These days, you can't open a magazine or turn on the TV
without seeing constant reminders of Watergategate.
It's the original recipe of gates.
But the thrilling discovery that Nixon's presidency
was cut short after a mere 67 months in office
may be making liberals a bit too giddy.
NARRATOR: The one good result of the Donald Trump presidency
is people are engaged in their democracy
like we haven't seen for decades.
What are we doing today?
We are here for a rally for the impeachment of Trump.
NARRATOR: Ah, yes, we went to a march
in Los Angeles for that grand American tradition,
to find out how impeachment would go down.
I know that it has to be initiated in Congress
and they have to have grounds.
And then once they have something like a trial,
where evidence is presented.
NARRATOR: She's right.
First, this guy would have to OK impeachment
proceedings against this guy.
Then 24 of these guys would have to vote with the Democrats
to impeach.
Then this guy and 65 other senators
would have to vote that guy out of office.
That's why more presidents have been removed from office
by cholera than by impeachment.
So these lefties are just going to have to hang
in there for another three.
Impeach Trump now exclamation point, exclamation point,
exclamation point.
Why is it taking so long?
You're here for a rally to impeach
Donald Trump When never do you think it's
never going to happen never?
It's taking way too long.
I think it will happen.
That's why I'm not-- I'm not sweating anything.
How long do you think it'll take to impeach the president?
A lot of the grownups we talked to said tomorrow.
Does that sound reasonable to you?
No.
Is there anything more heartwarming
than the cold political pragmatism of a child?
Only the frantic vagueness of grownups.
What was the day that you decided
that Trump should be impeached?
Well, day one.
I think the man is disgusting.
So it's not so much that you wish for impeachment
as it is that you wish for a different outcome
to the election?
Yeah.
When you say that Mexicans are rapists and whatnot,
I mean it was a disaster from day one.
You do realize that being a dick
is not an impeachable offense?
Well, it should be.
Are you here in support of impeachment today?
Absolutely not, unless you're talking about the impeachment
of Jerry Brown.
No, I'm not.
I don't know why you would impeach
someone who hasn't done an offense that's
punishable by impeachment.
That's generally how impeachment works.
I feel like that sentence is probably
the only one you're going to say that I'm going to agree with.
NARRATOR: And despite Trump's crimes,
not really being poofy enough, the marchers persisted.
This man even took time out of his busy schedule
of robbing trains just to add his voice to the crowd.
We have about 45 marches across the country today.
Wow.
When do you think it will be safe for all those people
to just go back to letting black women vote for them?
If we can just let black women rule this country,
we would be in such a better place.
Yeah, OK, when's the rally for that?
Because I am all for the rally for black supremacy.
NARRATOR: It was amazing to see so
many people taking to the streets
for what they believed in.
And like Ashley, these marchers had
other hopes and dreams besides making Mike Pence president.
Health care, immigration, and women's rights.
Fighting for immigration rights.
Fighting for health care. - Health care.
- Health care. - Health care.
Impeaching the entire capitalist system.
What's your timeline for ending capitalism?
Oh, it's happening right now.
You didn't hear?
Do you think I would be out here in this heat
talking to white people for money
if money was about to stop being a thing?
NARRATOR: Damn it, you burn foraging story,
you were doing so well.
Look what happens when you laser focus on an actual issue.
Tonight the Republican health care bill is dead.
NARRATOR: We did our best to channel their fervor for change
into a more practical march.
Pay attention to small things in mid-term elections!
They're really important!
We even tried to divert the herd
to their local politicians' office.
But to be honest, It was very hard not
to be sucked into the reverie.
Is this the first protest you've been to that has a DJ?
Yeah.
NARRATOR: New to the allure of an impossible dream, it was
much easier to get behind than the reality of fighting
for incremental change.
It's a long way off from election day.
So I have to do something.
I can't sit home and play ignorant
and not use my voice to at least be with fellow thinkers.
NARRATOR: At least they could all
agree with the Benjamin Button version of Ashley Nicole Black.
Our family doesn't like the president.
So we just-- we just don't like it,
so we just get mad and turn down the TV.
Do you know who Tucker Carlson is?
Because he is going to love this interview.
No, I do not know him.
NARRATOR: We hope you never do.
We'll be right back.
