foundation and other times you get immediately started on the pattern. It all depends on the stitch that you're going to work on.
So to start the very first one you're going to come in second chain from the hook.
So just count it back so 1 and 2, get the back bump or the hump of this of the chain
and insert your crochet hook in and then pull through.
Okay, you're gonna collect those so leave that on the hook and you're gonna go immediately to the next one. So just insert
in, pull through and collect. Keep your tension nice and loose and
you keep collecting them all the way, so how many
loops will I have on the chain by the time I get all the way across. I
chained ten there should be a ten. So it's not like typical crochet where when you chain ten
and if you single crochet back you'd only have nine.
This one here is when you chain a certain amount you have the same number of stitches going across.
So let's verify 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. So you can see that
there's ten. So to do the return pass
it's pretty much standard in
Tunisian unless it tells you otherwise but most return passes are always identical to each other and it all depends on the stitch as well.
So to do the return pass you have to start off by chaining one. So chain one and
then you're ready to go all the way back to the other side right here where I'm touching.
So you're going to just yarning over and pulling through two.
So the chain one that you did was a builder chain so usually in crochet when you start a new
row you always have the chain one and then you start. In this case the chain one is on this side.
So it happens when you're doing the return pass. So you're just gonna yarn over pulling through
and you keep pulling through two all the way back.
Just like that.
So now this is a simple stitch and you're gonna notice that the strands are going in the vertical direction.
So you can see that they're going straight up and you're gonna see that there's two of them right,
there's one in the front and one on the back.
So what you have to do to start the next one is that you don't chain one first
you only chain one on the other side when you're returning is that you insert the hook through the vertical
but not all the way through the project so it's just one strand and then yarning over and pulling up on it.
Okay, and that shifts that stitch to make the yarning over that you pulled through just now just to come in front.
So you just go to the next one. So just going into the front strand pull through
and you keep doing that all the way until you get to the other side.
The trick is to know which one to go into at the very end of the project.
Okay, so I have one more left you can see that I do. So on the outside here it's gonna appear like two strands.
You're gonna go in that,
it's like it looks like a regular stitch of crochet.
So you're gonna go into that one, there should be two strands left on top and then yarning over and pulling it through and
that is your outside edge.
So remember what I said in order to start and go back in the other direction
this where we're gonna chain one first to begin. So chain one and then
just start pulling it through twos, so just two's all the way back,
just like that.
So whenever you're finished a row, it's not when you're back here it's when you're on the other side.
So let's just do one more row with you. So we're gonna go up in the vertical
okay, and we're just gonna pick them up
and put them on to your .
So you can see at the end of this row that the stitch work below looks finished because before you have these gaps.
So it's when you're moving in this direction is when you're actually finally finishing off your project.
So remember on the outside just lean it towards you so you can see it
and there should be two strands pulling it through and now you're gonna return in the other .
So just chain up one first, and then you're going to then just pull through two's.
So this is how you do this simple stitch and this is a cast on and
you know depending on the stitches that you're working on, um,
this is just a way to get started but most of the projects are started like this anyway.
So it all depends again on the stitch. So in the next video
I'm gonna show you how to do the cast off and that's really quite simple. 👋
