Today I want to walk through how to use the EVC TokenCard.
During Q4 of 2017, we unveiled the unique EventChain TokenCard, a physical wallet that
stores EVC Tokens and Ether.
These cards are a great way to share EVC with your friends to get them excited about crypto,----
and can be used at EventChain events to purchase tickets, get VIP benefits and other perks
within the EventChain Platform.
These Cards also double as a paper wallet for the ultimate security for your tokens.
To some, this may sound a little, or very confusing, so I'll explain what the card
is and how to access your EVC tokens and how to move them to another wallet.
Let's start by taking a closer look at the EventChain TokenCard.
The Front is branded with the EVC Coin itself and the EventChain.io website address where
you can find information on the project and links to join our community Telegram group.
The back of the card has the good stuff, a wallet address and a hidden Private Key.
So how DO you access the EVC on the TokenCard?
First, you need a platform to access the TokenCard, such as MyEtherWallet.com, which you'll
sometimes hear abbreviated as (MEW).
There's a link to that site in the video description below.
I will caution here though, that you should ALWAYS be sure you're on a legitimate website
when managing your tokens.
Confirm that the address is secure (lock icon in the address bar), and double check the
spelling of the address.
Many scammer sites will use subtle tricks like swapping letters (is for ls) or adding
or subtracting letters.
Don't click on links from unknown sources.
Be smart, take your time and double check addresses.
Once at the MyEtherWallet website you'll see a panel on the right titled "Already
have a wallet somewhere?", where you'll want to select the "Mnemonic Phrase" access
option.
So where is this Mnemonic Phrase?
Well, on the back of your EVC card, there's a scratch area hiding 12 words, your Mnemonic
Phrase.
Keep this card safe, secure, and hidden.
Do not share these words with anyone because they'll have access to any funds on the
TokenCard.
Once you've revealed your Mnemonic Phrase, it's time to access the funds through MEW.
Select the Mnemonic Phrase option on the left, Type in the 12 Words, then Unlock your EVC
TokenCard Wallet.
If it's your first time opening the MEW wallet, you'll most likely not see the EVC
tokens by default, so you'll need to first add the EVC custom token address into your
MyEtherWallet.
To add the custom address, click on the "Add Custom Token" button on the right side panel
and input the EVC token credentials: EVC Token Address: which is in the description
below
Token Symbol (Abbreviation): EVC
Decimals: 18
After adding the EVC Custom token, you should see the wallet value in the list.
You may need to select the "Load Token Balances" button if the value has not been updated.
How do you actually transfer the EVC tokens to another wallet?
In order to do so, it's important to understand that you need Ethereum to complete the transaction.
In order for transactions to happen on the Ethereum network, there's a cost known as
gas, and gas must be paid in Ether.
If you don't have ETH in your wallet, you're UNABLE TO WITHDRAW EVC TOKENS.
Therefore, you must first send Ether to your TokenCard wallet address displayed on the
back of the EVC card in order to have enough gas to pay for the withdrawal.
Normally .02 ETH is more than enough to be able to withdraw EVC.
To find out how to buy ETH for the withdrawal, see the link to a guide in the description
below.
Now that you have ETH and EVC in your wallet, you're ready to withdraw.
Simply type in the wallet address you want to send to and be sure to choose EVC in the
"Amount to Send" box.
The address can be a hardware wallet like a Trezor or Ledger for long term storage and
safe keeping, or it can be sent to an exchange where EVC is currently traded.
Keep an eye on our blog at EventChain.io or join the EventChain Telegram group for announcements
about new exchanges.
Thanks for taking the time to watch.
We look forward to sharing news and updates about our exciting project as we work towards
a fairer event ticketing ecosystem.
