In this video, I'm gonna be telling you how to be mature and grow up.
How mature are you?
Well, you're about to find out and you might not like the answer.
Queries of the Interweb.
What's going on?
Joel here and I amusingly answer questions that are searched for every single day on
the interweb.
Not everything i teach is self destructive.
I'm teaching you how to be more mature.
If this is your first time here, be sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell.
I promise, you won't regret it.
So the first thing you need to do to be more mature and to grow up is, don't be so fragile,
like you get easily offended and easily triggered and easily upset over benign crap, and you
can't just be fragile and just break down like...You have to have the emotional maturity
to be able to handle things that are upsetting.
Like it's okay to be offended.
There's nothing wrong with being offended.
Okay, be offended, okay.
I see things that offend me all the time.
If I took action every time I was offended, I'd be a very angry, miserable person.
For example, the other day I saw somebody drinking beer with a straw.
Was I offended?
Sure.
Am I gonna go to the government and say, "Hey!
We should make that illegal because I'm offended by it."
Well, actually drinking beer with a straw probably should be illegal, but the point
is you know, you let it pas over you and you move along okay.
The selectively offended shouldn't get to dictate the way that everybody else lives
their lives.
You need to be tough.
You need to have thick skin.
I'm not talking about being physically tough where you kick ass and take names.
I'm talking about like, your will.
You need to be able to handle things that are hard to hear or hard to see.
Stop being offended at every little thing okay.
Don't let crap phase you.
Another very big important step you need to learn when you're growing up and becoming
mature is pay for your own crap okay.
Pay for your own crap.
If I want a PS4, you think my mom's gonna buy me one?
No.
I'm a grown up.
I work.
I pay my own bills.
I save my own money.
I buy my own PS4.
If you get a job, that first job you get is going to make you mature as crap.
That first job you get, you learn the value of showing up on time, working with a team,
communicating with a team, interacting with customers, those are all essential things
that you need to be useful to anyone who wants to pay you money and you'll save your money
and you'll buy the crap you want with your own money that you earned.
You need to feel the pain of money leaving your bank account.
That is an essential thing to growing up, is feeling the pain of losing your money.
See a lot of kids, they don't grow up.
They don't feel that pain.
Mommy hands you a twenty dollar bill, you didn't, that didn't hurt you.
You didn't feel anything.
Start paying rent okay.
If you're not paying rent, you should be helping out around the house.
You should be doing chores.
You should be shoveling the driveway.
You should be taking out the trash.
You should be washing the dishes.
You should be cleaning the toilet because doing chores is the only thing you have to
offer if you can't pay rent.
If you don't want to do that crap, start paying rent.
Pay for your own crap.
You will become an adult immediately.
The second thing you need to do to grow up and be mature is think for yourself okay.
Don't be sheep.
Don't, don't buy into every narrative you hear, okay.
The mainstream narratives can be very bias sometimes.
The media is very bias and look, I don't care if you're bias, just be honest about it and
the media is always honest about their bias.
You should be consuming your information from multiple sources with differing opinions.
Always, always, always be skeptical and always think for yourself.
If anyone makes a claim, always ask for specifics on that claim.
Think for yourself.
This is probably the most important thing you need to be mature and grow up is, take
responsibility for your own actions.
Don't be a victim.
Don't blame everyone else except yourself for your shortcomings.
Okay, your failures are your own and your successes are your own.
Look at your life.
Look at the choices that you've made.
Did those choices help you?
Did they move you forward?
Did they make you a better person?
Did they help you progress in your career, in your relationships?
Did it help somebody else?
Stop blaming everybody and take responsibility for your actions.
If you want to get from point A to point B, map it out.
How do I get there.
What do I need to do?
I get it, some people are born rich, some people are born poor, but both the rich and
the poor person can have goals and can, can decide what they're going to do to get to
where it is they want to be.
Stop being a victim and take responsibility for your own decisions.
Are you feeling like a grown up yet?
You feeling mature?
Now you know how mature you are and if you're not mature, now you know how to be mature
and grow up.
Share this video with all your immature friends.
I'll see ya'll in the next video.
Peace!
