vaporleaf I am here today with the
alien 220 this is a really popular dual
1860 box mod and for good reason it's a
really small device it's nice and
powerful I mean for what you can get
from dual batteries not 220 watts it's
got all kinds of settings it looks good
it feels good in the hand and it's
pretty inexpensive so let's go ahead and
dive down and take a closer look at it
alright so here we are with the smok
alien 220 watt box mod we get a picture of
the device on the front of the box there
in the color that you buy it in a very
standard smok box there inside we get
our device some silica if we pull the foam
out and get our little trapdoor here a
whole lot of words a little screen
protector and a guide for putting the
screen protector on which is really nice
it's a little bit thicker than the one
that you get on there that's basically
just a film you can see it's already
peeling up at the end there it's pretty
normal
some more words more silica and a micro
USB cable now first impressions on the
device itself is it's pretty standard
smoke build quality which is to say not
very impressive
again it's not bad by any means it's
just not particularly good the the paint
has like little bits of dust in it it's
not a very smooth finish you can kind of
see where like the metal was ground down
on certain parts it's just not not
beautifully made but it's sort of like
you know good from far but far from good
far from great I should say it is good
the screen looks really nice on there I
like the way that they incorporated the
sort of diagonal face there with the
accent lines and the carbon fiber look
on the back there alien 220 watt TC good
bit of ventilation up here which is
always nice we got our 510 and four
screws up top four screws I think is
pretty important these days especially
with the whole the Fuchai bending
thing they added a third screw so four
screws is nice
you've got your big fire trigger on the
side there just like the GX 350 doesn't
press at the bottom so you're really
just kind of pressing the top there got
a little micro USB port there we've got
our dual battery door down here and that
basically just like a fuchai if you
watch that video slides off and opens up
it's pretty straightforward we've got
our markings down inside of there I
really like that on the white one the
whole battery bay is white that's that's
a cool look and then you've got positive
and negative marked up here a and B so
let's go ahead and slide a couple batteries in
there and same thing as the fuchai
again you basically close the door a
little bit forward there and then slide
it back five clicks to turn the device
on fades into existence then fades out
fades in with alien fades out again and
then boom we're up in wattage mode here
now just like with the GX 350 you can go
down to six watts it's kind of a weird
one go down to and on this one in dual
battery configuration just like the
GX 350 you can go up to 220 watts so at
least they're consistent there now on
the screen here I hope it's not flashing
for you guys it looks like it's kind of
flashing on the camera for me but I
promise you it doesn't do that in real
life we've got our wattage our pre heat
setting the little W to denote wattage each of our
two batteries voltage ohms amps the mode
that we're in the temperature of the
chip the puff counter and the time of
our last puffs taken a whole lot of
information that most people really
don't need to know so this looks a lot
more intimidating than it is really
you're going to be paying attention to
you wattage battery life and resistance
but it's there if you're curious about
it and who knows you might even learn
something about it while you're vaping
on it so of course in wattage mode we can
go down and we can go up pretty
straightforward there if we do three
clicks on the fire button that gets us
into this settings menu here we can just
tap the fire button to scroll through
everything or we can scroll either way
with the up and down buttons so we'll
start off with mode if we hold that down
fire button down you can select watt or
temp or memory now if you watched the GX
350 video you did not have the memory
setting here but oh yeah and it can auto
select for you there so instead of
holding the fire button down you can
just wait yeah so anyway get back into
mode here you know let's let's actually
start with the memory setting there so
we have the option to set our preheat
here we have the option to set our
wattage and you can see it says m1 right
there so what happens when we come out
here it will say m1 now I'll let you in
on a little secret there are 22 of these
settings 22 memory settings now I don't
think that you can use temp control in these
settings I believe it just has to be
wattage but you can set the wattage on
each one of your memory modes it's it's
pretty wild 22 memory modes good luck
finding enough things to do with all of
those but I guess it's nice having too
many as opposed to too few right so
moving on we've got three clicks on the
fire button can hold mode down bring it
over into temp we can choose the
strength of our preheat the coil
material that we're using the
coefficient of resistance and then it
brings us out into this menu where we
can scroll through Fahrenheit or Celsius
basically just scroll to one side or the
other and it'll just go straight through
and here we have much the same
information except for down here now
instead of PCB it says watt this has the
same little shortcuts as usual so you
can tap fire button and to the left to
change your mode you can tap fire button
and to the right to change your wattage
in temp control mode or
your preheat in wattage mode again
it's pretty standard smok menu stuff
anyway if we do three more clicks here
we can get over to can we just skip
over puffs that's that's pretty
straightforward right
you just use max puffs how many puffs
you've taken reset your puffs all that
stuff nobody really uses that that's
right anyway if you do use it it's there
it's pretty easy to figure out so three
clicks on the fire button skipping over
puffs we can go to settings we've got
screen time how long the screen stays on
before it goes dark
screen lock which I haven't quite
figured out what that does it says auto
lock here so on or off I'm pretty sure
when you have Auto lock on it will just
let's see lock the device like that if
you just haven't used it for a while
anyway get back into that menu there
back to settings
we've got contrast change the brightness
of the screen adjust
ohm again pretty cool you can actually
change what your device is reading for
the ohms it says adjust initial ohm
there get back through that menu setting
and then we've got the download setting
so you do actually have to enable it to
to be able to download updates on this
guy you have to put it into download
setting another three clicks on the fire
button there we can get over to power
now this is going to be pretty
straightforward we have power on or off
if you select power off the device turns
off select power on the device stays on
now my favorite part is we do have those
shortcuts we've got the fire button and to
the left to choose our mode we've got
fire button to the right to change
either our preheat in power mode or our
preheat in temp control mode and if you
tap both of these it just locks the whole
device it's not locking just these
buttons it's locking everything so you
can't use the fire button you can't use
up can't use down and then you can just
tap to undo that instead of doing the
five clicks
and it does exactly the same thing too
so if we tap those we can hold the fire
button down that'll bring up a little
option to turn the device off just like
we saw in the menu earlier power off
power on and then you can hold the fire
button down to select one of those and
again five clicks to turn it back on now I'm
curious to see if this does two hundred
and twenty watts any better than any
other dual battery device does 220 watts
so I'm going to put my Buddha on there
today I'm going to do the hard preheat
I want this giving me everything it's
got so let's go ahead and bring it up
top and see how it vapes alright guys so
I got my gold buddha on there it's reading
0.274 ohms we're at 220 watts on the
hard preheat with full batteries let's
see how it goes
well unsurprisingly that is not 200
watts not 220 certainly it's not doing a
bad job of heating these coils up but no
better than any other dual battery
device I've ever used
I'd say that's 150 160 maybe a little
higher it's a little hard to guess when
the screen says 220 and you're not
getting 220 kind of annoying I kind of
wish people would stop doing that
vaporesso knows what's up Tarot Pro 160 160
watts it puts out 160 watts and it does
it really well
alien 220 does not put out 220 watts
but puts out 150 to 160 pretty nicely
moral of the story is I'm not surprised
by the power level but I'm also not
disappointed I'm getting about as much
as I expect out of two batteries it's
not bad so I'm going to go ahead and
throw something a little bit more
reasonable on here now the TFV8 I
figured that's going to be a pretty
popular combo is the alien 220 and the
TF v8 and I'm really liking my TF ba so
we're going to go ahead and see how that
does so I've got my TF ba down there at
85 watts hard preheat I've got the
shotgun coil in there the dual core so
0.174 ohms
six point four eight volts I'm sorry
four point one two one it hasn't updated
from the Buddha now I typically run this
tank on my low RX 200s so three
batteries plenty of power at 85 watts
I'm not surprised by that but the
battery life but I think it'd be better
when I use it consistently it gets me
through a day but three batteries
getting you through a day I'm not super
optimistic about a dual battery device
getting you through the day with the
same tank on the same settings but let's
see how it does
it's good I think that does actually
feel a little bit more powerful from the
Ark's 200s because that hard preheat so
pre heat settings nights let's say what
can this thing go up to 150 watts let's
try 100 50 watts because I said that
that's probably about the max output of
this device it's going to be a little
intense on this let's open the airflow
up
well it didn't burn it was getting close
though so doing that nicely
what's that let's put it up to 2 xx and
see if it feels stronger huh so we
worked 5 point 5 to 7 volts now we're at
three point nine three nine oh never
mind five point nine seven wait hold on
150 watts five point five to four
okay so we're jumping up half a volt so
150 watts was a little intense so to the
TF v8 I don't think it's the best
setting but that's also the highest they
recommend for this and it does indeed
work just not very well so I fit it up
to 220 watts see if I get more power out
of it well maybe a little more maybe
just maybe I'm going to go down to 160
see if that feels in a different I don't
know 60 watts no change so I think the
max of this device is 160 watts beyond
that you're not changing anything except
to the number so again not surprised
about the power level but it's still
pretty good and 160 it's not bad two
batteries come in 260 watts it's not
even getting that warm either typically
when you're really pushing the dual
battery device it'll start to get kind
of warm this is doing pretty well it
stand pretty cool I have to say to the
hand feels really nice the fire button
feels really nice - it's really nice and
clicky even the adjustment buttons feel
good again nice and clicky again not a
huge fan of the smoke chip but
with the shortcuts the like you know
click those buttons to lock the whole
thing and and the fire button to the
left fire button to the right to change
your mode and all that it becomes a
little easier I prefer to not have to do
the three clicks to get into the menu
and change all that stuff it's a little
too convoluted for me but you do have
all those settings available if you want
them which is always nice I mean most
people they're just going to be using
wattage on this and not even going to be
playing with temp control so to have all
those extra options outside of wattage
mode they're just they're you know it's
not hurting anything you don't have to
mess with those and wattage mode so it's
no big deal I like it it's great again
build quality is smoke build quality not
terrible but not the best I do think the
look is sort of above and beyond for
what they normally do this is a really
good looking device the size is great I
mean it makes the TF v-8 look absolutely
massive which is kind of cool it's it's
a really compact little dual battery
device so all in all I'd say it's good
verging on great I think there's a very
good reason for its popularity it's a
great choice for 80% of vapors that want
a dual battery device so that's about
going to do it for today guys thank you
