WWE Cut Down India Tour The Sorites Paradox concerns what exactly
constitutes a ‘heap’. For instance, a million grains of sand poured on the ground
would be considered a ‘heap’. Take one grain away, and it’s still a ‘heap’.
Take another, still a ‘heap’. But at some point, after removing grain after grain after
grain, you’ll be left with just a ‘pile’. And that’s the Sorites Paradox - at one
point does a ‘heap’ cease to exist? In much the same way, if you keep removing
dates from a WWE expansion into India, when is a tour no longer a tour?
WWE started their India-expansion project back in May this year, launching WWE Shop
there, hiring an executive to oversee operations in the country, and making Jinder Mahal WWE
Champion. Rumours had Jinder holding the title all the way through to WrestleMania, where
he’d defend against John Cena. This next stage was to be a two day tour of
India in December, but following a series of drastic changes to the Survivor Series
card, the decision was made for AJ Styles to beat Jinder for the championship. People
speculated that low TV ratings for Smackdown and low ticket sales for live events - including
the usually hot selling UK tours - forced WWE’s hand. And now another low ticket sale
reason might have emerged: WWE have cancelled their December 8th live event. That’s…
over 33 ⅓% of the India tour’s two shows. WWE announced the news with a PR spin:
“To meet the requests of WWE fans in India, and deliver the biggest main event in the
country's history, WWE is combining two nights of family-friendly action into a one-night
only, exclusive Supershow.” The new combined supershow has had a major
upgrade in the main event, though, with Jinder’s original opponent Kevin Owens being replaced
by The Game Triple H. And in place of the Friday 8th date in India,
WWE will now run a live event in Abu Dhabi with a WrestleMania rematch of Triple H vs
Roman Reigns. And that isn’t the only thing Triple H has
been added to last minute. Last-Minute Survivor Series Changes
This week’s Raw saw The Game’s surprise return to WWE TV, where he hasn’t featured
since WrestleMania 33, to announce himself as the fifth man for Team Raw at Survivor
Series and then pedigree Jason Jordan in front of his kayfabe dad Kurt Angle. That’s Father
of the Year stuff there, Kurt. Titus O'Neil better watch his back.
But much like the AJ Styles Smackdown title win, a change that was reportedly made only
five days before, significantly altering the Survivor Series main event, PWInsider report
that Triple H being added to Team Raw for the pay-per-view was only decided last weekend,
and Jordan only found out he was being replaced on Sunday night.
The decision for Charlotte to win the Women’s Championship in her hometown - changing the
Survivor Series match from Alexa Bliss vs Natalya to Bliss vs Charlotte - was also reportedly
made over the weekend. This joins the other last-minute card reshuffling
of John Cena being added to Team Smackdown - instead of being the special guest referee
for the originally booked Brock Lesnar vs Jinder Mahal match - and Roman Reigns reuniting
with his Shield brothers Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins to take on the New Day, when
