This week we’re going to be taking a look at the brand new Covergirl “Vitalist Elixir
Foundation”. This is their foundation that just launched! I have mine in the shade 605
which I believe is the lightest shade it comes in. If you are in the States and you’re
looking at this foundation it is called something different it is called the “Healthy Elixir
Foundation” I believe? Whereas here it’s “Vitalist”. It’s got Healthy in the
name somewhere, and I think the rules in Canada and in the US are different for when something
can be labeled “healthy” or it can’t be. And so in Canada it’s not allowed to
be called “healthy” whereas in the States in can! At least that’s my understanding
of it! I find that a little bit sketchy, what is in it that Canada doesn’t think is healthy
but America does? I don’t know, I don’t know.
I picked this up for about 13-dollars from Shoppers Drug Mart, and Shoppers does tend
to be a little bit more expensive so it’s really not that big of a….hugely expensive
foundation. Really quickly here it doesn’t say a lot
about the foundation on the website. WOW. Those shades look all the same.
Look at those! None of those look different! So mine is “Ivory
605” but I feel like I could have got “Classic Ivory” or “Creamy Natural” and had the
same…okay. Whatever. *sigh*
“Vitalist Elixir Foundation. Discover healthy looking skin bottled! New Vitalist Elixir
Foundation is infused with skincare ingredients and SPF20 for correction, protection, and
perfection all in one. This full-coverage foundation makes skin glow with a healthy
look, from the inside out.” So that’s a very important fact that I want
to mention right here, I’ve watched a lot of reviews on this foundation before I bought
it and a lot of people try to build it up. This foundation never claimed to be buildable!
It claims to be full coverage, but not buildable. So I guess that means it’s supposed to be
full coverage on the first go, and I don’t agree with that I think it’s probably medium
coverage, like maybe high-medium but it definitely didn’t cover most of my zits when I was
wearing it so just keep that in mind. Not really buildable, but it wasn’t supposed
to be. But not really full coverage and it was supposed to be that.
To me this foundation is supposed to be the drugstore answer to the Bourjois Healthy Mix
Serum Foundation, that’s kind of what I expected going into it and that’s kind of
what I got. It smells like fruits the same way that the Bourjois does, and it kind of
has that same sort of feel on the skin. It goes on very nicely I put it on with a Beauty
Blender, but it all over the face. It does perfect the general look of your skin and
look really natural, but unfortunately I can’t give this foundation a glowing review, and
I think that it’s just largely because I don’t like Covergirl foundations.
I try so hard, I’ve tried so many Covergirl foundations, you’ve never seen like any
of them on my channel I don’t think I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed a Covergirl foundation.
I don’t think so? No actually! But I’ve tried a lot. And my issue with Covergirl foundations
is they A: typically dry kind of dry on my face, like the longer I wear it the more dry
and patchy it looks. You can’t really see that so much in the demo and in the wear test
I did for you here but just trust me, it does. And then the other big issue I have is that
it REALLY oxidizes. Sometimes by the end of the day when I am wearing this foundation,
my face is a completely different colour than the rest of my body. Even if I’ve powdered,
even if I’ve used a setting spray, it is an INTENSE oxidization. And I’ve had that
with every Covergirl foundation I’ve ever tried, so it’s not just this one. And that
alone, the oxidizing thing, is enough to make me not want to wear a foundation. In theory,
I love this foundation I love that it’s good for your skin I love that it comes with
a pump, I love that the pump even locks, so if you click it this way it won’t pump.
So safe for travel! Terrible colour selection, but it does generally look nice on your skin
especially immediately after application but…*sigh* I mean I’m already so short, that I really
can’t rock the Oompa Loompa look…I just can’t do it.
Covergirl, whatever it is that you put in your foundations that make them go super orange
on my skin and a lot of people’s skin, ‘cause I’ve heard that thought from a lot of people,
just take that out. Or put something else there. And then I would….if it wasn’t
that, if it didn’t go bright orange on my face, I’m sure I would love this foundation.
Because like I said it is like the drugstore answer to the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation,
and I really liked that foundation it’s just a little too expensive for me to buy
over and over again. So this would be perfect if it didn’t make me orange and if it didn’t
dry too dry for my skin. Anyway please let me know what you thought
of this video in the comments below. If you’ve tried this foundation, what did you think?
I would love to hear your thoughts on that as well.
Thank you so much for watching and I will see you next time! BYE!!!
