Welcome back to Cartoon Hangout, your place for all things cartoon.
I’m in a bit of a rush today, due to my own procrastination of course, so this review
is gonna be real quick.
“Mysteries on the Disorient Express” gives us an assortment of monsters and mysteries
for Fred and the gang to solve.
And it is great!
There was an episode earlier in the season with Fred solving several mysteries in one
go and now we get an entire episode with a similar concept.
I liked that the space in which the episode took place was so restrictive as they were
on a train.
It really gave the writers a lot to play with in terms of the gang trying to get away to
solve the mystery without the conductor catching them.
And it was pretty funny, too.
Especially anything to do with Scooby being Shaggy’s mother.
Heck, even the Daphneism was almost as fun this episode.
Not to say it never is, just that this one was especially great.
I’m a fan of how, despite seemingly being useless throughout much of the episode, by
the end Daphne had successfully honed her senses enough to help them find a clue and
escape their dog kennels.
Her picking the lock reminded me of What’s New Daphne who would often use everyday feminine
products to help the gang and I’m glad something like that happened in this episode.
I don’t have time to really spend on the various monsters, but I loved their design
and variety.
The episode had everything from the grim reaper to a mummy.
Maybe later this week I’ll do a second video and talk about what previous monsters they
could be (though most of this show’s monsters are NOT based on classic ones).
For now just know I loved the idea of there being a bunch of monsters.
Those monsters were all after a chip, too.
It’s probably the first time the gang have solved a mystery that could save the world,
at least in this specific show.
So that’s a cool idea and wouldn’t mind seeing another episode that puts them in the
international agents’ shoes.
In conclusion this is a really great episode.
It’s comical, it’s unique, and I think you’ll really love it.
Check it out if you get a chance.
Thanks for watching and take care!
