The Titans and Teen Titans travel back in time to stop him.
Do they have what it takes to stop the fastest killer alive?
Will they be ready to make the sacrifice?
Find out in this epic conclusion to the Lazarus Contract.
First you need to know what happened previously in the Lazarus Contract.
Deathstroke kidnapped both Wally West’s to syphon off their speed.
Deathstroke tells them that he just wants to go back in time to save his son.
He is willing to quit being Deathstroke for it.
Flash declines, but he connects with Kid Flash and completely took Kid Flash’s speed.
Robin finds out that Nightwing knows what’s going on.
Deathstroke took on a contract to kill the Teen Titans back when they first reformed.
He made a deal with Robin that if Robin could keep his daughter a good person Deathstroke
wouldn’t kill them.
Robin has failed and its Deathstroke terrible family situation that made him decide he wants
to fix things.
First by saving his oldest son.
To which he has successfully gone back to before his death.
This comic starts off in the past giving us a flash back to how Grant became Ravenger.
You can also click the card in the top right corner for more detail.
Grant is being recruited by H.I.V.E. so that he can become his fullest potential and be
a force for good.
Little does he know they are using him to get to his father.
Which he doesn’t know is secretly Deathstroke.
He idolizes Deathstroke but hates his father.
Grant is injected with a serum that will make him better than Deathstroke so he may be H.I.V.E.’s
warrior.
On his way to his first mission against the Teen Titans; he runs into Deathstroke.
After hugging his idol and completely fan boying out.
Deathstroke unmasks himself; filling Grant with rage.
Deathstroke doesn’t have much patients trying to convince Grant to stop.
He just knocks him out and preps to try again for the 4th time.
This time he’ll go back further.
In the present time the Teen Titans and Titans head to the place Grant died.
Robin insisted on leaving the powerless Kid Flash behind.
But he’s not the only one that got left out.
Jackson Hyde was forgotten.
Which is understandable as he is a new member and was out scouting at the time.
Once the team makes it to the site where they believe Deathstorke went to.
They proceed to go back to when he is to confront him.
Somehow Starfire and Raven are able to create a time vortex for the team to follow Wally
West in.
As soon as they establish the rule of not interacting with past selves to prevent from
disrupting the timeline; the whole team runs into the original team.
The younger team is here because they were looking for Ravanger.
Somehow he just vanaished.
So Robin comes up with a plan to get Deathstroke to come to them and instead of telling anyone.
He hits past Wally West to stop his heart.
Since they are in the timestream the effects are immediate so current Wally West faded
away.
The change Deathstroke was making also faded.
So, he went after the Titans just as Damian planned.
Young Robin is able to get Young Kid Flash’s heart beating again and that reset everything.
Current Kid Flash gets his speed back, But Deathstroke come to them.
And he is angry but he ignores them instead he tries to save his son one more time.
This time he runs faster.
He tries running fast enough to go back further in time.
His other son Jericho trails behind him begging him to stop but Deathstroke goes so fast that
he gets sucked into the speedforce.
Now that Deathstroke is trapped in the speedforce everyone celebrates the victory.
Until Kid Flash arrives.
And he is disgusted that they would celebrate a man being killed.
And he decides to go in after him.
Wally West knows Kid Flash won’t know how to get out of there so he rushes in after
him.
But Nighwing says they are a team and will go with him.
So Raven connects them psychically and then Jericho puts his consciousness in Wally so
that everyone is with him.
And he goes in to pull them out.
Deathstroke doesn’t have super speed anymore but he is still very skilled.
So they prepare for a fight.
And Deathstroke says they deserve death for taking his son away from him again.
But he is broke so he just decides to call it quits.
He drops his mask and walks away.
Back at the Teen Titans Tower Robin reprimands Kid Flash for his poor decisions but the unapologetic
Kid Flash doesn’t back down for going after Deathstroke.
Then once again without consulting his team Robin makes a big decision and fires Kid Flash
from the team.
The Titans on the other hand went to a doctor to check on Wally.
And the doctor says he is lucky his pacemaker didn’t give out but he needs to quit excreting
himself or else it will.
This comes as a shock to his team.
When they went back in time and Damian stopped his heart.
He ended up needing a pacemaker.
This is why all speedsters know you don’t time travel.
There are always going to be consequences.
So Wally leaves there and he does what every speedster does when they are feeling down
or their mind is full.
He runs!!!
What will Slade Wilson do now that Deathstroke is no more?
What will the Teen Titans do about Robins leadership decisions?
Could we be losing the original Wally West again?
These are the questions I have for the next issues.
Which will be continued in Deathstroke 20, Titans #12, and Teen Titans #9.
Wow!!!
This story was amazing.
And I know there have been some good crossover stories coming out of Rebirth.
So I’m surprised DC is doing good work consistently between Superman Reborn, to the Button, now
the Lazarus Contract.
Which to me is probably the one that was handled the best.
I say that because I like its ending better.
The Button didn’t have an impactful ending to me.
Correction.
The impact of that ending won’t be felt until November when Doomsday Clock comes out.
Which I’m sure will be great.
But the Lazarus Contract.
You’re going to feel the consequences from this immediately in the next issue of their
comics.
That’s why I like it so much.
Keep up the good work DC.
Prior to Rebirth I was not a fan of Damian Wayne.
But each story makes me more of a fan yet like him a little less.
And this story makes me want to read Teen Titans to see what his team is going to do
about him.
Not just his team.
What is Nightwing going to do?
Damian cost Wally West his ability to be a superhero and played a great deal in his health.
Nightwing warned Damian about being a team player and he ended up making Wally need a
pacemaker, then he didn’t join the team in the speedforce, and now he fired Kid Flash.
Damian is trouble.
I wonder how are his adventures with Jon going?
They should be doing an else worlds story about Damian taking over the world instead
of Dick Grayson.
I like the way they handled the consequences of time travel.
I thought we were going to get a new Flashpoint like universe because Deathstroke saved his
son.
That would be cool.
Slade Wilson and his whole family out against the world?
I don’t know who would be able to stand against them.
But this is a good way to handle it since I knew they weren’t going to go that route.
Let me know what you thought of this issue.
Did you like it?
What did you expect from it?
