is Dennis on this channel you'll find drone and product reviews so if you're
new here consider subscribing oh by the way at any point during this video do
check out my notes and links them to the youtube description below I'll list on
everything about the DJI Mavic Air yeah and anything else that I forget let's
start with the positives so one obvious thing I like about this drone is its
size gives my iphone case success and look it's almost the same size alright
good thing about this drone this is the new 3 axis gimbal system that DJI has
recreated if you just picked up the gimbal from the spark or the Mavic Pro
they actually constructed from scratch and I'm actually very impressed the
gimbal was super smooth doors and no issues at all or any vibrations the
camera is great I can shoot 4k at 30 frames per second Full HD 1080p at 120
frames per second so you can take those super slow-motion shot I've tested the
camera I played around with the camera and I've never really had any issues at
all for Stills it can take 12 megapixels photos and this couple features well
like the panoramic shots and a couple of new intelligent flight modes added into
this drone which which is it was just a plus for me you know really enjoyed
playing around the asteroid mode and the boomerang mode which is something that
the DJI has introduced for just for this drone I'm not sure whether there I got
introduced up to the spark or the matter with pro but and that asteroid mode is
very very addictive I tried the gesture mode where you can use your hands to
control the drone and look I was blown away it's very very responsive as you
can see in this video I tried it out you know move it to the left to the right up
and down it knows where where I am I try the active trap and it attracts me
very very well this drum makes it a lot easier for casual users and beginners to
to actually fly the drone and to use those intelligent flight modes the other
thing that's a huge plus for me is the obstacle avoidance The DJI Mavic Air
has multiple camera sensors now if you got to in the front to the back you got
to the bottom as well so it definitely knows where it's going whether there's
an obstacle or you know if I'm trying to put I'm trying to push the mapping air
to fly into like a you know two threes as you can see in this video and it
actually knows what it is something in front of it or behind it or underneath
it it's not gonna move it's it's gonna stay there I was actually pretty
impressed with the stability of this drone I thought that because of its us
more portable size that's gonna be blown away I tested it out on on a very windy
day when it's a very but on a windy day and it is pretty stable the the video
quality this is just you know the gimbal was steady it hasn't caused me any grief
or issues at all it's definitely a well-built drone if you forget to bring
your SD card that's fine because it comes with an 8 gig internal storage the
only thing that's annoying me this one is the placement of the SD card it's at
the back so if you you know put open this up so this is where you connect the
you micro USB and this is the SD card in there I don't know where you can see it
now sometimes I do have a hard time time to click it and remove it from there
it's probably because my hands are pretty large design the remote control
again it looks similar to the Mavic Pro except that the joysticks are
actually removable which is what you see which is a smart move body job because
when you're traveling you know for with the Mavic Pro this actually sticks
out but with this Mavic Airyou can actually remove them so they
don't stick out they don't you know move around when you in the back so the
transmission signal that the Maverick air uses is Wi-Fi only it's not using
the ocusync that's found in the Mavic Pro I'll talk about the
transmission signal a little bit later but those are some of the positives that
I really like about this term first of all it's small and compact camera is
gray gimbals gray lots of intelligent flight features it comes with an 8 gig
internal storage the control design is very very similar to the Maverick Pro
it's very very minimalist and overall it's just an awesome design as I said in
my previous video it's like a combination of the spark and the best of
the Spark sorry and the best of the Mavic Pro combined and they've created
this drone now what about some of the negatives to me personally the positives
up ways the negatives first thing for me is the flight time DJI has published that
the battery life of the DJIMavic Air is 21 minutes when I was flying this drone
I'm probably getting about 15 17 minutes depending on again the wedding oh the
weather condition so if you want to fly longer definitely need to get extra
batteries here so that to me was a bit of a letdown I'm so used to having you
know 20-25 minutes of flight time you know with the phantom 3 standard and
with the Mavic Pro this was sort of a change for me that I need to be mindful
of the battery life maximum distance of the Mavic Air is quite limited part of
the reason would would be is the transmission signal as I mentioned
earlier it's using Wi-Fi to control the drone rather than focusing just can be
fun matter pronoun just to give you an idea when I tested the Maverick air
flying across you know a couple of nearly harbor with the boats yeah it
caused a lot of disruption on my video fame as compared to when I flew my
Mavic Pro across that harbour I haven't I didn't really get any issues
not a huge deal breaker for me personally but enough some Wi-Fi is a
big no-no because again it comes with limited range and relies on you know
Wi-Fi signals are supposed to separate signal if I can fly the Mavic Air for
about but one kilometer is that's good enough
for me making you seem to be able to have the line of sight of the drone
anyway so you shouldn't really try to live so far away unless you're flying
you know out in the ocean or something so that's something to consider if
you're getting this mapping if you're getting this strong and last but not
least it is still a bit pricey the price of the mapping it can still be a little
bit expensive if you are just starting out so you recap the negatives battery
life again the DJI published 21 minutes I'm only probably I'm only getting about
15 to 17 minutes of flight time the range is limited along with the
transmission signal it's using Wi-Fi so just take note of that one and lastly
the price if you have the budget for it go for it if not maybe you won't ever
consider some other drones like the Phantom 3 standard or the Mavic Pro
if if it drops in price that's really about it today I hope you learned a
little bit more about the DJI Mavic Air if I'm traveling with the family if
I'm traveling overseas the magmatic air will be my go-to drone from now on sorry
Mavic Pro I'll definitely be uploading more Mavic Air video footage
so do check them out once it there look thank you so much for watching if you
