Hello Internet! And welcome to behind the meme!!! Today we have a look at that damn
dancing hot dog!

video on this here topic! This one has been everywhere lately so I knew that a video just
had to be made! You guys wanted it now you have it! Here we go!!
Many People have been known to spend their free time doing various things. Some people
like to spend time focusing on their hobbies and passions. Like reading a book while relaxing
after a long day of work, Or painting a painting of a beautiful thing so you can forever capture
it’s essence, Or maybe even writing a whole album of songs dedicated to your love of cheetos,
lauren southern and rocket league…or is that just me? You know productive things like
that. But in 2017 those people are few and far in-between. Nowadays Most of the time
the majority of people spend their time online and usually on social media. Back in my day
social media consisted of basically one single website. A place called myspace, where tom
was the most popular guy around.Then Facebook came along and well….you know the rest of
the story.
But today social media applies to a variety of websites and applications. Things like
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and even Youtube. It seems that more and more social media services
keep popping up each and every single year. These services provide us the ability to speak
to each other without ever actually having to speak to each other. Which is kind of weird
but hey, Conversations are so 1990’s.
One of the popular applications that people often use is snapchat.
Now if you’re anything like me you only know about snapchat because of the filters
that are within it. You know, that damn puppy filter and flower head thing that every girl
thinks they are soo original for using. We get it, it’s cute. You’re hot, but cmon,
we’ve seen it a billion times.
Snapchat actually has a handful of these types of filters that aren’t flowers and dogs.
But most recently one of them has become pretty damn popular and has been nearly everywhere
on the internet, but more on that in just a bit…
Lets change the topic to hot dogs! Everybody’s favorite peni shaped food that nobody knows
just exactly what it’s made of…and if you do, you wish you never knew. But who cares
because they taste good! It’s the American way!
So what exactly do hotdogs and snapchat have in common? Well,you more than likely already
know because after all you did click on this video so… let me just show you.
This cute little dancing hot dog is a filter within snapchat. Now don’t ask me why a
dancing hot dog is a thing…but, it is and people seem to love it some people do hate
it but mostly they love it. You see the dancing hotdog is what is considered augmented reality.
Meaning that when you point the camera of your device in the real world the little dik
appears as if he’s really there. And if we learned anything from all the pokemon
go hype it’s that people tend to like augmented reality and cute little characters.
The dancing hot dog filter has really started to gain momentum and popularity throughout
early July of 2017 although it’s been a part of snapchat since prior to July. The
filter’s popularity really started to take off on the July 4th with a tweet that showed
the little guy being swept away mid dance by a shopping cart in a grocery store. Which
resulted in a humorous clip that was uploaded to Twitter by @brittany_melone and received
over 120,000 likes and 76,000 retweets.
And since becoming popular the hot dog has spread well beyond snapchat and appeared in
videos posted to Facebook, Instagram and Youtube becoming an internet trend in the process!
And due to the silly nature and mass popularity of the hot dog, it has been incorporated within
various memes and photo edits that humorously use the little guy within various ways that
often completely reshape the innocent and simple image that the hot dog was originally
intended to be.
you guys, I am faced with a difficult question after making this video. If I was starving
and all I had to eat was a hot dog but it was this little cute dancing guy, would I
still be able to eat it? I mean look at his face. He is so sweet and innocent, All he
wants to do is dance and listen to his music. So I have to admit, although I may be starving…the
answer is YES. I would still eat him. I D G A F.
So there you have it!! What started off as a food item thats contents are often questioned
eventually turned into a filter on social media that became a popular trend!!
