Dan: I'm Not So Grump
Both: And we're the Game Grumps!
Arin: Hey, welcome back to Game Grumps!
Dan: Hello,welcome back!
Arin: This is another edition of Dan Learns Overwatch
Dan: The shitshow, part two
Arin: Um so on this episode you - in the last episode you learned heals from Suzie
Dan: Okay Arin: On this episode, we're going to teach you defense
Dan: Sounds good Arin: Defense heroes
Dan: This looks like a class photo. I love it
Arin: It kinda is, a little bit Dan: Yeah
Arin: It's the one for the anniversary so
Dan: I'll never forget summer camp Arin: *laughs*
Dan: Where I murdered forty people
Arin: I hung out with a giant horse lady and sat on top of my Japanese mech
Dan: And whatever the fuck that is on the back left
Arin: That's uh - a gun
Dan: No, no - like the gas-masked thing holding the gun
Arin: Oh, that's the evil goldfish
Dan: Ohhh, yeah now I recognize that bastard Arin: *laughs*
Arin: Alright, so I'm going to have you play - uhh...
Arin: So there's four classes in this game, right? Dan: Right
Arin: There's healer or support, um.. defense, offense and tank
Dan: Okay Arin: Okay, and they all serve different roles
Arin: So I'm going to go ahead and teach you defense right now, so ahead and go to hero gallery
Dan: Okay
Arin: And right in the center, on the bottom there's Torbjorn
Dan: Torbjorn! Arin: The evil Santa Claus
Dan: Yes! I love him Arin: So you can spin him around if you want
Dan (old man voice): Mm, I've been mining for diamonds all day!
Dan: Sorry Arin: *laughs* So this is Torbjorn
Arin: So he is a very interesting character because his damage comes mostly from his turret
Arin: So you can build and maintain a turret that will automatically shoot at enemies
Dan: Okay Arin: And you can lay down shields for your teammates
Arin: So they can have a little bit more health *sighs*
Dan: Are you getting a emotional here? Arin: A little bit - I'm going to be choked up
Arin: Torbjorn really makes me feel so good Dan: Okay
Arin: The tattoo really speaks to me
Dan *fake crying*: What happened to his arm?
Arin: Alright, so just go ahead and hit back Dan: Uhhhhhhh.. back?
Arin: Yup Dan: Back as in.. oh, down there
Arin: And then back again Dan: Okay
Arin: And then go to training
Dan: *exhales* Arin: And then practice range
Arin: Let's do it Dan: Yeah
Arin: And I will show you how Torbjorn works
Arin: He's a good boy, uh.. he's dead center
Dan: Okay - ah yes Arin: Then continue
Arin: *weird nails-on-chalkboard sound*
Arin: So he has a normal gun so if you hit left click it's like a one-shot thing of like molten whatever-the-fuck
Dan: Sure Arin: And that's actually pretty strong
Arin: Um, if you get headshots it's pretty strong
Dan: Wow! Arin: Yeah
Arin: And then if you hit right click it's like a flak cannon where he shoots a bunch of them at once
Dan: Oh! Arin: Those don't do a lot of damage on their own
Arin: But as a group they do a ton so if you get really close to somebody
Arin: Like if you headshot those guys point-blank it'll probably kill them in one hit
Dan: Hi! *shoots robot* Yaayyy!
Dan: Hello! *shoots robot* Hurrah!
Arin: So he's pretty dang strong already, right? Dan: Yeah
Arin: Um, so if you hit left shift which was the fly button for Mercy -
Arin: You can put down a turret if you click again
*turret noises*
Arin: Alright, so that turret will attack any enemy nearby Dan: Holy shit
Arin: And it has its own health Dan: Will it hurt me?
Arin: No, it won't - it's your friend Dan: Neat!
Arin: Yeah, you can pet it Dan: Hello, friend!
Arin: But it has its own life that's right next to your life.
Arin: See the 150? Dan: Oh, yeah
Arin: So that's a level one turret. It's not very strong, it's super squishy and it won't fire very fast
Dan: Does it go after guys, like depending on their movements?
Arin, No it'll stay right there always and it'll rotate wherever the guys are
Arin: So if you switch your weapon like you were with Mercy - with the gun and the broom
Dan: Whoops Arin: With the wheel
Arin: So that's your hammer. If you beat on your turret like six or seven times
Dan: *hammers turret* Arin: There you go - it's five times
Arin: That's a level two turret now so it shoots faster Dan: Whoa!
Arin: And it has more health Dan: Holy crap!
Arin: Yeah, so if people start attacking your turret you can beat on it to give it more health
Dan: Neat! Arin: And you're the only person that can do that
Dan: If only that were the way the world really worked Arin: Yeah
Dan: Yeah, beat things with a hammer into making them more awesome Arin: *laughs*
Arin: My toaster doesn't work so beat it with a hammer Dan: Bring me the hammer
Arin: Um.. And then the other thing that Torb can do is -
Arin: If you hit E which is right under your index finger
Arin: You can throw shields out Dan: Shields?
Arin: So that'll give you 50 of the yellow health
Dan: Oh! Arin: Check that - I guess it's 75
Dan: I just throw it and collect it?
Arin: Yeah and your teammates can get those too
Dan: Oh, neat Arin: And you slowly get scrap which helps give you shields
Arin: Um.. and you can have up to 200 health and each one costs 50 to throw out
Arin: Then you get scrap from dead enemies
Arin: So he just dropped some scrap so you can grab that
Arin: And that'll give you more scrap to make more shields
Arin: You can just walk to it Dan: Oh. Stop! Just turn into scrap
Arin: Actually you have full scrap so you won't pick it up Dan: Oh, sweet
Arin: So you can just throw shields out like crazy - you can just hit E over and over again
Dan: *grunts while throwing scrap* Yay, shields for all!
Arin: And then your teammates can pick those up. I mean there aren't any teammates nearby
Arin: I mean you can give them to the training bots if you want Dan: Sure
Arin: But see, you slowly build up scrap and as the enemies die you can grab their scrap
Dan: Oh cool Arin: It's just those little chevrons that are pointing
Arin: It's like "check out this scrap, go grab it"
Dan: Got it. Ummm.. and the ultimate?
Arin: Ok, so put down your turret here since there are a lot of enemies
Dan: That was.... that was.... Arin: Left shift
Dan: Left shift, got it (Torbjorn: I foresee great things for you!)
Arin: And then beat on it so it's super powerful Dan: Right.. *fumbles with weapon switch*
Arin: There you go - give it a little beattie-beat Dan: Don't mind me, this is for your own good
Arin: There you go, so now it's level two, right? So if you use your ultimate
Arin: Go ahead and hit Q
(Torb: mol-TEN CORREEE)
Arin: So now it's level 3 and it fires really fast and has a ton of health Dan: Holy shit
Arin: And now your weapon is super strong and you have a ton of health too
Dan: Nice Arin: Yeah so it shoots fast, it does more damage
Arin: So it's pretty sweet but it only lasts for like 9 seconds Dan: Wow
Dan: Oh, ok. Still cool Arin: Yeah
Arin: So that's a good way to like - stay alive, or clear out an area, or -
Arin: Or zone people Dan: Always be doing shit
Arin: Yeah, get people off the point or whatever
Arin: Dealing with that turret sucks because it's always going to hit you
Arin: It doesn't miss Dan: Wow, fantastic then! Okay!
Arin: So Torb's pretty awesome Dan: I feel ready!
Arin: So go ahead and hit escape and leave game Dan: Uh - uh - oop
Dan: God damn. This game, no wonder people love it
Arin: It's the bomb, dude Dan: I imagine once you actually get good at it
Dan: It's super fun Arin: Oh yeah - I mean dude - we've been playing for an entire year so
Arin: *laughs* Dan: Has it been that long?
Arin: Yeah, man - that's why - the anniversary, man
Dan: Oh, wow Arin: It's been out for one year
Arin: And it's still going strong Dan: And this game came out of nowhere, right?
Dan: There was no - like predecessor or anything like that?
Arin: Well.. people say that Team Fortress 2 was kind of the predecessor - TF2
Dan: But like when Overwatch was released I remember it being a big deal
Dan: People just knew - off the bat that it was going to be great
Arin: Yeah well.. it's Blizzard.. um.. Blizzard games are usually always really good
Arin: And basically the concept of it was like a streamlined TF2
Arin: Because there are classes and each hero has different abilities and stuff
Arin: So it's like - typically FPSs are usually like - you're all the same and you can pick your guns or whatever
Arin: And you can, you know - pick up guns, but not with this
Arin: With this, every hero is different and that's how they are, that's how they always are
Arin: And nothing changes.. so Dan: Right
Arin: People get attached to characters - it's just cool, and everyone serves a purpose
Arin: So.. Dan: That really is cool
Arin: So this a skirmish - this isn't a real game, but you can still run around and shoot people
Arin: You know, just so you have something to do while you're waiting for a match
Dan: Oh, nice! Arin: So just load up Torbjorn and try to get some kills
Dan: So it's just kill anybody? Arin: Yeah
Arin: Well - kill your enemies Dan: Great!
Arin: So your teammates are still your teammates and they're probably just dicking around
Arin: But just go ahead and walk out and walk around - this is Hollywood
Dan: Oh, this is lovely Arin: So you might notice some landmarks
Arin: Like the Bably- oh there's an enemy Dan: Oh, hey
Arin: Well, she kills you immediately Dan: I remember her
Arin: *laughs* Oh, Shadow wants to talk to you! Dan: *laughs* My god
Arin: That's nice Dan: That's quite the kill-cam
Arin: Wow - he uh - just melted you
Dan: Neat! Arin: Yeah.. uh.. -
Arin: So go out there - oh yeah, they're dicking around, having fun
Dan: Aww Arin: Ah, ah - Widowmaker's trying to kill you
Dan: Oh, oh, so much fun *yells* SPOON! Arin: *laughs*
*both laugh* Arin: She got you right in the face
Arin: So that's the thing about Torb - if he seems really powerful, that's because he's a huge target
Arin: He's a short, fat man - just a big round ball of hitbox
Dan: Did I kill somebody? Arin: Um.. no
Arin: Well, actually, yes Dan: I eliminated somebody
Arin: You contributed to their death Dan: Good!
Arin: So that's great, congratulations Dan: That is great
Dan: Wheels are weird in this world Arin: So go ahead and put down a -
Arin: Oh yeah, it's all the future Dan: Neat
Arin: Put down a turret and see - Dan: Right here?
Arin: Yeah, wherever you want Dan: Okay
Dan *imitating robot*: Boop.. Boop Arin: You're Torb, you can choose, you know
Arin: You've got the experience, the training Dan *muppet voice*: Hahahaha!
Arin: There you go Dan: Okay, cool - And now we play.. the waiting game
Arin: *laughs* Somebody will show up Dan: Yeah, think so?
Arin: Yeah, they'll come by - Tracer was dicking around near you
Arin: I mean - you can go towards their base Dan *sing-song*: I'm hee-re
Dan: Where's their base - is there radar? Arin: Uhh...
Arin: You can see your teammates but not the enemies Dan: I see
Arin: So the teammates are the blue chevrons Dan: Look at that
Arin: Look at what? Dan *to turret*: You stay here and guard this car
Dan: Look at that fucking sweet elevator Arin: Yeah dude
Arin: this is the - you got to get up to the water tower somehow
Arin: Gotta get that sweet hydration Dan: Will that just lower and raise?
Arin: Actually, that's a pretty sneaky spot to put your turret
Dan: Ohhh.. Arin: On the elevator cause it'll constantly keep moving
Arin: All right so this is a real game Dan: Ok, cool
Arin: This is a payload map so it's not like the king of the hill map but it's a little like the the payload map
Arin: Or the king of the hill map Dan: It's a lot like the payload map - it is the payload map
Arin: So once at least one person from your team is on the payload it'll start moving
Arin: And you want to get to the payload all the way to the end
Arin: If somebody from the opponent's team is on the payload it will stop
Arin: So you want to kill or move those people off the payload so you can keep moving it
Arin: That's the only objective right Dan: Right
Arin: Killing is ancillary but obviously it helps you to get people off of the payload
Dan: I'm gonna need you to say it one more time for me
Arin: okay so you're on defense actually so you're not pushing the payload
Arin: You're keeping the payload from being pushed Dan: Okay
Arin: So there's there's going to be a car or like a floaty vehicle or whatever
Dan: Right Arin: That if the enemy team gets on -
Arin: They're going to move it along this like - roughly like where this blue line is
Dan: okay Arin: it's actually this like dotted line with the lights
Arin: Um - so they're going to move that payload - they're going to try to get it all the way to the end of the map
Dan: So this blue line is a good place to put the turret, yeah?
Arin: Um.. yeh, if you, um - it's up to you! You can put it wherever you want
Dan: Okay
Arin: But the enemies are going to come out of the left of where you are
Arin: So you're kind of like on the side, so take a right - yeah
Arin: So that big door right there Dan: Right
Arin: On the right - that big door - that's where they're going to come out of
Dan: Oh Arin: Roughly - there's a couple doors they can come out
Arin: But that's the main one Dan: I'm gonna go and put it right there
Arin: There you go - um Dan *hammer sounds*: Bip - bap - bip - bop - bap
Arin: So if you are standing on that point - on that payload - this little floaty guy
Arin: It won't move but if they kill you and nobody else - none of your teammates are on it it will move -
Arin: If they're on it Dan: Got it
Arin: Super simple Dan: Okay, I died and my turret blew up
Arin: Cool Dan: So - so far so good
Arin: Yes you're - I mean you're doing great Dan: *laughs*
Arin: At least you did some damage
Dan: Yeah - yeah, things happened Arin: So go run back to the right
Dan: Okay - oh I see defend - yeah
Arin: Yeah you want to run towards all that action in the distance - you can see the outline of the payload
Dan: But I should always be making - uh.. did I blow that?
Dan: No - I'll follow you - you know what you're doing Arin: He knows what he's doing
Arin: Um.. that green - that green sphere - yeah, you can go that way
Arin: That green circle around him means that he's speed boosting
Dan: Ah Arin: You'd go faster if you hang out with him
Dan: I was gonna say - he was fast Arin: And now the yellow one means that he'll heal near you
Dan: *groans with the pain of death and defeat* Arin: That's you dying
Dan: Yeah, I made a turret Both: *laugh*
Arin: So yeah, actually you can see the path the payload is going to go right along that line
Arin: So before the payload gets there - you want to go to the other door
Dan: *grunts* Arin: Before that..
Dan: Which door? This one? Arin: This- the one you were facing immediately towards
Arin: The payload is eventually probably going to get there unless you guys are amazing
Arin: So if you put your turret like before the payload gets there
Arin: That's a good - like safe space Dan *getting shot*: Ah ah ah ow ah!
Dan: Damn it, Lollipop30! Arin: *laughs*
Dan: Son of a bitch Arin: So that's you dying again
Dan: Yeah, I'm getting that. Hi! Arin: *laughs*
Arin: But see you have tons of shields now so you can throw one down for you
Arin: With E - there you go. So now you're a little bit more strong
Arin: So that one you'll leave there for teammates that come out again
Arin: Um.. and then once you get to where teammates are - those little blue chevrons
Arin: You can give them shields too (Announcer: The payload has reached the first checkpoint)
Arin: So the payload reached the first checkpoint - that means your spawn will change
Dan: That's not good Arin: And their spawn will change
Arin: So a turret right here is great - it's actually a really good idea to have a turret here
Dan *imitating robot*: Boopity boop Arin: And hammer it right away
Dan: Yeah - uh -uh Arin: Before they see it and want to kill it
Arin: Nice. Excellent. Dan: Ok, cool.
Arin: So somebody's immediately trying to kill it which is pretty typical
Arin: Yeah - look at that, you got two kills! Look at you! Dan: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah!
Arin: Oh you could throw down some shields again Dan: O-kay
Arin: Now you got another kill with your turret - nice work. Wow, you're doing great
Dan: Yeah! This is - yeah, fuck you lollipop
Arin: Dude, look at all those kills! So now you have your ult - your turret's about to die
Arin: So maybe you should hammer it Dan: Oh, I can do that?
Arin: Yeah to heal it - there you go. There you go.. Dan: *grunts with hammer swings
Arin: So now when there's - when there's a ton of people coming - right
Dan: Yup Arin: Yeah - hit the Q! Hit it right now
Arin: There you go! Dan: Yeah!
Arin! Now beat on it! Beat on it! Both: Awww...
Dan: Six player killstreak?! Oh my god! That's so many! Arin: You killed six people! Yeah, dude!
Dan: I feel really good about my life right now Arin: You don't even have to aim, dude
Dan: That's great. This is my kind of character Arin: There you go
Arin: Just just dealing damage without doing any work Dan: Yeah, fuckin' the way things should be
Arin: It's Torbjorn Dan: That's so Torbjorn!
Arin: *laughs* Angry Santa!
Arin: So with that effort that you just made - you all pretty much almost wiped their entire team
Arin: And now there's no movement so.. you're great! So.. -
Dan: So this is a good spot, right?
Arin: Uhh.. Yeeah? Just try it out. Try it out, give it a shot
Dan: Uuh-uh well I shot it - I shot it Arin: There you go, there you go
Arin: Look at you Dan: This feels great
Arin: See, it's already shooting at people and you killed Skadbob Dan: Yes!
Arin: You almost did 50% of the damage to him that killed him
Dan: Dude, I'm so tired of Skadbob and his bullshit Arin: *laughs*
Dan: I hope you're watching, Skadbob. Arin: Skadbob knows what's up, dude
Arin: Well apparently not if he's getting killed by turrets Dan: Oh shit, is that a weak move?
Arin: No, no it's not Dan: Yeah lollipop!
Arin: Lollipop got killed - he was ulting too dude - you saved the team!
Dan: Outstanding. I'm just gonna keep beating on this Arin: There you go
Arin: But be careful because you can die too Dan: Right
Arin: So there's health right there Dan: Oh, neat
Arin: That's pretty nice. Oh - that Genji's going after your turret
Arin: They're pushing still... okay the turret - the payload is to your left
Dan: Jeepers. *gets shot at* ow ow ow ow ow Arin: Nobody was blocking the payload which is..
Arin: Actually the important thing about it. You can kill people but if somebody's pushing then it doesn't matter
Arin: So now that Soldier is protecting the payload right now
Dan: Oh, I see Arin: And that Reinhardt with the shield
Dan: Dude I shot a guy Arin: Nice well you actually did - you did
Arin: I think you got a headshot too Dan: I'm shooting people! It's all happening
Arin: So your turret's dead so maybe put down another Dan: okay great
Arin: Maybe go find a healer or some health?
Arin: Put down a shield maybe for you Dan: Okay
Dan: Hey! Arin: Yeah, you're probably going to die right now
Arin: *laughs* Dan *disappointed*: Chickpea..
Arin: But you're doing great, Dan. I'm really impressed
Dan: You know what, thank you Arin. Arin: You're getting kills left and right
Dan: Take me back to my quaint days Arin: Really helping out your team
Arin: But again, the most important thing is to block the payload because..
Arin: Because no matter how many kills or no kills you get - if the payload reaches the end you lose
Dan: Got it. So this is probably a pretty good spot, right?
Arin: Yeah, but not with a Reinhard shooting shit at you
Dan: Ok, well, noted for the picture Arin: The guy with the hammer - he is a tank so he has a ton
Arin: So he has a ton of health and he does pretty decent damage
Arin: But the whole point of him is to stay alive so he can push the payload
Dan: Boy, it's pretty close, huh? Yeah, we're not going to win this
Arin: Yeah.. I think it's - there.
Arin: Well that's a loss Both: *laugh uncontrollably*
Arin: But you know it's you win some, you lose some. Yeah that's just how it goes
Dan: Lollipop's pretty cute actually. Um.. good job. Good job for them.
Dan: They look.. now that I see them all lined up and friendly they seem like a nice group
Arin: Yeah, you know they're just trying to do their jobs Dan: Yeah
Arin: They're just trying to push that payload to the end and protect it from you guys
Arin: Um.. which - actually you're the bad guys because you don't want them to do their jobs
Dan: Oh, shit. Do I get to.. Arin: Look, you got a card!
Dan: Yayyy! Arin: Oh look at you!
Arin: You - you've got 26 percent kill participation in all the kills in the game
Dan: That makes me feel terrific. Arin: Look at that!
Dan: Is there a way to talk to people on this? Arin: Sure, but.. um..
Dan: Press enter to chat?
Arin: Yeah you could - you could press enter. And that's to your team
Dan: I just want to say: it.. was.. a.. pleasure..
Arin: Oh, you left. Dan: Damn it.
Arin: This is a highlight - this will show you a good moment of your game
Arin: See, this is a play of the game that you could have gotten if somebody wasn't better
Both: *laugh* Dan: If someone hadn't made more plays of the game
Arin: Look at you, look at you killing people with your turret, man!
Arin: And you were shooting at your teammates - that's cool
Both: *laugh uproariously*
Dan: Overwatch! I'm digging it.
Dan: Alright, next time on Game Grumps
Arin: Next time on Game grumps, I'm going to teach Dan how to tank
Dan: Jesus christmas (?) Arin: And it's going to be a good time
Dan: See you soon! Arin: Bye
