that you're doing right now?
- Because then they can do this.
Please stop.
(upbeat music playing)
Hello the internet, welcome to daddy daughter DIYs.
Today we're gonna be making safe slime
because borax can burn your hands, so yeah.
- Well safety first guys and so you guys have probably seen
some of the videos out there talking about how the slime,
that's being made by millions of kids
all over the world, is burning hands.
- Oh my God!
- So Johnna took it upon herself to find
a safe slime alternative.
- I realized that it would be safe because saline solution
is able to
- What is saline solution?
- It's contact lens solution.
- Oh
- So it's able to go in your eyes so it should
be able to go on your skin 'cause they're so much
more sensitive than your skin.
And then baking soda can go inside of you
so why shouldn't it be able to go outside of you?
- What, you think you can just bake with it?
- Yeah.
The other ingredients that you'll be needing
are some PVA glue
and make sure it's
stolen from your little brother.
You need a bowl, something to mix with,
you'll need, what's it called?
Oh, shaving cream.
It's not whipped cream dad.
- Oh, shaving!
- Oh, I thought you meant...
(piano music)
- (laughs) food coloring
- Why is there only one bowl?
- Because we're gonna be sharing this one.
And then...
- You mean I don't even get to do anything?!
- We have a tiny spoon (laughs).
This is for like measurements,
we're gonna be pouring contact lens solution into it
so that we don't accidentally pour too much
and we need, there's this tiny hole so we need
the tiny spoon to get into it
and get the baking soda out.
And then we have extra shaving cream
and contact lens solutions
because it's gonna be bigger so.
So.
- Small portions please Johnna.
- Dad we're making a big slime.
Okay, so start out pouring your PVA glue.
(grunting sound)
- That's a good way to get elbowed in the eye right there.
Doesn't look safe to me, this is anything but safe.
This is danger, we're making dangerous slime right now.
Danger slime, it's the slimiest slime
in your danger life!
- Okay.
So uh you, put in your shaving, wait.
- Why don't you leave that up to a professional?
- No thanks.
- AKA me.
- Okay, dad help me mix it.
- Oh you need help?
- Yeah we're both making this slime.
- When you get tired then I'll do it.
Don't make me do all the work.
- (laughs) stop.
I'm gonna put some food coloring in.
I'm using green.
- You should do green and then I was thinking
maybe you could, what other colors are you gonna use?
- Just green.
- Just green, green's probably the best
let's just do green.
Good idea Johnna.
- Okay, so I'm putting a lot of food coloring in.
- Why don't you put a lot?
That way it's really colorful.
- Yeah 'cause I want it really dark because it's big slime.
- That's a good idea, right.
- Yeah.
- Yeah just do the whole bottle.
- [Sarah] Now Johnna does this slime
feel as nice as the.
- It feels exactly the same if it's done right.
- So there's no drawbacks?
Mmm, this looks delicious, when do we eat it?
- So no I'm gonna get.
- Whoa! That didn't look safe. Okay.
Just trying to make sure we keep it safe.
- Okay so just gonna...
- Oh, you spilled some here.
Is that poison?
Is this toxic?
Let me read the ingredients.
Baking soda.
- Dad it goes in food.
Okay so mix that in and then
we're gonna need some more of that because.
- Oh, I'm sure glad you have two spoons and I have none.
- Will you just?
- Yeah, let me do it.
- [Sarah] Can't you just dump it?
- No
- [Sarah] 'Cause it ruins it if you put too much?
- It will clump it up if you don't spread it out even.
- I say if you're making safe slime this should be a plastic
bowl and not glass.
What happens if this drops and shatters then it's a foot.
That's not safe.
- That's! Safe slime means that you don't,
that you don't get burned and it's safe to play with.
- Oh.
Oh we could just smear this all over the walls
and we have a green screen
and then we can make it look like we're in Morocco
or, you know, Pennsylvania.
- Why don't we just smear your shirt all over the walls?
- The moon, the bottom of the ocean.
- Okay, so now you put in.
- Atlantis, Disneyland.
- The contact lens solution.
- The top of Mt. Sanai.
- [Sarah] More saline?
- Magic Mountain.
- What?
- [Sarah] More saline, or is this
the first saline you're putting in?
- This is the first.
- [Sarah] Uhh, there's boric acid in this.
- What?!
(Curb Your Enthusiasm Themesong)
- [Sarah] (laughs)
- In the saline solution?
- Contents, a sterile isotonic buffered solution
that contains boric acid, sodium borate,
potassium chloride, sodium chloride.
- I think the point is that when there were
no guidelines on how much borax you could put in,
this has a fixed tiny amount
and so you're not gonna burn yourself.
- Wait, why are we putting boric acid in our eyeballs?
(laughing and screaming)
It's good for my hand.
- That looked good, oh I got some on me,
here you go have it.
Oh wait, that wasn't that, it was a booger, sorry.
- Thanks dad.
- Okay so Johnna, exactly what is a typical serving
of this that you would feed to your dog or little brother?
- These are boogers, you don't feed them.
- Once again, explain to me why do kids make slime?
Children, leave a comment
and explain to me why you make slime.
(yelling)
(laughing)
It's karate chop-able.
- [Sarah] So they even have, Equate sterile
for sensitive eye saline solution.
- You could probably use that.
- [Sarah] Has the boric acid in it.
- What the poop, man?!
- Who's poopman?
(laughs)
- [Sarah] In very controlled doses boric acid is okay
and what was happening with the kids
that were getting burned is that they were
just using way too much boric acid.
- So, you're saying.
- [Sarah] So this is, this is safe.
- Ouch! God, Johnna, I told you it's not safe!
(laughing)
- Okay ready?
- Uh-huh.
Okay why do kids do this thing that you're doing right now?
- 'Cause then they can do this.
Please stop.
(crackling sound)
- What has happened to our society
that kids just wanna do this?
Well this has been fun.
Goes to show you that you don't have to work
with dangerous ingredients just to have
a good time with your child.
(laughing)
- Thanks for watching us make this gigantic booger.
It was really fun and now you know how to make
the safe slime so you can be safe when you have fun.
So, thanks for watching, peace out.
