Why Winter is The Best Season for Stars

- So many people remember seeing a beautiful starry night.
It was clear, dark, and it was also cold.
It was usually during the winter.
Well, there are several reasons.
First, an astronomical one.
Although stars are distributed through the night sky evenly,
there's actually a clustering of the brightest stars
during the winter.
But there's also a terrestrial effect going on
and that has to do with our atmosphere.
During the winter, the humidity is significantly lower,
so the atmosphere, the sky, is very clear and transparent,
so we can see fainter stars.
And then there's a third event happening here.
There are just so many more hours of darkness.
For those of you coming home from work at say seven o'clock,
and you get out and look up, you're seeing stars.
But if it's the summer, you're gonna see the sun.
