-Yeah, I wrote a book.
It´s called "Higher Is Waiting," and it comes out in November,
and it´s a very intellectual, higher level of thinking.
It´s not -- kind of like, not, uh...
-We won´t be in the same section at the bookstore?
-No, I´m kidding.
It´s just a book about some things that I´ve been through,
and what I realized is that, if I made it through some things
and if I share it with other people,
the advice will usually help them,
and I´ve done it with a lot of friends.
So I just decided to put it all in a book.
-That´s fantastic. -"Higher Is Waiting."
-"Higher Is Waiting." -"Higher Is Waiting," yeah.
-Do you ever do, uh...
Do you ever do, like, talks and TED Talk type of things?
-Not yet, not yet. Well, some -- some --
I´ve done a few talks but not any TED Talks yet.
But, yeah, maybe one day.
-´Cause I know you´re an actor. -I´d consider it, yeah.
-That´d be fun. I´d love to go see you.
I want advice from you.
-You would come see me do a TED Talk?
-Yeah. -Okay, great. That´d be awesome.
-I would come see you do a TED -- Yeah.
Come see you do anything.
-You mean the bear that
Mark Wahlberg was in the movie with?
-No, no, TED Ta-- It´s a different Ted.
-Oh, it´s a different Ted. Okay, okay, okay.
Okay. Well, I´ll talk in both of them.
I´ll talk to both of them.
-Because I -- So you have a book coming out.
You have the movie coming out. You´re a director.
You have a whole empire. You have TV shows on.
You´ve done it.
I don´t know if anyone´s told you this, but you´ve done it.
This is great. You´re crushing it.
-I appreciate it. Thank you, thank you.
[ Cheers and applause ] -You´re doing great.
-I´m doing okay. I´m doing okay.
-Yeah, and you´re a good dad, and it´s all good stuff.
-Doing okay. -But is there ever
a moment in your life where you go, "I´m famous"?
-Oh, yeah. I´ll never forget.
I was leaving the theater --
I had seen "The Color Purple," and I´m standing backstage.
It´s me, Oprah, Tina Turner, and we´re getting ready to leave
and go to somewhere else, to the after party or whatever.
And Oprah comes out, and the crowd goes crazy --
"Oprah! Oprah! Oprah!"
Then, Tina comes out, They go, "Tina!"
They´re losing their mind.
And I´m like, "Okay. I can just walk to the limo,"
so it´ll be fine. -Yeah, no one cares.
-I walk out, and they´re going, "Tyler, Tyler!"
I was like, "Whoa. Something has changed, big-time, for me."
-That´s pretty cool. -I heard Oprah, Tina, and Tyler.
-Oh, come on! That´s a good one to remember.
-Yeah. I´ll never forget it.
-That´s a great one to remember.
-Yeah, I got in the car like, "What just happened?"
-Because then, there´s also the opposite where people
will take your photo or take a selfie or ask for an autograph
and not even sometimes know who you --
-God will do things to humble you,
because you have a moment like that,
and then you´ll have another moment, as I was in --
-Do you know what I´m talking about?
-I know exactly what you´re talking about.
-We have the video of it. -Oh, wow!
-I´m assuming they´re from France, maybe they´re tourists.
-I was in Beverly Hills, leaving from lunch,
and the paparazzi and these people walk up.
That´s all I´m saying.
-Watch this. This is Tyler Perry getting recognized,
taking a picture.
-Closer. There you go. -Yeah, closer, like that.
-Merci, bye-bye. -Thank you.
Yes, I´m a rapper. -Yes.
-Yeah, yeah. -No, because --
-He´s a movie director. -No, no, no, I´m a rapper.
-No, I´m Drake. -He´s drake.
-No, really, I´m Drake.
-"I´m Drake." -Humbling.
-Yeah. -Humbling. Humbling.
-"Yeah. Are you a rapper?"
"Yeah, yeah." -"Yeah, a rapper.
Yeah, I´m Drake." -"I´m Drake."
-It´s humbling. -It is humbling.
I don´t know how many autographs I´ve signed for Jimmy Kimmel.
Every day. -Is that right? Is that right?
-I do him such a --
-Oh, wait. I´m not on "Kimmel"?
-No, this is "Jimmy Fallon"!
This happens all the time. -Sorry, sorry.
-No, I talk to him about it all the time, because people --
I will talk to them, I have conversations,
I take photos -- -And they think you´re Kimmel.
-And then, I leave and they go,
"That was great. We just met Jimmy Kimmel."
[ Laughter ]
But it´s fine. I just go with it.
-Go with it, just go with it.
