in his own competition, as he boasted Sunday morning that he had attracted more supporters
than protesters to his New Jersey golf club.
'Thank you to all of the supporters, who far out-numbered the protesters, yesterday at
the Women's U.S. Open. Very cool!' Trump wrote.
Trump hasn't been seen in Washington since Wednesday, visiting Paris for two days, and
then heading directly to the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, the site
of the U.S. Women's Open.
He was joined by the First Lady, his wife Melania, at the tournament on Sunday but she
looked rather reluctant to be there.
First daughter Ivanka Trump was also seen Sunday popping into see her father at the
president's viewing enclosure along with First Son Eric Trump and his pregnant wife Lara
as they watched South Korean golfer Sung Hyun Park win the U.S. Women's Open Golf tournament.
Ivanka took to Instagram to congratulate Park on her win saying she was 'inspired by her
talent and tenacity'.
The president also congratulated Park on her win on Twitter and then tweeted that he was
heading back to Washington DC on Sunday evening. He said: 'Much will be accomplished this week
on trade, the military and security!'
Donald Trump Jr, the president's eldest son and the most controversial member of the Trump
clan right now, thanks to his secretive meeting with several Russians during the presidential
campaign last June was seemingly not around.
Trump still weekending at his Bedminster course viewed much of the competition from a fishbowl-like
glass enclosure situated on the course's 15th hole, watching the golf on televisions instead
of the action in front of his face.
The president arrived at the viewing area a little past 3pm wearing his red 'Make America
Great Again' hat.
His National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster was also on hand.
Around 5pm, first lady Melania Trump, sporting a white dress and heels, showed up.
Although there was a great deal of support for the president, there was also a number
of protesters at the course.
Earlier Sunday, the pool reporter couldn't comment on the size of the protests because
the press entered from a different point than where the protesters had staked out.
'Your pooler has not witnessed the protests because they are taking place away from the
entrance through which the press vans entered,' explained Andrew Restuccia of Politico.
The women's group UltraViolet protested the event on Sunday, as members shamed the United
States Golf Association for hosting its largest women's event at a course owned by the president,
who has made lewd comments about women in the past.
He's also been accused of sexual harassment.
Four protesters from the group, wearing 'USGA: Dump Sexist Trump' t-shirts, stood just outside
the president's viewing area when the commander-in-chief arrived.
They weren't immediately removed by security.
The protesters did annoy some of the golf competition's attendees, with one woman yelling,
'Look at what they look like!' according to the White House pool report.
Eventually, the foursome of protesters walked away and were spotted by pool reporters buying
ice cream at a nearby concession stand.
There had also been protesters there on Saturday.
One woman stomped by and uttered in front of reporters that she wanted to give Trump
the middle finger.
She had come to the competition to support women's golf.
A similar back-and-forth was happening outside, with both protesters and Trump supporters
gathered outside the club's gates.
The Associated Press reported seeing signs like 'America Lost Putin Won' being held up
by protesters, while supporters were decked out in their 'Make America Great Again' gear.
