What's inside Pie Face Game?

- Welcome back to What's Inside?
I'm Lincoln, this is Dan.
- I'm right here.
- I can't see him.
But today, we're going to cut open pie face.
- Pie face?
We need some competition for Lincoln.
So, we enlisted a couple of our friends
and you may know them.
That's right, we got Miss Monkey
and Mr. Monkey from the Eh Bee Family.
- Key style.
- Bee style (scat singing)
(scat singing)
- I want to see how this mechanism works inside.
How does it know, when you turn it
and it pops sometimes on the second time
and sometimes it pops on the sixth time.
Let's get inside of the internals of it
and see if there's a trick to it.

You ready?
Okay, we're going right into it.
- Hope I get five. - [Dan] It's happening.
- Two. - Two.
- [Dan] Lincoln got a two.
- Oh! (everybody in unison)
- Bet you're regretting putting
all that whipped cream on there.
- Two.

Three! (everybody in unison)
- No, I can't do it.
- One. (everybody in unison)

- [Dan] What is going on right now?
- A three.
- [Dan] You got a three.
- You're totally going to get hit this time.
(everybody cheers)
- Put extra, extra for the last round.
Lots.
- Five.
- [Dan] Four or five, either one.
- Goodbye, first try.
- Oh! (everybody in unison)
- It's so cold.
- [Dan] Does it taste good at least?
I mean, is that the reward?
- Yeah, it tastes amazing.
- [Dan] Alright, I think that's it.
Yeah, that's good.
- There's a pattern.
It's 10, one, seven, five.
- The Fibonacci numbers only make sense
when they're in order.
- [Lincoln] Five.
- You're not going to find the pattern.
Oh, there we go.
Alright, alright, that's good.
Everybody needs a chance, you're on What's Inside?
Use the hatchet, just don't switch it up too fast up high,
it'll hit your face.
Oh...
Okay, that's great.
My hands are on here.
- My turn? - Okay, Lincoln.
Lincoln gets a little wild,
I don't know if I fully trust that, so.
Everybody gets a chance, you're on What's Inside?
What if I just, get it in there and pop it out.
You can see inside of there, what's inside of the pie face.
- Wow.
Got it.
- There it is.
- [Lincoln] It's like a door.
- [Dan] Here we are, wow.
Want to see if it'll pop up.
Yes, it still pops up.
First thing you see is this spring right here,
there's one underneath it also did that.
There's another one on the front.
This little box is the one that we really need to get into.
The rest of this is just cosmetic and structural,
so that it can sit there.
I want to get in there and unscrew those two screwdrivers.
- Screwdrivers?
Unscrew screwdrivers?
- I got a screwdriver.
- Boom.
- [Dan] No?
- It's very hard.
- [Dan] Not far?
Maybe I need to unscrew something else.
- [Man] That was pretty gentle.
- [Dan] There goes this thing.
Hopefully we can still, oh good, good.
- [Man] Yes.
- [Dan] I just wanted to make sure that still functions.
Yes, thank you.
Safety is not first, but it's definitely
in the five here at What's Inside?
I don't know, a little bit more.
Oh, I'm seeing something here.
I wonder if we can just take those two screws off,
if it pops out.
Ooh, there's another one up in there.
(electronic music)
- Ooh, the box.
- [Dan] It just came out.
- Woah.
- There's ears.
What?
- It works.
Wow, it works.
- It goes into one, that's the pattern.
It has a same pattern.
- Alright, check this out.
Inside there, the inner wheel,
you see those little bumps inside of it?
- [Lincoln] Yeah.
- [Dan] Watch what happens when I turn it.
So, the next one we turn it.
- It's going to...
Oh, wow!
- Can I see?
- Here, see there's two of them right there.
- Oh yeah, I see it.
Oh. - Wow.
- Put it back over, there should be another one.
- Wow.
- That's so cool.
I thought it was just like random.
- The question that I have is,
does every pie face game have the same bumps on them?
Or do they come differently?
And if so, how many?
Maybe they make like six different types
of the little plastic ones with the knobs
and so They just mix it up.
I think what we do now is take it apart
and let's get that knob out.
(upbeat electronic music)
There's two bumps right there,
there's one bump right there, one bump right there,
one there, couple there.
This little ball has, one, two,
three, four, five, six, seven, seven of them.
This one has a super long time until it goes
and then there's one that follows up, right after it.
This one's just a couple away,
this one has a long break and then again,
two right after each other.
We have solved the mystery of the pie face game.
(kids cheering)
If you get one of these, you should be able to easily
find out the pattern.
- There's a pattern.
- You're not going to find the pattern.
Yeah, if you get one of these at home
and you just go through and count it up and write it down,
you'll be able to find a pattern
because it does just repeat every single time.
- I thought that it was going to be random
because that's what everyone says.
- I thought there was technology involved in this.
- Could have randomized it.
- It's just plastic and screws.
- We pretty much figured it out.
I think the only thing left to do.
- No!
