So much golf this week, it was awesome!
Congrats to Hideki Matsuyama who notched his 2nd World Golf Championships victory of the season
at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and notched his 6th international victory since October!
And another congrats to Chris Stroud for earning some precious FedEx Cup points with his Barracuda
Championship victory in the stableford scoring system event, where the highest score wins.
Therefore think about this, we had 5 aces this week which added up to 21?
Ponder that….
Jay McLuen and J.J.
Spaun each had aces on Thursday.
J.J.’s from 208 yards on the 16th in Reno…
Not to be outdone, Hudson Swafford holed one from 214 yards on the 15th at Firestone on Friday.
And check it out, he gave out Bridgestone balls at Bridgestone for his numero uno.
Are you keeping track?
That’s 11 points so far.
But we had two more in Reno on Sunday.
Tom Hoge on the 7th and David Hearn, here, from 220 yards on the 16th!
You could say, those guys were getting buckets!
We had quite the basketball and golf crossover this week.
Golden State Warrior and recent NBA Champ, Stephen Curry blew up the Twittersphere with
his Web.com Tour debut and proved a lot of the haters wrong…
That’s right, the former NBA MVP teed it up with the pros in actual competition this
week at the Ellie Mae Classic in the Bay Area.
Talk about golf bag goals…
And what are the odds?!
His very first tee shot of the tournament ended up in the bottom of the cup.
A golf cart cup holder that is…
Smylie Kaufman had the perfect explanation, tweeting “You cannot make this up.
@StephenCurry30 out there getting buckets!
Good shooters keep shooting” Steph put together an impressive showing,
shooting back-to-back 74’s.
Though he missed the cut, he outperformed his expectations…
Curry: “It was an unbelievable experience.
Two 74’s?
I’ll take that.”
Several gave Curry a shout out on Twitter, giving him props for his debut performance
– like Rickie Fowler…
And Web Simpson…
Warriors teammate Andre Igoudala joked that the only practice Curry had was against him.
Igoudala is such a big golf fan himself, he’s going to put on his reporter hat and be a
special contributor for Turner Sports at the PGA Championship this week.
Hey Andre, I can’t play NBA Basketball, so don’t take my job.
Haha, just kidding, that should be pretty cool.
The Warriors aren’t the only golf fans.
J.R. Smith from the Cleveland Cavaliers hung out with and even caddied for Cavs fan Jason
Day at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
A huge Cavs fan himself, Harold Varner III grew up in Akron and posted this fun photo
emulating his favorite athlete LeBron James.
I wonder if he would get this excited if he met Lebron…
The local Hawken Girls Golf team came out to watch Jordan Spieth and were a bit overwhelmed
when they finally met him...
Where did the season go?!
The final major of the year is this week at Quail Hollow for the PGA Championship.
I’ll have a recap each night in #TheTakeaway.
Have a great week!
