in the Champions League.
That is the opinion of football expert and Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague.
The Reds are hosting City at Anfield in a scintillating European tie between the two
highest scorers in the Premier League.
The last meeting between the two ended 4-3 in January to Liverpool, the only defeat inflicted
on Pep Guardiola's men in the Premier League so far.
With the league in the bag near enough, City will be going full force for the Champions
League trophy.
And Balague believes Liverpool must take advantage of that and strike first.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Balague said: "Two of the areas that the teams can be exposed
in – the high line of Man City and building from the back for Liverpool – can be taken
advantage of by their rivals.
"And if Man City score first I can see the game going to them but if Liverpool score
first that will be interesting as they will be comfortable defending deeper and hitting
on the counter.
"It can go either way but I think those are the two big points."
City have already secured one trophy this year, having won the Carabao Cup against Arsenal
earlier in the year.
Man City will be without Sergio Aguero, who has missed the past five games through injury.
Liverpool meanwhile, have a defensive crisis, with Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Ragnar Klavan
all sidelined.
