As you know, on this channel we talk a lot about the mandela effect,
other dimensions, and the possibility that parallel universes indeed exist.
And this is not just tin-hat-wearer talk,
parallel universes has been a hot topic among mainstream scientists as well
Even Stephen Hawking, in a speech last year, said he thinks black holes may be passageways
to other universes.
Of course this all sounds very interesting and star trek-y,
but now, according to a new study by researchers at Durham university,
researchers think they may now have the first ever proof that the multiverse really does
exist.
And if you dont know, the multiple universe theory or the multiverse theory proposes that
in the cosmos,
there are, well, multiple universes and by multiple I mean infinite.
Basically, every action you take, every decision you make,
creates a completely different reality.
So right now there could be a world out there where we lost the second world war,
or you are a hollywood actor, or even a world where hollywood doesn't even exist!
And if you find a way to cross into other universes and kill, well, you, in every one
of them,
you become the one...
Okay that probably wont happen.
But lets get back to this potential proof of the multiverse.
This all started in 2004 when researchers at NASA discovered something very strange
in space.
I mean yeah, they discover strange things all the time, but this really confused them.
What they discovered was an unusually cold region, and yeah space is already pretty cold,
but this region was 1.8 billion light years across and colder than its surroundings.
Like I said, this was very confusing to astronomers because it was impossible for them to explain
mathematically.
At the time, researchers thought that particular region was colder because it had 10,000 less
galaxies than other areas of roughly the same size and thus creating a void.
But this, according to this new study, researchers now think its colder because it’s caused
by another universe smacking into ours,
kinda like a universal car wreck.
And because of the force of the impact, energy was pushed out of the region, thus making
that particular area colder.
Professor Tom Shanks, an astronomer at Durham University and a co-author of the study said:
And this is all really exciting because if this is true, if this cold spot is the first
evidence of a multiverse,
and if parallel universes do indeed exist, alot of things just make more sense.
Like the whole Mandela effect thing where a huge portion of the population remembers
something so vividly that didn't really happen,
Or recalled something vividly that wasn't really the case.
For example, the TV show Sex in the City right?
Well it's not called Sex in the City, it's called Sex AND the City.
Also it's not "Luke, I am your father," it's "No, I am your father!"
And there are a lot of people who recall a genie movie from the 90s that starred Sinbad.
The only problem is there wasn't one.
And those same people insist they aren't confusing it with the 1996 flick Kazaam, which starred
Shaquille O'Neal as the genie.
And if you remember like I do in Forrest Gump, my favorite movie,
The line "Life is like a box of chocolates",
Well, you be wrong because apparently he said "Life WAS like a box of chocolates".
And if you remember eating Jiffy peanut butter growing up,
well you didn't because it's called Jif.
Curious George apparently never had a tail!
And this is the one that gets me the most because I do remember this vividly.
It's not the Berenstein Bears, it's actually called the BerenSTAIN Bears.
So either a huge portion of the population have memory problems or there do exist universes
or realities
where it IS Sex in the City,
where it IS the Berenstein Bears,
where life IS like a box of chocolates.
