Tricks are getting more and more difficult,
but today some easy front handspring.
[HOW TO: FRONT HANDSPRING]
Let’s start.
Maybe left?
That’s the way!
Left works better.
Let’s see if the left or the right hand is better when it comes to handspring.
[STEP BY STEP]
Here’s handspring step by step.
Of course you can do this in one step,
though I’d not recommend it, because it might turn out sloppy.
Unless you’ve been doing acrobatics for 38 years,
then your body will set itself right.
If you haven’t, you might do it sloppy and not learn it at all.
It’s better to do it step by step. Patience, patience.
Let’s go.
On your knees, arms pressed against your ears.
Our task is to jump on our hands from our knees and go back.
Keep in mind that when you’re jumping on your hands,
try not to set yourself for a push-up but as for standing on your hands.
Head between your shoulders and trunk as high as possible.
On my knees, hands up.
Looking on my hands.
I straighten my legs and try to make a swing from my heels.
The movement goes like this.
One more time.
Once we’ve mastered this, we might try jumping from standing.
Abdomen must be flex so that I don’t bend.
I jump on my knees and go back.
One more time, a little harder.
I managed to do it the way I wanted.
My kick was strong enough to swing me to the other side.
That’s what we’re looking for and that’s what we’re not afraid of.
I hope you’ve done the dive roll already.
If you haven’t you might need to get back to it, since you’ll need it.
Hands and I hide my head as in the dive roll.
This has nothing to do with the handspring, but with our fear.
In order to conquer your fear against falling to the other side,
I hide my head and fall on my back.
But don’t get used to it.
We’re not aiming for slouching as in a flip,
but to bend as in a bridge.
Before you get to this, try bending a little or doing a couple of bridges to stretch your back.
Let’s get back to business.
Now I’ll try to swing from my knees to the other side,
but trying to make my feet hit the trampoline first.
Jump,
hands,
feet,
and I fall.
A little harder, faster and more.
Knees,
hands, feet, and…
nearly made it.
I might use more strength.
It’s hard to do this from knees, that’s why I will stand.
One more time.
Standing and crouching a little,
arms pressed to ears.
Hands, legs, and… close.
Full power.
No more monkey business.
No more monkey business!
Arms against ears.
That’s what it looks like step by step.
I know it’s a bit long, but it’s all about technique.
We don’t want it to look like this.
[CORRECT POSITION]
Here’s step by step, now for some adjustments.
There are a few options that might help you make your handspring just perfect,
making you able to add some elements before and after it.
Now I could use a little magic.
Here’s my mattress and here’s what I’m going to do with it.
I’ll be doing the usual handspring,
trying to aim for the floor behind the mattress and stretch my handspring,
since you should stretch your handspring when you’re learning it.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, my hands will go on the mattress first, and further next.
Jump.
It’s working.
I’ll try to do this at once.
Ready.
[BASIC MISTAKES]
Here’s something that must be present in every episode.
Mistakes that some of you are sure to make as you’re learning the handspring.
Mistake no. 1.
We’ve already seen it in the step by step section.
Bending all you’ve got.
Unless you’re Smeagol or someone of that sort.
If you’re not, don’t do this.
It’s manageable, but looks bad.
No Smeagol, nice and easy.
Another thing is lack of symmetry in legs or hands.
Jumping like this or kicking with one leg.
We’re learning the handspring, not some other spring.
No swing, just jump from both legs, go for the hands, and back for the legs.
In pairs.
Don’t do it this way. Ok?
Don’t do something like this or like that.
Some strange things happen.
Another thing, a more complicated mistake,
is when you press your hands against the trampoline for too long.
As you can see, once I hit the trampoline with my hands,
I move my shoulders like this to push myself against it.
The same as with jumping on my feet,
doing the handspring I try to jump on my hands using my shoulders.
I don’t do anything like this.
I’m not bent enough to land freely in a bridge,
and even if I am, my handspring will not be dynamic.
Don’t press your hands until the end.
A swift movement of shoulders.
Ready.
That would be all as far as mistakes go.
Now I’m going to show you how to make a handspring on a ground that is a little bit harder.
This will look like this.
We need to make an entry from the standing position.
You can hold it for 3 or 4 seconds, but you don’t have to.
Don’t be afraid.
The other thing is the so-called spring.
Legs straight, and it’s enough.
Now we have to stand on our hands, and once we’ve done this, we make the same movement as with the spring.
One more time, spring.
Standing on hands.
I make a spring.
I hope you’ll make it.
Unfortunately, our operator is running out of tape,
so I have to make it quick.
That would be all for today, I hope that thanks to this episode you’ll manage to master this trick.
If you have any questions, ask your instructor, tell them that you’ve been watching ‘How To,’
and I’m sure that you’ll figure something out together.
The instructor will provide you with some assistance.
Or take a mattress if you’re afraid.
I can fall both on a trampoline and on hard ground,
but if you’re not sure with the handspring, take a mattress, and everything will be okay.
In the next episode I’m going to show you the back handspring.

Subscribe and thumbs up if you want to see it in the next episode.
That’s it for today. Peace!
