make a name for themselves once they get there.
Some superstars may look good on paper, but just aren’t able to connect with fans, or
maybe they just can’t perform at the elite level.
Here are the 10 WWE superstars who could be released in 2017.
A former tag team champion and member of the Hart Dynasty, Tyson Kidd is very likely to
never wrestle again so we may see him officially let go this year.
He was an outstanding wrestler and a great athlete, but due to the severity of the neck
injury caused by a botched move in a match vs Samoa Joe, we may never see his face in
the WWE again.
While WWE tried to get Darren Young over in 2016 with the help of Bob Backlund, Mr. No
Days Off hasn’t been seen on TV in what seems like forever.
Ever since the splitting of the Prime-Time Players, Darren has been struggling to make
a mark as a singles competitor, and his most recent push, may have been his last.
When you think about great wrestlers who just couldn’t get over, Curtis Axel always comes
to mind.
Despite being the son of one of the most charismatic superstars in history, Mr. Perfect, Axel just
didn’t inherit the ability to get a proper crowd reaction.
He is nowhere to be seen on TV nowadays and WWE is likely to cut ties with the younger
Hennig soon.
The Florida Gator Titus O’ Neil is almost in the same positon as Darren Young as he
could never get over on his own.
Although he is a great ambassador for the company and is entertaining in some segments,
that might not be enough to save his job if they need to cut a superstar or two.
To be fair, he is getting more screen time as of late and I did predict he would be released
last year, so who knows.
Combining numbers 6 and 5 are one of the most dominating tag teams in the history of NXT
and some of the most mishandled talents on the main roster; The Ascension.
Coming up to the big leagues with great potential, The Ascension were halted by bad booking and
the fact they kind of look like Legion of Doom wannabes.
Many say they were simply called up too soon, and unless they get repackaged, could be on
the chopping block.
Another NXT star who showed great potential but just couldn’t make it on the main roster
is Bo Dallas.
The real-life brother of Bray Wyatt has not found the level of success that he should
have considering he was one of the hottest acts in NXT.
Unfortunately for Bo, he was never booked strong, thus making him one of the last picks
in the draft last year, and has been barely seen since then.
It’d be a shame if WWE released him, so I hope he gets repackaged instead.
The former Vaudevillian Aiden English’s chances of not being released were very slim
even when he was part of a team.
Now that his former partner Simon Gotch is long gone, it seems like it’s only a matter
of time until Aiden is handed his termination papers.
Sure, Aiden is talented, but he just doesn’t seem to work in WWE either as a tag team or
singles competitor.
In 2011, Sin Cara came into the WWE with tons of hype and was praised as the heir to Rey
Mysterio’s throne.
However, he botched his entrance repeatedly, got suspended, and then injured… and that’s
just the first Sin Cara.
The character is now being played by the wrestler formally known as Hunico who is known to have
a temper and causes a lot of trouble backstage.
He’s also simply not that great in the ring, botching moves just like the original.
He did make a comeback on SmackDown this week, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s let
go later this year.
We all know the controversy surrounding the former Diva’s Champion Paige.
Paige is currently dating former superstar Alberto Del Rio, who himself has a lot of
bad blood with WWE, and was victim of leaked images and videos that hurt the company.
She also had two Wellness Policy violations in 2016, and at this point, many believe she
is trying to get fired.
Paige sure has a lot of fans, but they might not get to see her ever compete in a WWE ring
again.
And those are 10 WWE superstars who could be released in 2017.

if you have any to add.
