Topaz Yates back with another album review.
This time to David Banner The God Box.
I am giving this one the high end yellow light because it has a good selection of quality
songs that I enjoy.
As he has a lot of deep messages here as well that I am going to breakdown.
Yet my issue is that in many cases he is giving us more message than quality music.
This is something that I have spoken about alot over the years that the most important
thing you can do is make good music.
Basically make music that people will like without even paying attention to what you
are saying first.
Things like messages are the cherry on top that can take your music and make it last
the test of time.
Yet if it isn't quality from the jump then people will lean towards the music that simply
sounds good.
But before we breakdown this album realize that I already have reviewed four songs off
this project already in Who Want It, which was
one of my favorite songs
of this project.
Black Fist, A My, and My Uzi.
So if you want the full review then you will need to pull up the David Banner Playlist
and watch those videos.
But starting from the top with Magnolia.
This was one of my favorite songs off this project as that production was excellent,
the overall song was great, and I love the message here.
What the concept is starts with a magnolia, what is a magnolia?
A tree, as david banner is sitting under a
tree
as
it
is telling him its history of being the tree used to lynch black people.
Saying
that he wouldn't be an exception.
And this is deep because
you
would be surprised how many things are still around
from those times that if it could talk then it would tell you
something simular.
That is true all over especually here in charlotte.
