coffee on the edge of the living room,
and then I just picked it up and drank a bit
and then I said, yuck.
(majestic playful music)
- Good morning everyone.
We are in Utah.
Duncan and I are in an elevator.
Duncan slept in a little bit this morning,
while everyone else went down to breakfast,
so we're gonna meet them for breakfast.
Are you hungry?
Are you hungry, do you want to see Mommy?
I think he's hungry and wants to see Mommy.
We're almost there.
Is that better?
Is that better being with your mommy
and your big brother?
Everybody else is at the bathroom,
but we're here, we're having some breakfast.
It's good to be with your mommy, huh.
- I love you boys.
(kissing)
My sweet boys.
- We finished breakfast and now I think,
it's time to go to the pool.
Are you in the pool?
- Yeah, with Grace.
- [Christopher] Grace is in the pool too?
Jacob and Bailey, are you guys having fun?
We are in the pool.
Here he goes.
(sweet playful music)
(underwater bubbling)
(underwater bubbling)
Bailey stole my Go Pro.
(laughing)
- But Daddy stole it back.
- I got it back.
Yeah, that's a big smile.
I like when you get your tongue involved,
that's pretty silly.
- [Jessica] He's been into that lately.
- [Christopher] Big smiles.
Yeah, there's a big smile, that's nice.
- [Jessica] Hi bunny, are you gonna do your little giggles?
Hi. (laughs)
You had some good sleep last night.
You slept like 11 hours straight.
That's madness, babies aren't supposed to do that.
Do you want to get your arms out?
Are you ready for your stretches?
(Velcro ripping)
Oh.
- [Christopher] Oh there's an arm.
- [Jessica] That feels so fun.
Stretch.
- [Christopher] There's your other arm.
Oh, big stretches.
- [Jessica] Yeah, it's playtime.
- [Christopher] Are you gonna play?
Are you gonna run run run run run run run run?
(Jessica laughs)
Run run run run run run run run.
(Duncan cooing)
- Oh good one.
Christopher is setting up Duncan's tummy time blanket
and I'm going to show you my favorite angle
of all time for little babies.
This is Mommy's favorite.
When you lift your head up so big
and we can see your little tiny body
back there behind you.
Hi baby.
So putting a baby on their tummy and having them
lift their heads up and taking the picture
from that lower angle is my favorite picture.
If you are a mom of a new baby or you're going to be,
make sure you get that picture,
because first of all,
they don't do it in general for very long.
Like they can only be on their tummy for so long,
before they start getting grumpy.
You have to do it right when they get on their tummy too,
because that's the only time they'll be strong
enough to lift their head, like that,
and kind of bobbing.
So get your camera ready before you put your kid
on their tummy and make sure you get that photo,
like when they're like two to three months old,
because then they're just crawling around everywhere
and everything's different.
But when they get bigger, if you get that photo
and then you look back on it,
it will be so cute to you,
and you'll be like, oh my gosh,
that is the cutest baby ever,
and you will love that you took that picture.
So make sure you do it.
It's really cute.
It's a good angle.
(baby cooing)
Are you tired now baby?
Are you all done with tummy time?
Yeah, just about.
Getting stronger buddy.
Getting stronger big boy.
Oh you can do it, you can do it.
- You can do it with Jacob.
You can do it with Jacob.
- Yeah, Jakey's coming.
Big brother's here for some support.
Biggest brother and biggest daddy.
Aww, aww, I think Dunky's about to fall asleep.
Getting tired from all your exercise?
- Can I hold him?
- [Jessica] Sure.
- Hi.
- [Jessica] I think he wants to smile.
- He wanted to stick his tongue out instead.
- Do you?
Do you?
Do you?
Do you?
(Jessica laughing)
- [Jessica] Yeah, I think he likes that tongue.
He's so happy with his big brother.
(Jessica laughing)
You're such a good big brother Jacob.
(burps)
Big burp.
Here you go.
That was really loud, but it didn't get you too messy.
Jacob's ready for it.
Parker what are you learning to do?
- Coffee.
- [Jessica] You're learning how to make coffee?
- Yeah.
(dripping and whirring)
- [Christopher] Did you make this coffee?
Who'd you make it for?
- Dad.
- [Christopher] Yes, thank you.
I'm so excited to drink this coffee.
It's gonna be so good.
It smells good, doesn't it?
Parker, do you like the smell of coffee?
- Yeah.
- [Christopher] You do?
Have you ever tasted coffee?
- Yeah.
- [Christopher] You have?
When?
- When I sneaked downstairs,
when everybody was not downstairs,
they were all asleep.
And then I sneaked downstairs and then I just
saw coffee on the edge of the living room
and then I just picked it up and drank a bit,
and then I said, yuck.
(Jessica laughs)
And I just walked away and then I just went to sleep again.
- [Christopher] So you stole some of my coffee
when I was upstairs?
And didn't know that you had drank my coffee?
And you didn't like it?
But you liked the smell of it?
Well that's the first I'm hearing of this story.
Parker, the coffee that you made me is fantastic.
I think that tomorrow you should teach everybody
how to make coffee, when you make coffee for Daddy.
You wanna teach everybody?
- And then when we get back home,
I'll teach you how to make the coffee.
- [Christopher] Oh yeah, Jacob is learning
how to make espresso.
He knows how to make espresso
with the real espresso machine in our house.
- [Parker] Really?
Do you want to learn how to make coffee?
- Very Impressive.
(twangy lively music)
While we're in Utah, we happened upon
a very good friend of mine,
a friend that I haven't seen in a very long time.
His name is Aiden.
And I was thinking he might walk in the frame
like other people do, but I guess I was wrong.
Nope, here he is, and now he's in my shadow.
Try to get a good shot of Aiden.
- Why have you got a mouse on the top of your camera?
- That's a wind screen.
Do you see how there's a breeze going right now?
- Normally it sounds like this, pffft, in the microphone.
But that makes it not. - That mouse?
- That dead mouse does it.
- That's a fluffy looking thing, isn't it.
- Yeah it is, is is.
Anyway, Aiden builds cars as a hobby
and he wanted to take Jacob on a very quick trip
in one of the cars that he built.
- I wouldn't really call it a trip.
- How far are you gonna go?
- Four feet forward.
- Four feet, a four foot trip.
And back?
- Maybe six feet back.
- Six feet back?
For a total 10 feet of travel.
- Should I do a wheel spin?
- A full wheel rotation?
So you think you can do that?
- Dig up some dust.
- Yeah, let's do it.
- I've done that before.
- Let's see it happen.
- Alright, I can make that happen.
- Alright.
- Alright, yes.
- Yes.
- Look at the car that Aiden built.
Do little wings pop out of it
and you fly and save Grandpas and stuff from
- No, but it does have a hovercraft look.
It doesn't really, I wish it'd done.
- [Christopher] It doesn't have a seat belt,
which makes me nervous as a father.
(engine starts)
Oh my goodness.
Whoa.
(revving)
What did you think of that?
- It was cool.
- [Christopher] It was cool.
That's awesome.
So this motor, Aiden was telling me,
the engine is from a boat.
- A speed boat.
- [Christopher] And this is from a Volvo.
- Volkswagen.
- [Christopher] Volkswagen, sorry.
- Volvo axle.
- [Christopher] This is a Ford wheel from a Model T.
- Model A.
- [Christopher] Model A.
- Front axle from a Model A, radiators from a Model A.
- [Christopher] What did you start with,
what started this project?
- The wheels.
- [Christopher] The wheels started the whole thing.
- I liked the look of the wheels,
and I had a vision, ta-da.
- [Christopher] And like the framing and stuff,
this is just sheet metal that you bent into place?
- Just sheet metal, yep.
- [Christopher] That's so crazy.
- [Aiden] Yeah.
- [Christopher] You just built this out of scraps of stuff.
- Scraps of stuff.
- [Christopher] And this is your new project over here.
- [Aiden] Yeah, that's a Lotus 7 replica.
Again made with what I've got available
for the most part.
Volvo Axles, Volvo wheels,
it's got a Mazda rotary Wankel engine,
which I've never played around with before,
so that's new to me.
I'm quite excited about that.
And this one is far more mathematical,
a lot of geometry, a lot of measurements
and crazy science stuff in this one.
But it's coming together.
- [Christopher] What do you think Jacob?
- Is it done?
- [Christopher] Clearly.
- [Aiden] You can sit on this two-by-four.
- [Christopher] I helped build this guitar.
I designed of this part,
of this guitar.
- [Bailey] Whoa.
- There was red paint on this t-shirt
from the day we painted that guitar.
The red paint has stayed on the t-shirt that long.
- [Christopher] That's exciting.
Aiden and I used to be in a band,
we still are in a band.
- Yeah, Wild Stallions.
- No that's not the name of our band.
Our band is called
The Houdini's. - The Houdini's.
- We said it in unison like total goobs just now.
What did you find?
You've got an orange?
Look at that.
And a Vox? - And a Vox.
- I feel like I should explain how Aiden
and I know each other.
Aiden and I used to work at a store, an online store
that sold magic, juggling, yo-yo's,
and occasionally disc golf disks
back in Santa Barbara.
And we worked together for a long time,
we became really good friends,
and then he moved away,
and this is the first time I've seen him
in like forever, and he has a son that's Jacob's age.
I'm really happy to be here, hanging out with my friend.
And he plays drums and I play guitar,
so we're gonna make some loud noise.
(rock music)
That's how we used to end it.
- Yeah.
- Yeah, he knows.
Clearly we're out of practice.
- [Aiden] What did he say?
(laughing)
♫ La la la la la la la la
♫ La la la la la la la
♫ La la la la la la la la
♫ La la la la la la la la
