like so dreary and rainy outside lately. So if you’re wondering why I look a little
bit darker today than usual…like it looks darker in here, that’s why. I am very excited
today to bring you my thoughts on the Cake Beauty Dry Styling Products. I have talked
about all three of these products in past videos, mainly favourites videos, so if you’re
an avid watcher of my channel you’ve seen what I think of all three of these before,
but I figured I would do one video of all three of them together to kind of just…throw
it out there. So I’m going to kind of do this as quickly as possible and run through
each of the three things, two of which are on my hair today. Yeah. So let’s start with
“The ‘Do Gooder Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray”. I do believe in general, just so
you know, that the Dry Styling line is exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada, Of course
you can buy them from the Cake website, I’m not sure where you can get them in the States
and, ya know, beyond Canada, but if you’re looking for these products in Canada, that’s
where you’re going to find them is at Shoppers. Anyway back to “The ‘Do Gooder”. This
is “The ‘Do Gooder Volumizing Dry Shampoo Spray”. It says it’s residue-free, quick
cleaning, utterly unsticky, bounce boosting, style extending. Glow Editor: “My hands-down
favourite dry shampoo.” It retails for 19-dollars Canadian. It says: “Does your dry shampoo
leave your hair lifeless and dull? Do you dream of a second-day hair routine that gives
you that freshly blown out look every single morning? If you’re totally over formulas
that weigh you down with unwanted residue, it’s time to meet The ‘Do Gooder. This
quick cleaning confection cleanses, refreshes, and revives your locks all while completely
brushing out at the end of the day – meaning you can go ahead and enjoy those third-, fourth-
and fifth-day hair goals! The superb scent: warm vanilla, caramelized sugar, and a gorgeous
hit of lemon.” I have to say, in the past year or so I have tried a lot of dry shampoos,
and this one is my favourite. Not just because it smells nice but because I feel like it
does help control the oil in my hair. My hair is not typically that oily to begin with,
just to put that out there. But I really do feel like when my hair is greasy because I
haven’t washed it in a few days this does help get rid of that AND like they said it
really doesn’t weigh it down. That’s my thing with other dry shampoos is that they
really do make my hair feel heavy or, like, sticky. Or I still can’t run my fingers
through my hair, whereas with this I definitely can. Even though my roots have grown in a
little bit…quite a bit actually let’s be honest, I do have dyed black hair. So when
a dry shampoo leaves a white residue you can really tell, and this does not do that for
me. It’s got a really nice aerosol spray *sprays* and overall it’s just a really
great dry shampoo and I think it’s very comparable to more expensive dry shampoos
too. Probably should have said this at the beginning of the video but my hair is thick
and I have a lot of hair, but it is naturally very flat, and straight, and sad. And it doesn’t
really tend to get greasy it kind of goes more dry the longer I leave it, but it does
get a little bit greasy at the roots if I leave it for like a long time so that’s
when I use this. But I love this so much for adding volume, and for just kind of making
my hair a little more poofy because it’s not naturally very goofy, that I often find
myself reaching for this and wanting to use it on clean hair because I really like it.
Overall can’t say enough good things about “The ‘Do Gooder” I definitely recommend
you trying it. Cake Beauty is a company that all their products are cruelty-free, I believe
most if not all of them are vegan, and they’re made in Canada. GREAT! Moving on, this is
the Cake Beauty “The Wave Maker Texturizing Beach Spray”. This retails for 19-dollars
as well and it says: “Beachy bed-head waves are all the rage - but if you’ve ever tried
a traditional beach spray (or spent a day at the ocean), you’re all too familiar with
the fact that you have no choice but to wash out those sticky locks the next day. Because
most beach sprays are driven by salt, your mane is subject to day-of stickiness, day-after
dryness, and days-in the-future damage. The Wave Maker is instead powered by natural sugar
to create soft, touchable waves that easily brush out day after day after day. The superb
scent: Juicy ripe lemons and candied sea grass, with a hit of bright beach air.” Out of
all the Cake Beauty Dry Styling products this was the one that I wanted to try the most
because I have always wanted a beach spray. Like I said, my hair is naturally very straight.
I don’t really like to wave it or curl it often because it does take so much work and
my hair doesn’t really hold it because it’s so straight. But I wanted a spray to just
give it that texture, that beachy-sorta texture feel so it’d be like bigger, and poofier,
and ya know, that’s what I wanted. And I had tried so many other beach sprays and I
even thought that I liked some of them, but they always did kinda leave me with that sticky
feeling and then the next day they would leave me kind of dry feeling and overall it didn’t
feel great for my hair. Well! This badboy changed the game. This is one of those sprays
that I can just spray into my hair and it adds like an instant texture. You’re definitely
not going to have shiny hair after you use this but this is what’s going to give you
that sort of………see what I mean? Like it just sticks out? My hair would never stick
out like that usually it would just, like, find a way to fall flat. That is this. This
is what’s creating that sort of hold, and that…I don’t want to say stick in my hair,
but that mold-ability is created by “The Wave Maker”. I think if you have hair that
is like mine and that is hard to style because it’s so straight, you’re going to like
this. And I think you’re probably going to like it even more if you have naturally
curly hair because I can see this being something that helps ramp up your curls and not make
it frizzy and not dry them out because this is not salt based. Can’t say enough good
things about “The Wave Maker”. Out of the three products I’m reviewing here I’ve
had “The Wave Maker” in my possession the longest, I’ve had this bottle for months
and it’s still *shakes bottle* pretty full. It’s amazing…it’s just amazing. Now
the last product we’re going to talk about in this video is my least favourite of the
three, but I do still like it so don’t let that scare you off! So this is “The All
Powderful Tinted Dry Shampoo Powder: Dark”. Now it does come in Powder Medium, and Powder
Light, so obviously get the one that corresponds with your hair colour. But I got dyed dark
hair, which we will talk about in a second. So this says it’s: “velvety-soft, power
cleansing, bounce boosting, easy-blending, style extending. By nature, powder-type dry
shampoos absorb excess oil between washings, but many leave behind that tell-tale powdery
residue or weigh your hair down - leaving your look less than fabulous. The All Powderful
- which boasts second-day-and-beyond power cleansing that’s designed to knock your
socks off - has been formulated in three shades that are tinted to blend flawlessly, feel
weightless and add just the right amount of texture to make styling a breeze. The superb
scent: warm vanilla, caramelized sugar, and a gorgeous hit of lemon.” As far as a hair
product goes, I really do like it. I like that it adds that texture, that’s what I
would say this really does to my hair. It doesn’t really add volume, the dry shampoo
adds volume, this just adds texture it adds some sort of separation to my hair so that
it’s not all just sitting like a big sheet. It really does get in there and mix things
up a little bit, ya know what I mean. This, partnered with The Wave Maker, was my sort
of combo before I discovered the dry shampoo. And I would use them like all day every day
together to get sort of messy looking hair. It does smell good it is easy to use, you
just kind of salt-shaker some out on to your head and then rub it in…now that’s where
the issue comes. Because, you should be getting the one that matches your hair colour, right?
I am a pale girl, with dark hair. So when I use this if I happen to get any anywhere
other than my scalp, it shows up. And then, ‘cause I’ve got it all in my hair if I
happen to touch my hair throughout the day I take my hand down, and I’m covered in
dark stuff. And for the first little while, the first couple times I used this I was like
‘Oh that’s not a problem, that’s not a problem I mean I just won’t touch my hair.’
Touching your hair is such a habit. That is so hard to break. So out of the three products
I reviewed in this video, this is the one I use the least, simply because I get it all
over my hands, I get it all over everything whenever I use it. But it really does create
this…you see this almost…I don’t even I almost want to call it frizziness but it’s
not frizziness, but you know what I mean? I don’t have this in my hair naturally.
That’s what this created, this gave it some kind of texture. Now I don’t have a “Before
and After” review demo for you for this video because I seldom don’t have any product
in my hair because I use these all the time. But the best thing that I can do to show you
is take a look at this. This is a screencap from my September Favourites video when I
first chopped off all my hair. Do you see how flat my hair looks? It’s very shiny,
it’s very nice, but that was back when I wasn’t using any product in it at all. And
when I cut my hair, I had such great ideas! I had the best vision of my short hair and
how messy it was gonna be. Like…I was thinking the “No Promises” single by Demi Lovato,
and Cheat Codes, like the pictures that she’s been using for that single, that’s the kind
of hair that I had envisioned for myself when I cut it short but then I wasn’t using any
product so I wasn’t getting it. And now that my hair has grown a significant amount,
it obviously is not going to do that anymore because it is longer so it’s hitting my
body in a different spot and it is heavier. But if I ever cut my hair off again, and I
used these three products, or ya know, whatever combination of them I could, I really do feel
like I could get that Demi Lovato hair that I wanted *laughs*. All in all I do not think
that you need all three of these products, but I recommend all three of them, and I definitely
think they are worth trying. So just pick and choose from what you think you need. Do
you need a dry shampoo? Because this is the one that’s gonna really absorb oil and really
give you a little bit of volume. Do you want waviness and sort of like an added texture
throughout the strands of your hair? Because that’s what this is gonna give you. Do you
need to absorb oil and add a little bit of texture to the roots of your hair? Because
that’s what this is gonna give you this will also give you a little bit of volume
but not like the dry shampoo will. Anyway I hope you found this video helpful or entertaining
or anything positive at all. Thank you so much for watching! Please let me know what
you think and your comments in general down below! And I will see you next time. BYE!!!
Do you see how fluffy my hair looks? This is not how fluffy it is naturally!! This is
because of Cake Beauty!! My hair is naturally so flat and dead and not fun. But now I feel
like I could be in a Little Mix video!!…I mean like probably not but I COULD because
I have the hair for it, ya know
