How to Turn Around A Bad Day

- When the going gets tough,
the tough get crabs.
(playful majestic music)
- Good morning everyone.
Today is the day.
We have to get Duncan's passport finalized.
We've tried two times to make this happen
and both times we failed miserably.
Today we have a babysitter,
we've got Duncan, we've got our passports
ready to go, so we're gonna go over there
and we're gonna make it happen.
Today is the day.
Because we really want to go to Europe this year.
(jazzy upbeat music)
This is not what it says online.
This is attempt number three
at getting this child a passport,
attempt number three.
(sighs)
So, is our kid not gonna go to Europe?
Is that's what's happening?
Are we canceling this trip?
Do we have enough time to get a passport?
- Yeah.
- We do.
- Yeah, but we can't go today.
I just looked up offices,
like even like an hour and a half from here,
like in several counties over,
and they're also closed.
But they actually said that they're closed.
- But they said it online.
- Yeah look I see people,
this is the second group of people I've seen
go up and try to get into the passport office.
Everybody's (laughs)
There's no communication.
- If we had more time in our day,
I would just sit here and watch people go up there.
I bet there's a guy in there.
I bet his job is to sit there
and laugh at the people that are jiggling the door
trying to get in.
- Yeah, there are a lot of people trying to get in.
- Nobody can get into the passport office
because it says online that it's open
and it's not open.
- And this is seriously, the only one for miles.
And a bunch of people keep going like,
I've seen comments being like, well try the post office.
This actually is the post office.
- This is the post office.
- It's the post office, passport office.
- It's all we have available to us.
- And I've seen people suggesting all kinds
of different things,
and really, seriously, for some reason
in our area, this is the only option.
And it's clearly terrible,
because the lines are so bad
and there's another person,
going up, trying to get in.
It's very odd to me, but it is what it is,
so, like we're not even upset,
we're just like, I mean
- I'm a little upset.
I set this up, I hired a babysitter,
I set up our time to come here,
we traveled all the way out here for the third time,
and the information that I was given online
is not correct.
Yeah, I'm a little upset.
That's a little upsetting.
- Well I was just saying it's also very comical.
- Yes.
- It's just so ridiculous
that we keep going like, we're going to the passport office,
and it's not even like, is this going
It's just that we can't figure out if we're gonna
actually be able to get the services rendered.
Like the fact that we have no idea if the passport office
will actually function, is very funny.
And I looked up, that's what I was doing just now,
looking up several counties over
and that can't happen today.
(sighs)
- Well, at the very least we can go out to lunch.
(jazzy lively music)
So apparently nobody works on Mondays any more,
because also closed.
We were so excited to eat
and look,
where does it say it,
Monday closed.
This one we did not check online.
I was so excited about this food,
and now I'm not even eating the food.
("Funeral March" by Chopin)
So I'm not really sure what we're gonna do,
but we'll try and find some food somewhere.
(ethereal music)
I'm excited because I get Thai food,
Jessica's excited because she gets crab,
and we're both excited because the baby is asleep.
(groovy dance music)
- Things are much better.
- Give Jessica a homemade crab hat and she is happy.
- I was thinking when the going gets tough,
the tough get crabs.
(jazzy lively music)
- Jessica examines the food,
tries to decide the best technique.
Ah, you squirted me in the eye.
She just got me in the eye with lemon juice.
- [Jessica] For real?
- Yeah.
- [Jessica] I thought you were acting like a lobster.
- No, you got me in the eye.
- Sorry I didn't care when it happened then,
I was like,
he's being a lobster, what?
I thought he was pretending you were being sliced,
I'm sorry.
- [Christopher] No, I was just in pain over here.
- [Jessica] Sorry, sorry about your eye.
(upbeat jazzy music)
- I finished my food, it was delicious.
Jessica, how was your food?
(laughing)
This is the best crab I've ever had.
The other best was near Williamsburg Virginia.
- That's a long way.
This is a lot closer to home.
- I've waited a long time for this amazingness again,
for it being this great.
It's so great.
- Another good thing is the baby is still asleep.
(lullabye music)
What is this called?
- Rotee, I think she said?
Like rotee, all I know it had tee at the end so.
- All I heard was Nutella.
(laughs)
So here's something cool.
If things worked out the way they were supposed to today,
we wouldn't have ended up here,
looking for food, and we wouldn't have found that place.
- Yeah, that's my new favorite.
That's our new anniversary location, mister man.
- We've got a new anniversary location.
It's been awhile since we've gone out
like on a real fancy date.
So it felt justified and it was a good time,
so yeah, we'll get the passport later.
We are back home.
We've actually been back home for a little while,
and we were just about to play a little bit
of D and D, Dungeons and Dragons,
'cause Grace and Kevin came over.
And it's not even a Friday,
so the day just keeps getting better, right Duncan?

- [Jessica] I'm so ashamed, I'm so ashamed, nerd parents.
- I'm so ashamed of my nerd parents.
Look at the judgment, just look at it.
We didn't get the passport today,
but we did get some travel plans put into place.
- I bought some plane tickets today.
We are going to Utah.
We are going to CVX Live,
which is a Youtuber convention.
I think it's family channel focused,
but I don't think it's just family channels.
I don't really know what it is,
I've never been, but I'm really excited,
because everybody says that it's amazing,
and if you're anywhere in Utah,
you should buy tickets and come meet us.
You can meet us,
there's like meet and greets, and all kinds of fun.
So I'm super super looking forward to that.
And it'll be Duncan's first plane trip,
so come see us.
