I’m Oli Davis, and I’ll be replying to as many comments as I can for the first 15
minutes after this video goes live.
Are you a WWE superstar down on your luck?
Having to undergo serious elbow surgery back in February and abandoned by your life coach
Bob Backlund?
Well then why don’t you try the Jinder Mahal diet!
It includes no bread, no pizza, dear god that looks incredible and no fun of any kind.
Just look at No Days Off Darren Young, who’s tweeted a remarkable 3 month body transformation
on his road to recovery.
The ‘No Carbs’ Jinder Mahal diet has also worked wonders for another WWE wrestler - Jinder
Mahal himself.
After being brought back for last year’s brand split, seemingly destined for a career
of enhancement matches, he now finds himself in the main event picture on Smackdown with
a WWE Championship opportunity against Randy Orton at this Sunday’s Backlash.
Jinder has spoken to Chris Jericho on his Talk Is Jericho podcast about the sudden gimmick
change.
When Mahal first rejoined WWE, his heel character was based upon preaching the benefits of peace,
but then hypocritically beating up his opponents.
According to Jinder, he was originally meant to keep this gimmick as a main eventer on
Smackdown, but Vince McMahon made a last-minute, boo-the-foreigners change after the Maharaj
became the WWE Championship’s No. 1 contender: “He had re-written my promo after I won
the match.
The original promo was totally different...I liked the original promo better about how
I was once peaceful but nobody was listening to me, and now that I have all of your attention...but
since Vince wrote it it’s okay, so after I said it, the reaction I got, I was like,
oh man, Vince is a genius, he knows what is going to draw the most heat.”
You gotta love that outdated, 20 year ago heat.
Jinder also revealed that before resigning with WWE, he was potentially one day away
from joining TNA Impact Wrestling, back when Billy Corgan was the promotion’s president.
“There was a [TNA] PPV in Orlando on the Sunday, so I live in Tampa, they were like
‘yeah can you come and talk to us on the Sunday?
We wanna talk to you...Saturday, the day before, [WWE’s Mark] Carrano called me.
‘Jinder, we wanna sign you back.'”
No offence to Jinder Mahal, but a far more significant wrestling return proposal has
just been made - British promotion 5 Star Wrestling publicly offering CM Punk $1 million
to return to the ring.
“Whatever,” you might say.
“That’s all big promoter talk.”
But then again, this is the same promotion that had AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio wrestle
in 2015, became the first company in British history to broadcast a show live in January,
and are about to start wrestling’s biggest ever competition, with a 128 man tournament
held over a 30-week arena tour.
What makes this more credible, is that 5 Star owner Daniel Hinkles made the offer today
in British newspaper The Daily Star: “We want to offer CM Punk $1m to come and
join the 5 Star Wrestling tour.
We believe in what we’re doing, we want to make this as big as we can.
It’s a genuine offer.”
Punk left WWE in 2014 under very bad circumstances, making it unlikely he’d ever work under
Triple H again.
A wrestling return for another company, however, isn’t unthinkable.
Punk is currently under a multi-fight contract with the UFC, but since his quick debut loss
to Mickey Gall at UFC 203 last September, Dana White has been quiet over The Straightedge
Superstar’s future.
Many think that’s why Punk is currently appearing on MTV’s Champs vs Pros series,
as he may not be offered another fight.
Despite losing in just 2 minutes 14 seconds, Punk made a reported $500,000 for his debut
UFC fight.
5 Star’s $1 million offer is...wait a second...at least double that much.
We’ll hopefully find out soon, as 5 Star’s arena tour starts in Liverpool, England on
the 10th June - which you can buy tickets for at 5StarWrestling.co.uk.
Watch not just my review of Smackdown in about 4 minutes, where I explain why WWE don’t
care about go-home shows anymore, but also me and Luke Owen in the brand new WrestleRamble
episode, where we decide who won this week’s WWE battle - Raw or Smackdown?
