Lets start this review
with a thumbs up for Audi!
Because there used to be two brands
who had the 5 cylinder in their DNA
Audi
and Volvo
Volvo ditched the 5 cylinder
because of eco regulations
Audi though
still makes it!
In the new TT RS
and RS3
you get this 5 cylinder Turbo
Which sounds gorgeous!
The engine is completely new
It now has 400HP
in stead of the earlier 360HP
in the TT RS plus
It's stronger and lighter now.
Because they used aliminium
for the internals
the oil pump
and some more parts.
So the engine is 25Kg lighter
Which is really important
Because the engine is in the front
over the front axle even.
And that weight is what makes the turn-in good or bad
The stock TT RS
does 3.7s to 100km/h
But we know the Audi philosphy
They always play safe with the power
Especially because they always have 4WD
the limits are miles away
But this TT RS is equipped with 3 magic letters
M T M
Lets put it in Dynamic Mode
Gearbox in manual
shift down..
And then the 5 cylinder starts growling!
That deep
characteristic sound..
The sound really goes through the car
because of the MTM exhaust
from the cat to the back
So the sound is much stronger!
It also has the 2nd gen MTM cantronic
So it has 467HP
and 570 NM
great numbers
Which should make it do 3.3s
to 100 km/h!
Which is just 0.1s slower
than an Audi R8 V10 PLUS
Think about that..
OK
what happens
with a person
if you use the Launch Control..
stock is 3.7s
this is 3.3s
What a kick!
that was 3.3s to 100km/h..
Top speed should be 300km/h
MTM is really good
at tuning cars
without losing the drivability
It feels like a stock car
Which is what you want..
and that's really hard to get
When you look at all the things they change..
This TT RS is the ultimate example
of the safe margins
that are stretched
The sound is deeper
the power is bigger
It handles better
That's MTM
using the potential
making an even better version
of a very good car..
