Welcome to this week's video from 2tu Guitars.
We're gonna feature a signature guitar today,
and it's a Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Telecaster.
[intro music]
The Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Telecaster.
It was made in Indonesia, comes in three finishes,
Crimson Red Transparent, black, and natural.
This one is a 2016 model.
It's a Crimson Red Transparent finish over on alder body.
As you can see, it's got an F-hole,
as it's a thinline Telecaster.
It has two Seymour Duncan
vintage-style P90 pickups.
The neck pickup is a SP90-1N,
reverse wound, reverse polarity pickup.
And the bridge pickup
is a Seymour Duncan SD SP90-3.
Three-ply pickguard, black/white/black.
The controls are volume and tone for the neck pickup,
and volume and tone for the bridge pickup.
The bridge is an Adjusto-Matic bridge
with an anchored tailpiece.
The strings are top-loading.
As the strings are top-loading,
there's no ferrules in the back,
and you can see the compartments
to get to the controls
and also to get to the three-way toggle switch.
The three-way toggle switch
is on the top bout of the guitar.
The neck is made of maple.
It has a rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets,
and it's a modern C-shaped profile.
The headstock is in Crimson Red Transparent
to match the body,
and has a outline Fender Telecaster '70s-style logo.
The neck has been coloured to match the body,
and the back of the guitar headstock
features Jim Adkins' signature.
The tuning machines are standard cast sealed.
So next we'll give you a little introduction to the pickups,
what they sound like individually,
and what they sound like together.
And we'll start off with the neck pickup,
and the amp we're gonna use today is, once again,
the Fender Tweed Bronco from the mid-'90s.
So we'll give you a little introduction
to what the pickups sound like,
and as usual, we'll start off with the neck position first.
[guitar playing]
So that was the neck pickup on its own.
Now we'll go to the middle position,
and this will be the neck and bridge pickups together.
[guitar playing]
So that was the middle position,
with the neck and bridge pickups together.
And now we'll go to the bridge position,
which is the bridge pickup on its own.
[guitar playing]
So that was position three,
with the bridge pickup on its own.
So that's the 2016 Indonesian-made
Jim Adkins signature Telecaster,
Crimson Red Transparent finish over an ash body,
two Seymour Duncan vintage-style P90 pickups,
an anchored tailpiece with a Adjust-Matic bridge
and top-loading strings,
skirted amp knobs for the controls,
volume and tone for the bridge pickup,
and volume and tone for the neck pickup,
three-ply pickguard, black/white/black.
The neck is a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard,
22 medium-jumbo frets, and a C-shape neck profile.
The headstock is matching Crimson Red Transparent
like the body,
white-outlined Fender '70s-style logo.
The back of the neck is painted to match the body,
and the front of the headstock,
and the back of the headstock
features Jim Adkins signature.
Standard sealed tuners,
F-hole, as it's a Fender Thinline Telecaster,
and unusual for Fender, it's only a 24 3/4" scale length.
That's the distance between the nut to the bridge.
The usual length for Fender's is 25 1/2".
