game.. the last two were focused on a node system.. an idea that
different points in the world.. can evolve over time.. with effort.. from nothing.. to
some camps.. to a city.. to a metropolis.. and as they grow it opens up elements of the
game such as housing- and as nodes grow their influence and what they can effect and impact
range from just in their own areas.. to neighbouring reas.. to the whole game world itself.. and
in different ways depending on who is in control.. and of course.. there is a lot more to it..
they talk about it for 16 minutes..
I gave it 20 seconds.
And much like everything you can dig up on the game.. they say all the right things..
they do have a lot of really cool ideas.
The reason why I haven't really spoken about them.. or Chronicles of Elyria.. is that-
it's all just ideas.
Ashes of Creation is heading into a crowdfunding cycle on May 1st- I'd imagine a lot of even
what they've show as game assets and art- are placeholders.. since I recognize some
of it- and it's admirable that they took a year to really to work and start development
on a game- hopefully papercraft design- before they scale up and ask for our money- but for
me..
I place 100x more value in implementation than ideas.. especially in a project as large
and complex as an MMORPG- realistically.. it's probably a 2019-2020 release date.. so
I have time to remain.. not skeptical.. but to just see it take a real shape.
That's going to do it for me.
Until next time.. this is Fevir.
Peace.
Hey guys.. quick ending note to the video.
So as I mentioned the other day- this kind of.. quick thoughts on things that are happening/news
segment.. is something that I had in mind.
I chose some pretty neutral topics.. and am including this outro type thing.. because
I want to flesh this out.
As is.. the idea for now.. is throughout the week..
I'll collect things that were interesting to me.. and make a quick video like this on
the weekend.. as I get more comfortable and able to create a template.. maybe it can be
twice a week.. which makes the information more timely and relevant- also if there is
something I should take a look at - tweet me @fevirtv or hit me in Discord.
But.. from intro- to graphics- to pacing- to length- to video title- to series name.
feedback, feedback, feedback.
Thanks a lot, have a nice weekend.
