Hey everybody!
Today we look at an apparent fake Rolex retail box that I accidentally purchased last year
for $28 bucks.
So I'm still in the process of editing my next watch video...
...in the meantime here is some footage I found the other day.
I thought everyone might find it interesting...
But first a little disclaimer...
...buying fake stuff is bad! Don't buy fake stuff!
As you may know last year I won a Rolex Datejust from WatchGang.

It came with a really old nasty box and no papers as the watch was from 1970.
I looked around on eBay and jumped at the chance to get a new box and papers for the
Datejust.
$28, how can I go wrong?

So let's open a box!
I didn't realize that there was a market for faked Rolex boxes and papers.
At the top are the papers and hangtag.
The printing looks very good, nothing is raising any warning bells yet.
I started getting a bit suspicious of the hangtag, I'm no expert on Rolex, but it felt
a bit cheaper than it should have been.
onto the box itself...
I think it's trying to look like green leather, but it really looks and feels like a paper sticker.
It was covered with little styrofoam bits for some reason.
Inside the box, the box is quite a bit nicer.
Rolex crown and logo on the top half.
A sort of suede pillow with a thing to cover the watch on the bottom half.
The inside of the box seems to be lined with some sort of real wood.
Still, most people would just assume it's a real Rolex box.
I suppose it is accurate, even down to the text at the bottom of the box.
I had a nagging suspiciion... It was just a little too good to be true for $ 28
So I did some reasearch...
Seems you can order these directly from China from a number of sellers on DH Gate for around $10
I was going to give this box to whoever won my eBay auction when I sold my DateJust.
But I felt that including a fake box might give the wrong impression to the buyer.
So I just trashed it... It seems that lesson cost me $28.
Anyhow, that's all I have for now!
