Welcome to this week's "LoL Post-Game Review".
As the LPL playoffs approach, teams are becoming more concerned with their battle conditions.
So for this episode of "LoL Post-Game Review"
We have brought you the "The Art of Attack: The Global Ganking System".
Let the opponents experience the clever rotations that will destroy them instantly.
Let's look at the first game of IG vs. IMay in the Week 8 of LPL.
Follow me as we will let the squishy backline carries experience the true meaning of despair!
First, let me introduce the leading roles for this system.
The Furious Beast that Speeds Through the Rift: Rengar
The Top-Laner Every Man Want to Call Upon: Shen
And The Mid-Lane Sorcerer who Can Block Valleys at Anytime: Taliyah
Although the three roles are all different positions, they share a common speciality.
And that is they have very high levels of initiation
Using their ultimates to assist others globally.
This is a team composition that is suited for finding opportunities and creating tempo.
With this composition, IG's botlane naturally could play very comfortably
since their top, mid, and jungle positions can assist them at anytime.
They only need to focus on this four-word strategy:
Pressure lane, take tower.
After completing BoTRK ,the ADC would have higher survivability in mid-game team fights
And the extra gold gained from botlane first turret kill would revitalize the top and mid roaming lanes.
Before we get into the main topic, let's look at how IG does their early game preparations.
Kid's Rengar did not start his jungle with Raptors - the usual route on this patch.
But he started with his blue buff instead.
After reaching level 3, he would stay near the bot side of his jungle.
Which would effectively leverage the ability of the top, mid, and jungle positions to assist the botlane.
And this very unusal Jungle route could
only be seen clearly from a bird's-eye view.
But for Team IMay who were in the game,
Without vision, they could only use their experience to guess Rengar's position.
That is how we will see the following situation.
After clearing his Raptors, Graves went to the enemy blue buff trying to contest.
But he only found the scent left behind by Kid. No blue buff was to be seen.
He finally returned to his own blue buff after wasting a lot of time
Just to discover that his blue buff was also taken.
Even if the alerted IMay now realized that Rengar is hovering botside jungle
It is still impossible for them to completely give up the laning phase at bot.
Finally at the 4:23 mark,
IMay's bot lane duo couldn't resist the urge to kill the Lulu who was baiting.
Eventually losing first blood to the Rengar that has been camping for almost half a minute.
If we have to analyze in detail over this play from IG,
The pushing side's Lulu would actually reach level 3 slower than Nautlius.
But this is such a small detail that maybe only Detective Conan can uncover.
However, in Solo Queue, if you find your lane getting pushed back yet you are higher level,
You need to think whether that fragile Support
is a slice of cake or a trap.
Returning to the main point of this review,
let's first look at an error made with this Global Ganking system.
Kids, don't do this at home!
For IG, even though they started this tower dive well by instantly killing the enemy ADC,
but ultimately, it ended horribly.
Let's analyze the cause and effect of this team fight.
First, IG's composition strength is their ability to roam and outnumber their opponents.
And the power to instantly pop someone to increase the number advantage.
What happened after was they targeted the support...
Hehe...I think you guys know what I mean.
But IG's mid and jungle movement was all within IMay's field of view,
This careless assistance would not effectively utilize the element of surprise when diving a tower.
IMay had plenty of time to prepare.
After realizing that IG wanted to dive bot, IMay's Jungler immediately headed bot to assist.
And IMay's top Kennen and mid Twisted Fate can use Teleport or Ultimate to assist bot.
So even if IG successfully killed someone instantly,
If we count IMay's tower,
Both teams have about the same number of people in this teamfight.
Also, due to the fact that IG's Lulu took the tower aggro too early,
This lead to Kennen easily 1v2 after entering the teamfight,
Which quickly cause IG to fall in disarray in this teamfight.
Some viewers would have realized that this was the same mistake covered in our last week's review.
Of course, one cannot end a game without a good strategy.
If it is a good strategy, then it should be attempted a second time.
For the rest of the game, IG demonstrated the terror of a successfully executed Global Ganking comp.
Let's look at the teamfight at the 20th minute.
Both teams have about equal kills and income at this point.
IG's three-man group was about to dive the top lane tower.
Taliyah at mid and Shen at bot both have their ultimates,
Which fulfilled the criteria for this five-man dive rotation.
On IMay's side, they have three people defending top tower.
Twisted Fate has his Teleport,
But the split-pushing Kennen at bot has his Teleport on cooldown.
Judging this situation from most solo queue experiences,
IMay thought they should be able to fight under tower.
They thought they don't need to back off from this fight.
After Taliyah with Shen Ultimate blocked the retreat path for IMay's three-man group,
Rengar was already in midair.
Ashe and Lulu flanked from the side.
The Varus right now is in...(sigh)
Feels bad for you...in one second, I think we can all feel it from watching the screen.
Even with his Ultimate, Varus could not change the outcome.
Varus and Nautlius both gets annihilated.
Only IG's Rengar that was tanking turret shots received considerable damage.
TF did not dare to assist after teleporting.
That is the terror of the Global Ganking system.
Because it doesn't matter how many opponents have Teleport or can assist.
It would be too late for the other team.
(Chinese cartoon reference)
Of course, IG could not win the game simply from this one teamfight.
But IMay could not do anything against this Global Ganking system.
Since their team comp. has AD Kennen and TF that are mainly split-pushers,
This constant threat hindered their ability to continue split-pushing.
They also lacked the ability to beat IG in a 5v5 teamfight.
It ultimately led to IG snowballing their lead and winning the game.
At this point, some viewers would definitely ask
If I pick a 5v5 focused team comp. that would dump all their ultimates at once to instantly destroy IG
Then wouldn't it counter this Global Ganking system?
But you need to remember that the scariest part about this system
Is its ability to quickly reinforce sidelanes during laning phase.
If the opponent mishandle a situation once, they would get snowballed on.
And that is the hardest part to communicate amongst 5 players in a solo queue game.
The best counter is to either break up this team comp. or join them.
To quote Sun Tzu: know yourself, know your enemy, and you shall win a hundred battles.
Now, I will summarize the principles of this system and how to execute it.
And help all the premade (5s) players gain ELO in solo queue.
First, the two main aspects of the Global Ganking system are coordination and synchronization.
Using the numbers advantage.
But if any of the three-man roaming squad comes late or not at all,
It may result in failure in focusing someone down.
This would require lots of practice to develop team synergy
And using the terrain advantage to prevent the enemy reinforcements from arriving early.
Both would have a lot of impact.
Another main focus of this composition is to instantly kill someone.
Skills must be used quickly and decisively.
After using the Rengar Ultimate, knowing that the opponent reinforcements are coming,
There is no retreat. He can only win by killing the enemy backline.
Their goal is to kill the enemy backline while the enemy frontline can only watch.
Against this 5-man tower diving team comp. it would be difficult to survive.
If you want to counter this in solo queue, you must start by stopping their focus fire attempt.
Taric or Tahm Kench Support can buy some time for reinforcements to arrive.
The core principles of this composition are: Assist (Roam), Initiate, and Tower Dive.
Unmatched initiation ability and the ability to divide the battlefield,
This courageous yet cunning strategy gives us the ability to always strike first.
Enough talking, time to find some premades and start winning every game!
