13 One Review ~ Jackets Using Space Age Tech & A Great Story

I love finding unique products that have a really good story.
And today, I am featuring a product that has both.
It's my new raincoat from a brand called 13-One.

My husband was recently watching a business channel and on it was featured a woman who
started a new brand called 13-One.
Now, I believe the story, and I'm going to put all the information, website, everything
in the description below for this.
But, I believe the woman had some sort of really rare health issues and once she was
well from that, she decided to start doing half marathons, which I think was really difficult
for her to do.
So, after she did her first half marathon, which was really a pivotal experience for
her in her life, they wrap you apparently, I've never done one, but they wrap you in
this fabric and this material is something that's from NASA that's used up in space,
very light-weight.
And they wrap you in that to get your body heat back to where it needs to be after running
a race like that.
So, she remembers having that on her and came up with the idea to come up with the idea
to do a line, a product line of jackets that incorporated that same fabric inside so that
you could say nice and warm, especially after working out, but have a nice light-weight
piece.
And she also combined it so that right in the garments it has a little pouch that you
can fold it up in and travel with it, so that you can always have with you, a nice, light-weight,
super warm jacket for traveling.
Well, I liked everything about this story.
If you know me, I love small brands, I love brands that have a storyline around them,
and this had everything to it, so I had to try it.
And it was on sale when I went over to the website and ordered it.
And, within a couple of days, my new jacket here arrived, and I really do like it a lot.
Now, I'm in San Diego, it doesn't rain a lot here, but it does rain every once in
a while.
More importantly though, I spend a lot of time walking on the beach.
And very often down on the beach it can be a little bit chilly here, a little bit foggy
so I feel like this is going to be the perfect little coat for me.
I can even keep this, when it's wrapped up in its little pouch, in my car so I always
have it with me and handy.
So, here it came, it's 13-One, there's the little brand thing for it which says something
like, because every day is a marathon.
I think 13-One is the number of miles in a half marathon, I think so, because I know
that 26.2 is a marathon, so a 13.1 would be a half marathon.
I think that's kind of cool.
And then you can see here, this is the jacket that I have, and I'll show you pictures
of me wearing it too, I bought the long one.
Travel in style.
They also have a men's line.
Now, when it came--I will tell you it's a little crinkly, you can hear it, it makes
a little bit of a sound, but I cannot tell you how light-weight this thing is.
It's super light-weight, not heavy at all.
I got a medium, I probably could have gotten away with a small.
I'm anywhere between a six and a eight, probably could have gotten away with a small
in it, but my arms are really long, so I do like that the sleeves are long and they have
these adjustments.
So, for example, I can make the sleeve tighter here, which I needed to do.
Then down at the bottom there are these, you can also make it so that it comes in and it's
a lot smaller or bigger here.
So, in the end I'm really glad that I did get a medium just for those reasons and also,
I can wear it with things underneath it.
Now, let me show you--I'm going to show you as I take this off.
Here's what it looks like.
You can see the certified space.
It has this reflective lining on it which is just super cool, so that if you're outside
and it's night time and you've got it on.
And can I tell you how warm this is?
It would be almost too warm to run in, it says that on the thing - too warm to run in,
but it's great for afterwards.
Or, like for me after my Yoga classes when I'm super sweaty, when I take off my wet
clothes and put this on, I think it's going to be a fantastic jacket.
And it's so nice looking, it has just this little logo on it.
All of the clothes that she has on there right now are in black, but this silver, again there's
silver inside of here.
There's a shorter version, like a pullover.
There's also a jacket that shorter, and then I ended up getting the long trench which
I think is really nice and super versatile.
So, in reading here, it says, "Built-in pouch.
Retains, reflects 90% body heat.
Light-weight, reflective logo, water repellant, wind resistance, built-in carry pouch.
So, I haven't tried putting it in the pouch yet.
I do think probably it would have been smart of them to give a little bit of an idea of
how you put it in the pouch.
Luckily it has this picture, so you can tell it goes with the black side of the pouch.
Because at first, I tried putting it all into this, in this format, but it looks like you
go like this and turn this part inside out so that the logo is going in and just start
pushing it in.
This is pretty cool.
Oh my gosh, it's super easy once you do that.
Check that out.
And here we have it, the same little things that go on the bottom go into the little pouch.
So here it is, I can take this now, leave it in my car or put it even in my big purse
if I'm wearing it and it gets too hot.
Or, definitely travel with this.
There you have it.
That is the 13-One rain coat.
