I was not expecting it to make a noise.
(intense music)
Good morning everyone.
It is a bright sunny day outside
and the boys are taking advantage of that
and doing a little whittling.
Jacob is working on, what is this, a stop cut?
Using some new whittling technique
that he learned in his book that Duncan gave him.
He's got his knife and he's whittling away.
I have my knife and I'm gonna whittle this little piece
of wood alongside Jacob.
And my knife says JMS loves CFB.
JMS is Jessica.
Her last name started with an S, until she married me.
She got this before we were married in Switzerland.
So this is an actual Swiss Army knife from Switzerland
that she bought in Switzerland.
Isn't that cool?
- Yeah.
- [Christopher] Parker's got his knife.
He just realized that he has this knife.
It's got a can opener.
- And a pizza cutter.
- [Christopher] And a pizza cutter.
- And a knife and this is for hooking on your pants.
- [Christopher] Very cool.
- Or in your pocket.
- [Christopher] Yeah, so he's gonna open up that can
with his can opener.
I think that's good.
You can do the rest with your fingers probably.
Good?
And he's gonna whittle some play dough
with his play dough knife.
Ooh good responsibility, closing that up
before you open the next blade.
Which blade are you gonna use?
- This one.
- [Christopher] That one right there?
That looks good.
- It's a knife.
- [Christopher] It is a knife.
- [Jacob] I just did that one.
- [Christopher] You just did that one?
Oh that's some good notch cutting.
So we're playing outside.
Bailey and Jessica and Duncan
are having some quiet time upstairs.
They're cuddling.
We got our cuddles in this morning, didn't we?
We gave him some major cuddles.
And we're just trying to keep it quiet
and keep it calm and have a really good day.
Are you guys excited about the day?
- [Jacob] Yeah.
- [Christopher] Are you doing some carving?
Some play dough carving?
- Mmm hmm, I'm cutting.
- [Christopher] Ooh very nice cutting.
Good job.
What did you guys find?
- It's a squirrel.
- [Christopher] It's a baby squirrel.
Let's see if we can see it.
A baby squirrel, it's so little.
- [Jessica] It's so cute!
We should look up what to do.
If there's something we need to,
a way to get it to its mommy, if it's okay...
Oh it's so beautiful.
- [Jacob] Hey little guy.
Are you lost little guy?
You don't have your family anymore?
- [Christopher] He's so scrawny.
- [Jessica] He is.
- [Christopher] Do we wanna give him some food?
- [Parker] Yeah, I want to!
- [Christopher] Give him a little hiding place
if he goes for it.
- [Bailey] Here I'll crack open a few peanuts.
- [Christopher] He's hiding from you.
Is his trick working?
Can you not see him 'cause he can't see you?
- No.
- [Christopher] How did you find this little guy?
- He was going inside of here.
He was running really fast, he went inside of here,
and then, and then he ran over here,
and then he ran over here, and then he went over here.
- [Christopher] Whoa! (laughs)
I was not expecting it to make a noise.
So we've got a safe spot here
and we're gonna put some food in here.
He's got a little burrowing spot.
- [Bailey] You got to hold him?
- No, he wouldn't let me.
He kind of growled at me.
I didn't wanna freak him out.
I kinda scooped him up.
What do you guys think of all this?
- This is amazing!
We're saving the life of a baby squirrel.
- [Christopher] Yeah, so if he is able to get out
of that box, then we're gonna just let him go
and he can keep on living.
But if he's not able to, his mommy will come get him.
Or if his mommy doesn't get him by night time
then we'll call the humane society
and they'll come take care of the little squirrel.
Or rehabilitation center, not the humane society.
- This is the third animal I've rescued.
- [Christopher] Really?
What are the other two?
- [Jacob] They're not really animals, they're insects.
- Yeah, a mosquito eater, I saved it from a spider web.
- [Christopher] Okay, some people call those crane flies,
so if you don't know what a mosquito eater is
look up crane fly.
- And I saved a monarch butterfly.
- [Christopher] A monarch butterfly, from what?
- It had a bent wing when it came out of its chrysalis.
So it couldn't get to the other side where the flowers were.
It chrysalis was on the sidewalk,
so I rescued it, by bringing it up to Grandma's tree house
and giving it the flowers that the butterfly needs.
- [Christopher] Now we want the baby's mommy to come back.
We'll check on him in two hours
but we need to give the mommy space
because she's probably scared of us.
So we need to walk away,
and hopefully the mommy will come get the baby, okay?
So come on, let's go.
Well it's been a couple hours,
and as you can see, there's no more baby squirrel.
I guess the mommy came and took it away.
We have some very exciting news
that we have, not been keeping a secret,
but we didn't wanna get your hopes up on it.
Because it was a very long tedious process,
but we just found out today that we bought a house.
We bought a house.
- Yeah!
- So we are about to go to the house for the first time
as it is ours.
We've gone to the house and seen it before
and checked it out a lot.
But we are going to see it through the eyes
of owners of this house
because we bought the house.
All the paperwork's signed, everything's done.
It is our house and we're gonna go check it out.
- We didn't even know this was happening today
until just now, like they just called us and said
yeah, it's happened and you're done, you got the house.
- We haven't been talking a whole lot about it
because it didn't seem like it was gonna happen
and then it did seem like it was gonna happen
and then it didn't seem like it was gonna happen again,
and then it happened.
- They told us it was supposed to happen over a month ago.
Like that was when we were gonna close on the house
and then it was like, totally fell apart
and didn't happen.
- Our plan was to be moved in
a month before we had Duncan.
- And now, Duncan just came home
from the hospital yesterday.
- So now, we're gonna go see it.
We're gonna check it out.
It's our house!
So we're super excited.
I don't know what else to say.
We're gonna take you along with us
and we're gonna check out the house.
And we're so excited about the house!
It's got a really cool backyard, just so you know.
It's a really cool backyard.
- [Jessica] This is your new house!
- [Bailey] It's beautiful!
It's a hill!
(giggling)
- [Jessica] Oh my goodness gracious.
- So this is our backyard.
It has tons of lizards--
- You probably can't hear her anymore.
But this is our backyard.
She said there's tons of lizards
and she saw a lizard back here.
So these are our steps.
We go up these steps...
- Our whole backyard is on the top of the hill.
- [Christopher] So this is all part of our backyard.
So this is all part of our backyard too.
Oh cool.
So there's a basketball court over there
and over this little bridge there's a tree house.
It's like a park, isn't it?
I feel like you need to be up higher for it to work.
Like I feel like your bottom goes on that circle thing.
Okay, so those need to be trimmed a little bit up there.
You're up kinda high.
You ready?
Drag your feet!
Oh it stops by itself.
- [Bailey] My turn, my turn, my turn!
This is so amazing!
- [Christopher] Is that fun?
- I'm next!
- [Christopher] Do you like this place Parker?
Do you wanna live here?
Yeah?
This is pretty cool.
This is our room.
- And there's no bed in it.
- [Christopher] There's no bed in it, we gotta put one in.
A closet upgrade.
Is this gonna be your playroom Bailey?
- Yeah.
- [Christopher] I don't think so.
So this will be Duncan's room.
- Hopefully Wendy will come help us out with this.
Please?
- [Jacob] I love the wallpaper.
- [Christopher] You love the wallpaper?
It's pretty sporty.
This would be, who's room is this?
- [Bailey] My room!
- [Christopher] Your room?
- [Bailey] I love the curtains!
They're so pretty.
- [Christopher] And she's got a nice big closet now.
- Yeah my bookshelf.
- [Christopher] With a bookshelf, yeah.
This is the kids' restroom.
- This is my sink and this is Jacob's sink.
- [Christopher] Where's Parker's sink?
- And Parker's, they can share a sink.
- [Christopher] Where's Duncan's sink?
- He doesn't have a sink yet, he's too little.
- [Christopher] Jacob's taking a shower.
Apparently he sings like the Swedish Chef when he showers.
(mumbled singing)
And then this will be the boys' room.
What is this over here?
- [Bailey] This is Jacob's little closet.
And this is where he keeps all his Legos.
- Oh my goodness, this house is amazing.
It's so, so amazing.
I'm so excited.
Hey moving time guys!
What do you think Jakey?
- I can't wait.
- We tried some oranges.
We have an orange tree now.
- Yep.
- They were really good.
And Jacob took all his seeds and planted them
around the yard.
- Hi, let's talk about what we learned today.
We learned how to whittle
play dough.
We learned that there's nothing in the world
more scary than a squirrel growl.
And finally we learned that
Jacob turns into a Muppet every time he showers.
Thanks for watching everybody.
We'll see you next time.
(giggling)
(upbeat outro music)
