Tips on how to work on projects the safe way and helpful tools to use tool box safety.
Here is a few helpful links on the electric testers i use to make easy to find if you
like to try them out below what's up everybody it's mnbeast that's
right picture it build it anyhow I just came
to something today early this morning that's right drinking my morning coffee
getting my day started and I wanted to give you all some safety tips you can
take it you can use it and it's just advice that or you can always call an
electrician but as a homeowner if you're a homeowner
this is a nice little tool to have even if you're just in the construction trade
and you do double and etc etc it's a nice little tool again it's just an
electric voltage tester it's not perfect but it's very helpful and you can pick them
up at your local hardware store your home depot your Menards your Lowe's
right around 20 bucks and I call it is and that's right because I don't like
getting shocked anyhow why I'm doing this real quick because I'm getting ready to
shut power off I've been tearing down walls Demo I'm making this room
right now into my temporary like tool shop room where all my supplies and etc
are gonna be but the other day when I was doing all my demo I came across a
wire and I thought alright I should make a video on this just to make it a little
helpful so I didn't find my tripod in here I'm gonna take you off right here
for a second I'm gonna zoom in alright sorry about this I don't have a big old
fancy camera crew check this wire out as we go in look at that no wire especially
in your house anywhere should have a kink Bend like a piece of paper and also
all wiring okay if it's up to date regardless should not
be loose it should be tacked down but with a little bit of play not that much
play and it shouldn't have all this crazy play all right at all
and it should not be where someone could nail something into it down the road
okay this is not good at all so first thing I gotta do is I need to eliminate
this so I grab my klein voltage tester I see if the
wire is even active and lets me know it's active next run downstairs and find
out what's going on woo all right now I wanted to show you if you've run into
something like that that should make you very nervous and get that breaker shut
off right away but with these nice little tools you can go around your
house you can go to your outlets even and check your outlets to see if there's
power or not heck you can even go to your GFI's your break your strip cord outlet
yep my good old DeWalt radio getting some power
that's right anyhow let's walk on downstairs real quick and I'm gonna show
you I already shut this all off but then I thought oh wait a minute this is a
good video for anybody especially homeowners or anybody that's dealing
with anything this is a very very helpful advice and this all it's just
advice now you can see I've been slowly working
on my breaker panel alright and I've been checking everything out and running
the wires and making sure that everything is good now I have black
electric tape right now but if you have so if you're going to the hardware store
your local wherever it's good to pick up a roll of
red electric tape just read red I'm the only one working on this house right now
and I actually have a note on the other side that says black tape is basically
do not open those do not turn those breakers on so I found out which one
that wire was okay so I shut it off I threw a piece of electric tape over it
like I said I got black but you can use red so that way everybody in your house
whole or anybody that comes to work on your project when you call your
electrician to have them come over to inspect your electrical or anything
you're doing to give them a heads up that hey that breakers off there's a
reason for that make a side note where that wire and where that breaker was
used for I found out as new homeowners as you purchase your house never never
trust every single label that someone else previously wrote okay now because
that could have been the electrician that did it or the homeowner now if the
homeowner did it it could be different than what was originally done by the
electrician they wrote down bathroom okay now actually that is not the
bathroom that is the bedroom light but on the
flip side it is part of the bathroom have the bathroom that we have right now
is ran by that breaker and also half of it is ran by that small bedroom I shut
it off very right away put a piece of tape over it made a note and now I know
that is the next project do not turn that breaker back on because what we are
going to do next is we are going to be eliminating that wire I'm going to be
pulling all out cutting it down taping it and such and such and such on and
then of course running a new wiring but anyhow I just wanted to give you guys
all that quick safety tip I'm gonna put you back on my tripod sorry about
confusion so ah back to that there is all kinds of fancy tools that you can buy
when you're coming to electrical sorry it's early morning still for me and the
lighting isn't the greatest maybe I should try and turn on the light to see
if that helps Wow that's what it is um these nice little gadgets electric 3 wire
testers and ground testers yeah we can't see crap in here I'm sorry about that
everybody let's start that I don't know how I'm gonna start that one over
sorry about all that like I said I'm a rookie
out all this when it comes to filming I just want to make basically a journal
for myself on my project and how it goes it's gonna be a learning program for
myself and for others watching me so if I'm not perfect on my video and my video
editing just bear with me we'll get it better but anyhow this nice little
gadget here and this nice little gadget here this helps you check for all your
wires your outlets and everything else and this nice little gadget you can also
get right you can check to make sure that you're correct on your wiring for
example let's say your rewire up your outlet right you plug this in and I'm
gonna say I'm just a rookie at all this you plug this into your outlet now I
haven't done any wiring on this yet I just wanted to show you something really
cool even if you didn't wire this house up and you move in and you don't know if
all your outlets in your house are grounded or not you can put that into
the outlet and you can look at it and see if it's correct if it's grounded if
it's not correct and that is a very very helpful tool so
safety always first always remember that especially when you're dealing with to
your house your let's call anything that you're doing always remember safety
first tool shop Monday safety first I always wear safety glasses why it
don't matter if I am cutting one board I go find my safety glasses I put them on
because I have gone to the doctor in the last so many years two different times I
was wearing safety glasses but I was working over my head doing some demo on
a commercial job and two different times throughout the years I've had to go to
the doctor have them pop open I like that such on whatever come back whatever
mechanism they put your face into check your eyes and pull out two metal slivers
two different times if you don't like slivers out of your pants or anywhere
else you definitely don't want to come on your eyeballs that ain't no joke whoa
remember we might not have it all together but together we can have it all
hey yourself great day I'm gonna get my day started now I know my powers off my
wires safe I can get to the rest of my projects check those videos out next
