So this was my first writing session with a producer/writer named Ido.
I was super duper awkward and super weird. I was like "So um, do you wanna like, write
a song now?"
I've never been in love.
I've never done most of the things that I say in my songs.
Moonlight is a specific story.
I knew someone struggling with mental health.
At the time it was still going on.
Now it's all gucci, it’s all good.
When someone's going through that, they're not them anymore. They lose that spark.
Things like that don't go away.
It only escalates.
Watching that, it’s so hard to watch that.
I liked to try and put that in the song.
You know.
Classic, always happy.
Stay positive.
But, no one's always happy.
No one's always positive.
Don’t want that mask over you, you know?
I love dolls, and creepy old antique dolls.
I'm obsessed with them.
I've brought them in a lot of my old songs as well.
People are just seeing that perfect face and the perfect doll and being like, "Oh, it's all good."
"You're still you."
"Nothing's going on."
"Her? No. She's like the happiest girl alive."
I almost saw like a shelf, like an old doll just starting to tip over the edge.
Dancing in the moonlight, and that beautiful dance party, is one of the most cliché things.
Looking back on that person, remembering them as them and having that spark.
You miss that so much, that you changed the memory to feel so magical.
Well, you see.
When you're someone having this little fake life, it's kind of about that fake life almost
completely taking over and it's not even like you get those little glimpses anymore.
She's lost.
This mask is starting to just eat her up and kind of become her.
The hard thing about mental health and those kinds of situations is they're so unique.
I know everyone says this, but get some help man.
It honestly helps, a lot.
It might seem like they might not need it at the time, or it might seem like
"Oh, it's finally starting to work out, I'm finally starting to see them," but that's usually
not how it works.
You usually need that professional help.
