It was all red, white & blue during Saturday morning’s foursomes at the Presidents Cup.
The US came into the day leading 8-2 and headed into the afternoon session up 11.5-2.5…
After breaking out the “Three Amigos” dance in their win Friday…
Phil & Kisner kept their team chemistry locked in Saturday morning…
And defeated Grillo and Vegas 2 & 1….
The U.S. captured 3.5 out of 4 points in the morning, but not without some action from
the International team…
But the U.S. always seemed to have an answer…
Now that’s just silly! Reed & Spieth defeated Leishman and Day 4 & 3.
The MVP of the morning for the Internationals was surely Louis Oosthuizen…
Then just a hole later he did this!
The South Africans held strong to halve the match against Fowler & Thomas.
Heading into the afternoon’s Four-ball, the United States needed to win all four points
available to clinch the Cup a day early – but Jordan Spieth accidently made it a little
interesting…
On the 12th hole, Spieth conceded Oosthuizen’s putt before it stopped rolling.
That’s against the rules Jordan!
So the International team won the point on that hole.
But Spieth and Reed went on to win the match 2 & 1.
Meanwhile, the US had the Berger boys to cheer them on!
And Daniel Berger gave them plenty of reason to cheer…
He made three straight birdies, until Justin Thomas wanted to add a point of his own with
this 42-footer…
The Class of 2011 defeated Vegas and Matsuyama 3 & 2.
But Si Woo Kim’s team did not want to let the US clinch a day early….
Even when Charley Hoffman tried to end it on a bang on 17…
Lahiri said, nope – we are taking this all the way to Sunday… and went on to win the
match 1up on the 18th.
The United States leads 14.5 to 3.5 and needs just one more point Sunday to win the Presidents
Cup.
The Web.com TOUR Finals are also in action, with Jonathan Byrd sleeping on the lead heading
into the final round.
