Today I'm going to test and tell you about these pips of Dr Neubauer with tremendous name - Killer.
There are even blood stains at the cover.
Such a name.
I suggest in Ukrainian or Russian it would sound like "вбивця" or "убийца".
I think in this video we will get to know why the name is so.
I will test the sponge 2.0 mm, for attack, on my beloved blade DR NEUBAUER Jackpot.
It's blade with a good control, class Off.
And I will try to put these pips on DR NEUBAUER High Technology blade. Balsa blade, Off+.
It's interesting to see them playing.
We will start from pushes.
Today my helper is Sergei Baranovskii. Let's begin.
What can be said about pushes.
The first impression about this rubber is...
if to compare with Waran, Waran is just like pips-in rubber, short pips but very close to inverted.
The feelings are the same. If you didn't play with it, you can easily play super heavy underspin and spins.
So Killer plays more like pips, and have a catapult, due to soft tension material.
As if it was made of balsa. In a figurative sense.
You can easily spin with this rubber, but the spin is not heavy.
It's comfortable to push and block. If to speak about underspin.
So you can push short serves, if an opponent returns, you can attack, as we speak about 2.0 mm.
If there is an attack, we have to get ready to counterattack.
That is why, it's comfortable to push, and as advantage, the ball will fly really quickly.
Let's see how it plays in drives.
About pips. I have to differentiate FH and BH playing.
FH: there is strong rebound, so you needn't to make a big swing.
You can just move racket forward at incoming balls, and there will be quite aggressive block.
Or you may counterattack. This way, you have to close angle. But we will discuss it later.
Now we speak about drive, so you need just to thrust the ball forward.
Your wrist has to be tight. Otherwise, you may lose ball.
BH: I liked playing this way, as you don't play much swing. You move your hand forward at once.
That is why it's interesting. Now I tried to play with shorter technique.
As if these were medium or long pips. And mostly scored.
but you may play in ordinary way, as well. You can play drives, spin or even serve the ball under the net.
That is why, drives are easy to do and quick.
I think it's easier to play them BH.
Or just improve techniques FH. And for BH as well, but here it's easier, due to less swing.
Let's move next.
So, due to grippy rubber, you need to play both loop and shot, such a symbiosis.
You can start with opening attack and play it quickly. Especially for BH, if to improve techniques.
So one can play push, opening attack or attack against long serves.
It reminded me pips of Andro Blowfish, which are used for opening attack either.
But Andro Blowfish has much less control. I failed and lost balls a lot, and I didn't understand why.
Here everything is clear, you just start with open racket, spin and that is.
By the way, you may watch pips technique of Alan Zaikin, and his opening BH attack.
You can repeat his technique with these pips easily.
I advise you to watch.
About FH. I tried to start with drives, and managed. But you may add spin and speed-up.
Also playing FH, as your wrist is tight, you may thrust with it.
So the ball is without spin and will fall down when the opponent hit it.
You may do it BH as well. But I think it's better for you to close your wrist and the ball will be on the table surely.
So hit, by closing your wrist. Let's move to the next move.
Blocks. All rubbers of Dr Neubauer are unpleasant (for the opponent) in blocks, you just need to catch the ball and direct it.
Killer is not an exception. But there are differences FH and BH as well.
FH: it's easy to hit with tight wrist forward and the ball comes flat with no spin.
You may counterattack and you want to, but you need to close the angle, spin and hit.
You have to estimate the incoming loop, with heavy spin, for example, you need to close the angle, and hit forward.
if you can't, just place racket or play drive. Such variants.
BH: You may place the racket, and there may be short ball,
or you may thrust with block, but be careful not to lose the ball, and close block, it's also comfortable to serve.
You want to attack both BH and FH as the control is really good. You want to make a pressure at once.
As I expected, Killer is the killer of loops.
Very controlling, you need to close the racket, but angle doesn't matter, if not to indulge.
The ball is always on the table.
You may even choose simple tactics, and there are some training matches, when I played long serves,
an opponent start with loops, and then I play drive at once.
It's the great advantage, drive with close racket, if to return loop, of course, and if there is no spin ball, you open the racket and thrust.
It's comfortable to play, even near the table. It's great advantage.
Now we will try to develop tactics against opponent's serves.
I will return short serves, he will play loops, and then counterattack. Let's see.
As I supposed, everything is comfortable and firm. At great speed.
The speed is not lesse as such for the loop with pips-in rubber.
Very powerful.
As expected, Killer is the killer of loops, let's call it this way and sorry for tautology.
But before conclusions, let's try to play on blade High Technology.
It's balsa, thick central layer blade, Off+. Let's see how these pips will play.
About playing with blade High Technology.
The blocks are more aggressive, you may equalize position with block.
As expected, Off+ makes the ball fly straight.
You may not close the angle and play without spin, especially FH against loops.
And continue to hit, it's very comfortable, because the rubber itself has catapult effect, and balsa blade has the same effect.
Open hand, hit and control to close the angle, because otherwise you may lose the ball.
So you may put it on High Technology, play long serves, or just play changing sides.
You just need to improve your technique not to lose the ball.
So, about this rubber, Killer, made by Dr Neubauer.
Short pips, quite quick, I wouldn't call them All, it's Off- to Off.
Traditionally about short pips, there is a questions, what would I do, if the ball is under the net.
Playing this rubber, I may hit strong serve if the ball is under the net, as it's grippy, so I gripe and hit.
Of course, you need some skills to do it.
The same with strong opening attack.
If to train this move FH and BH, you may play strong openings.
It's not less quicker, or something else, you may play at any level with it. You may surely play with it.
And the speed and strength will be the same.
Why is it called Killer? 'cause it kills loops.
It's very comfortable, and Dr Neubauer created it specially for killing loops.
Any techniques to make an opponent play loops, if you want to counterattack, this rubber will be great to you.
There will be some more training matches further in the video,
and you will see, that after loop, I put my racket softly and the ball fell near the net.
So you my play such things with this rubber. But because of the speed it hard to play this move.
You need to push and play hardly BH and hit FH.
Or push, or play opening any move.
If to improve any move, you may easily play opening, then passive and hit.
The rubber is interesting, and I like that it's controlling.
It also waives some drawbacks, and you even score, though you didn't expect to.
There were such moments, at competitions, when I thought that failed, but the ball was on the table.
So an opponent is surprised as well as I am.
It's impossible to play such moves. And even some professional players use this trick to score.
If with DR NEUBAUER K.O. I scored due to its high unpleasance for the opponent, unclear spinning, like quick push,
with Killer, at the same competitions, my moves weren't so unpleasant, of course, at some degree there is some unpleasance, it's not Waran.
but it is not like DR NEUBAUER K.O.
I scored due to stability. Due to blocks, drives, speed and returns.
That is why, the rubber is interesting.
I advise to try this rubber to those, who play with pips, in attack, BH and FH.
for those, who play FH block, also. For blocks and returns. It will be great for such moves.
