Installation and First Session

Open your web browser

Type englishmemo.com in the address bar of your web browser

Go to EnglishMemo site and scroll the main page until the box with the download button
Click on Direct Download button
Click on 'Show all' button
If your browser shows an alert message, confirm the download. If you use Google Chrome, click on Keep label
Wait until the end of the download (the time to download depends on the speed of your Internet connection)
The download is over. Click on EnglishMemo.msi to run the installer
Close the web browser.
You should see this message. Don't worry about it. If you downloaded the file from our website you can rest easy. Our software is absolutely safe and doesn't contain spyware or malware.
Click on the Run button to start the installation.
Accept the licence agreement and click on the 'Install' button
After the installation, click on the Finish button to run the software
Wait for loading of EnglishMemo software
At first start you have to select your language to translate the English phrases
You can choose between over 100 languages. For instance in this video we set Italian language.
Click on the 'Start' button to run the translation to the selected language
After the translation you can close the dialog window
You'll see the interface text in your language. Note: The translation language for the English phrases shall be set to your native language. The language for interface's texts can be set to English language (preferred) or in your native language.
If you want to to see the interface's texts in English, click on 'Preferences' button and select the English item in the combo box

If you prefer to see the interface texts in your native language you have to click on 'Preferences' push button in the vertical toolbar and select your language in the selector displayed in the 'Graphical interface language' box.
To close the application you have to click on 'Close' button in the toolbar and confirm the exit
From now on you can launch EnglishMemo by a click on icon placed on the desktop.
And now, your first session with EnglishMemo software. Are you ready?
Click on blue button to start the session
Now you are in a question page (front side of the flashcard). The image with a pen and the English flag indicate a question from English to your native language.
Did you hear the english phrase? Now you have to write (in the yellow field) the English phrase of which you heard the sound. In this way you'll learn the comprehension and writing of the phrase
When you type the last letter of the phrase the software automatically shows the page with the answer
In the answer page you can see the text of the English phrase and the translation to your language.
You have to indicate to the software the quality of your answer. To do that you have to click one of five available buttons named 'Black out', 'Incorrect', 'Hard', 'Good' and 'Perfect'
On the top of each button you can see the number of the days until to next visit for this flashcard.
In this case the answer was written quickly. No help was called. So the quality of the answer can be considered 'Perfect'. The software will show again this flashcard in 4 days
Now you can see the next flashcard. The image with a ballon with English flag as background indicate a question from your native language toward English.
You'll see the phrase in your language. You have to translate (in your mind) the phrase in English and to pronounce the phrase. In this way you'll learn the meaning and the speaking of the phrase
After your speaking click on button 'Listen answer' to listen the correct pronounce. Compare your diction with the correct diction.
If your translation and your diction are correct and if you didn't request any help in the question page, you can click on the 'Perfect' button
Next phrase. Write the English phrase of which you heard the sound
When you make a mistake the background of the field is switched to red color and a beep is played. You can get a letter for help by a click on 'A letter' button
One mistake occurred and one help was required so we can indicate a 'Hard' quality. The phrase 'Thank you' will'be visited next time in 2 days
Next phrase. Translate the phrase in your mind and speak it. After your speaking, click on button 'Listen answer' to listen the speaker and compare your diction with the diction of the speaker.

Next phrase is played. You have to write the phrase in the yellow field
You can get a letter or a word or the play again help.

If you don't know the translation of the phrase you can get the individual words ('A word' button) or the whole phrase ('English phrase' button). Speak the phrase and click on 'Listen answer' button
When you can't translate the phrase you have to indicate the 'Black out' quality so the same flashcard wil be displayed again in the session
In the question in which you have to write the English phrase you can see the 'Missing words' button. Calling this help all words to the end of the phrase will be displayed in disorderly mode. You have to type the words in the right order.
The help 'Missing words' give you all words of the phrase so the quality of your answer is 'Black out'. Clicking on the 'Black out' button, the phrase 'Have a nice day' will be visited again in this session.

In the status bar you can see how many flashcard are to go till the end of the session.
New cards are the flashcards never displayed before (you can set in the Preferences how many new flashcard you want to visit in the session)
The visited cards are the flashcards already visited and that will be displayed in the session. In this first session they are the flashcard for which you indicated a 'Black out' quality answer (for this quality the next visit is scheduled in the same session)

A little tip: before you click on button 'Black out' is a good idea to listen the audio of the phrase 2-3 times while you observe the English phrase and its translation. For this reason in the answer page is placed the button 'Play again'. Use it.

No visited cards are scheduled into the next session. This happened because in the finished session we've never indicated an 'Incorrect' quality for which the software schedules the next visit the day after

In the Today's session' box you can see the number of the new and repeated flashcards visited in the day
