Today we're learning how to do the dolphin kick.
The dolphin kick is done by swimming in a wave motion.
Your legs stay straight and relaxed and the wave movement is focused at your hips.
Keep your arms overhead covering your ears.
You can sit on the edge of the pool and practice the wave more horizontally hold your tummy
strong and move your legs down and up from the hips.
Now let's see it done in the water.
Time to try it out for ourselves!
If you need more help, try it with a life jacket to stay afloat while you practice the
wave.
Or get a grown up to help you learn the movement.
Using a flutter board, or a noodle can also help when learning the dolphin kick.
Let's watch the dolphin kick in slow motion to get a better look at the movement.
Watch her hips doing most of the work and her legs kicking behind, as a reaction to
the hips.
Once you've mastered the dolphin kick on your front, you can try it on your back.
Either use a noodle, hold your hands out behind you, or do the sculling motion with your arms
to help you along.
Keep practicing!
